British judoka Natalie Powell missed out on the -78kg bronze medal on the final day of the Dusseldorf Grand Prix.

Powell lost out to Anamari Velensek in the bronze medal play-off, with the Slovenian winning by ippon.

The Commonwealth champion, 25, was beaten by Germany's Luise Malzahn in the semi-final earlier in the day at the Mitsubishi Electric Halle.

The 25-year-old, who won bronze at the Paris Grand Slam two weeks ago, finished the tournament in fifth place.

On Saturday, Alice Schlesinger was beaten by reigning world champion Tina Trstenjak in the -63kg final.

The Israel-born GB judoka, who won gold at the Dusseldorf Grand Prix last year, had to settle for silver after the Slovenian scored a match-winning ippon in the final.

The 27-year-old beat Israel's Yarden Gerbi in the semi-final, forcing a submission with a juji-gatame arm lock.
