Dundee Stars have released player/coach Dan Ceman from his contract with the Elite League club.

The Tayside outfit, currently second bottom of the league, blamed the move on a poor run of results.

Canadian Ceman, 38, joined the Stars in 2010, leading them to an eighth-placed finish that season.

"This wasn't an easy decision but we feel we had to take action as performances have been less than expected," said director Mike Ward.

"The team is now in real danger of missing out on a play-off spot."
