Esoterique overhauled Integral in the closing stages to win the Group One Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket.
Pierre-Charles Boudot timed the 11-8 favourite's run to perfection over 1 mile after Ryan Moore had made all the running on last year's winner (4-1).
Trainer Andre Fabre was hopeful the dry ground would suit Esoterique, and so it proved as the mare made it three wins to two over Sir Michael Stoute's horse.
Irish Rookie, with Fergus Sweeney aboard, was third at 20-1.
The five-year-old Esoterique may now target the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on 17 October or the Breeders' Cup Mile in Keeneland, USA, on 30 October.
"She showed something new which I wasn't expecting, she showed a lot of courage and guts. She had to fight," Fabre told Racing UK.
"She could go for the Ascot race if she recovers well. She might be supplemented for the Breeders' Cup. She can go to Japan, to Hong Kong and she might stay in training next year as well."
