The Belfast Giants consolidated their position at the top of the Elite League and reached the Challenge Cup final by beating Cardiff Devils at the Odyssey.

The Giants had lost the first leg of their cup semi-final 2-1 but this win saw them triumph 5-3 on aggregate.

Stuart McRae gave Cardiff an early lead but Jon Pelle and Craig Peacock goals saw Belfast enjoy a 2-1 advantage by the end of the first period.

Robert Dowd scored in the second period and Aaron Clarke in the third period.

Belfast now travel to face Sheffield in the Elite League on Sunday.
