Sheffield Steelers have signed Great Britain defenceman Danny Meyers on a two-year contract.
Meyers spent the last six seasons with Nottingham Panthers before being released last month after leading the club to back-to-back play-off and Challenge Cup successes.
He told the club website: "There are a lot of strange emotions running through me right now.
"I believe this is a great time to be joining the Steelers."
He added: "I think everyone knows I was settled and happy in Nottingham and was a committed Panther.
"Things change though and I can assure all Steelers fans from this moment forward I am as committed and determined for them and their club as I was for Nottingham."
The Steelers finished above the Panthers in the Elite League standings last season but suffered a shock defeat by Hull Stingrays in the play-offs.
