Nottingham Panthers recovered from the disappointment of losing to fellow title chasers Coventry by securing a gritty win over Hull on Sunday.
The hosts twice led through powerplay goals but Panthers levelled through Matt Francis and Scott Champagne.
And player-coach Corey Neilson smashed home the winner with nine minutes left to ensure Panthers top their group in the Challenge Cup.
On Saturday, Panthers lost a gripping game 6-7 against Coventry Blaze.
