Scottish ice hockey: Braehead Clan maintain fine form

Edinburgh beat west coast rivals Braehead at the weekend

Braehead Clan secured their fourth Elite League win on the bounce with a 4-3 overtime triumph against Nottingham Panthers.

Neil Trimm was the hero with the crucial goal just 46 seconds into the first overtime period.

Stefan Meyer scored a double and Matt Keith was also on target for the Clan.

The league's bottom side, Dundee Stars, slumped to a 6-3 defeat against unbeaten Sheffield Steelers, despite twice taking the lead.

Goals from John Mitchell and Rob Ricci had given Dundee the edge, but Rodney Sarich and Gord Baldwin squared it on both occasions before Mathieu Roy and Jonathan Phillips gave Steelers the lead.

Matt Ryan set up a tense finale but Sheffield recorded their fourth straight win thanks to Tyler Mosienko and Jay Latulippe.
