Scott Champagne grabbed a hat-trick as Nottingham Panthers made it two home wins in two by thrashing Coventry Blaze 10-1 in the Challenge Cup on Wednesday.
Brandon Benedict scored twice with David Clarke, Rob Lachowicz, Corey Neilson, David Alexandre-Beauregard and Matthew Myers completing the scoring.
Champagne told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It's obviously nice when it works out.
"The puck moves a lot faster than anyone can skate so if we move the puck like that we'll have a good season."
Champagne scored twice and Benedict once as Panthers raced into a 3-0 lead inside eight minutes and they dominated throughout.
But Champagne, who joined Panthers in the close season, said as well as the team played, they should not read too much into a crushing win over depleted opponents.
"They have a better team on paper and didn't bring their "A game" so I don't think the score is any indication of what their team is like," he added.
"But we'll take it and build on it."
