Nottingham Panthers turned on the style in the third period to thrash Dundee Stars 6-0 and move to within a point of Elite League leaders Belfast Giants.
Panthers, who host the Giants on Saturday, went ahead with a short-handed Matt Francis goal.
A Brandon Benedict backhand effort made it 2-0 in the second session.
And Panthers romped to a fine home win in the final period with further goals from Scott Champagne, David-Alexandre Beauregard, Francis and Marc Levers.
Francis told BBC Radio Nottingham: "They did a great job shutting us down, frustrating us through the neutral zone and made it tough for us to get our legs going.
"But in the third we talked about getting a little more energy and rather than trying to skate things through, the puck always move faster than the guys.
"Once we started moving the puck and playing with our heads a little bit more, that was the big thing for us."
