Hull Stingrays defenceman Dan Scott will captain the Great Britain Under-20 side in the Junior World Championships in Germany starting this weekend.
The 19-year-old will be joined by Rays team-mate Jack Watkins as Team GB look to stay in Pool 1A alongside Norway, Germany, Belarus, Austria and Slovenia.
Scott told BBC Radio Humberside: It's a very proud moment for me. We're the underdogs of the tournament.
"We're the team that's meant to lose every game but we want to stay up."
Scott joined the Stingrays from EPL side Telford Tigers at the begining of the season and is getting regular shifts in the Elite League under Hull coach Sylvain Cloutier.
The former Medway Bears Junior said: "We're coming up against Norway, Germany, Belarus, Austria and Slovenia.
"There used to be two groups and everyone was on the exact same level but now they've put 1A above 1B so all the top teams are now in 1A and the not-so-good countries are in 1B."
The British Under-20s are likely to have to win two games in the tournament to avoid relegation and Scott said: "We're going out there with all the grit and determination to stay up."
