Stewart focused on Panthers stint

Nottingham Panthers forward David Ling says he is still settling in despite hitting a hat-trick as his new side earned a 4-2 Elite League and Challenge Cup win over Cardiff Devils on Tuesday.

Ling scored twice in the opening period and once in the third, with Matt Francis also on target.

He told BBC Radio Nottingham: "It was coming. I was getting the chances, but they weren't going in.

"It was coming and it's nice to get the confidence rolling."

Ling, 37, added: "My timing was a little off. I am learning to play with new guys and a new system and I am still learning.

"But it was a good night and you cherish nights like this."

Panthers, who beat fierce rivals Sheffield Steelers in a shootout last Saturday, face Coventry Blaze at the National Ice Centre on Friday and then are away against Belfast Giants on Saturday.
