Sheffield Steelers have confirmed Canadian right-winger Guillaume Desbiens will return next season.
The 30-year-old, who played 451 games in the American Hockey League, has scored eight goals in 38 games for the Steelers.
"I think in many ways his signing helped turn our season around," head coach Paul Thompson said.
"He is a man and plays like one. We are building a core group and he is right in the heart of it."
Desbiens is likely to miss Saturday's game against Fife Flyers after picking up a match penalty during Sheffield's defeat by Coventry Blaze on Sunday.
