Elite League: Nottingham Panthers 1-2 Cardiff Devils
Cardiff Devils edged Nottingham Panthers on Saturday to join their hosts at the top of the Elite League.
Devils scored two minutes into the game when Paul Crowder batted the puck out of the air past Patrick Galbraith.
Joey Martin doubled the visitors' lead in front of nearly 6,000 fans at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham.
Panthers finally found a way past Ben Bowns in the final period when Zack Phillips struck, but the Devils net minder was unbeatable after that.
Bowns saved 20 of the 21 shots he faced, while Panthers' Galbraith had 37 shots rain down on him.
Devils' win, following Friday's night's 4-2 victory over Guildford Flames, saw them into a three-way tie at the top with Panthers and Belfast Giants - although those two both have games on Sunday, while Devils are next in action on 16 December at home to Sheffield Steelers.
