Dundee Stars win 3-2 in overtime to bring the Belfast Giants' nine-match winning run to a halt.

Belfast Giants's nine-game winning run ended as they lost out in over-time against Dundee at the Odyssey Arena.

Despite the 3-2 defeat, Belfast have extended their lead at the top of Elite League to 14 points after Braehead were beaten at home by Sheffield.

Jeffrey Szwez put Belfast ahead on Saturday before Brock McPherson and Rory Rawlyk netted for Dundee.

Kevin Saurette's last-gasp equaliser ensured over-time but Nikita Kashirsky scored Dundee's winner.

With the Giants losing in over-time, they earned one league point which moved them onto the 50-point mark in the table.

Dundee and Sheffield have joined Braehead on 36 points with Nottingham a further point back in fifth spot.

Braehead and Sheffield both have two games in hand on the Giants with Dundee and Nottingham having played three matches fewer that the Elite League leaders.

Despite Saturday's night's slip-up, the Giants are still in a commanding position in the table with 21 games left.
