    What next?

    Premier League

Benoit Assou-Ekotto left Tottenham today and as a free agent could be allowed to join another club in the Premier League outside of the window.

  2. Text us on 81111

Andy - Season ticket holder: I'm glad QPR haven't signed anyone we already have good players. All we need is a manager with modern ideas to get the best out of the squad.

Andy: Good luck Darren Fletcher, all the best for the future at WBA you served United well, all the best.

James, Finsbury Park: Kellett to United is the strangest loan since Conor Thomas from Coventry to Liverpool in 2011. He never played a minute.

  3. BreakingDONE DEAL

A late one - Norwich sign midfielder Tony Andreu from Hamilton, following recently-appointed Canaries boss Alex Neil to Carrow Road.

  4. Post update

    Cahill does China

    Tim Cahill

Former Everton midfielder Tim Cahill will not be coming back to the Premier League - he has joined Shanghai Shenhua after the New York Red Bulls announced he had left the club by mutual consent.

The 35-year-old said: "I've done the Premier League, I've done America. New York was amazing for me but China is a growing market in football.

"You see in the Asian Cup quarter-final game that we played against China, millions of people watched it and I'm someone who is embracing culture and a different aspect of life.

"I'm at an age where I want to give something back to football and still play at a high level.

"I think it's exciting. To still be in demand and have the offers I've had is special but this will be massive for me as a player on and off the park."

  5. Post update

    N'Doye done

    Hull City

Hull vice-chairman Ehab Allam on the signing of Dame D'Noye:

"It's taken us three weeks and we almost missed the deadline so it's been fantastic news to get it over the line. It's just been a long day of negotiations, very stressful. It's broken down on several occasions but Steve Bruce was in France with the player and he managed to get it over the line."

  6. Celtic wrap up double deal

Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven have joined Celtic from Dundee United after the clubs agreed deals on transfer deadline day.

Celtic had offered United £250,000 to take winger Mackay-Steven, 24, now rather than wait until the summer, a move that had already been agreed.

And the Glasgow club agreed a deal for both players of £2m plus add-ons.

  7. West Ham woe

    West Ham

West Ham co-chairman David Gold: "Sorry for keeping you up late but at the last moment the main deal collapsed and the rest folded like a pack of cards. Stay strong.

"I'd like to thank David Sullivan and Sam Allardyce for their efforts to secure new players during this window. However, no matter how hard you tried there are people out there that you just can't do business with."

  8. Vote result

    Cuadrado on top

Who has been the best signing of the January window? Juan Cuadrado to Chelsea tops the list according to you, winning 24.1% of the vote. He edged out new Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony (15.6%) and Sunderland's Jermain Defoe (14.8%).

    Thanks for voting.

  9. Join the debate at #bbcdeadlineday

Bentley Baxter: Not only did QPR sign no players on deadline day, they also alienated the one signing they did make in Zarate. Disastrous day.

Gregory P: Think Derby have had a great day, strengthened the squad whereas the other top championship clubs haven't

Lloyd Grose: Kellett was terrific for us, but can't say I'm not shocked @ManUtd have taken him! #pafc

  10. Post update

We take it from that announcement - and various unconfirmed reports - that West Brom have failed in their bids to sign Carlton Cole from West Ham and Martin Olsson from Norwich.

No confirmation as of yet though.

  11. BreakingDONE DEAL

    Albion sign Fletcher

    West Brom

David Ornstein told you the news a while ago but official confirmation that Darren Fletcher has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal at West Brom.

  12. BreakingDONE DEAL

    N'Doye done

    Hull City

Steve Bruce is a man of his word. Hull confirm the signing of Senegal international striker Dame N'Doye from Lokomotiv Moscow for an undisclosed fee. The 29-year-old has penned a two-and-a-half-year deal.

  13. Post update

    N'Doye done?

    Hull City

It seems that Hull's pursuit of a striker has paid off. Steve Bruce has just texted the BBC's Simon Clark to say the Dame N'Doye deal to Hull City is done. Bruce has spent the day in Paris on the deal.

We are awaiting official confirmation that it is all done and dusted.

  14. Post update

    Who is Andy Kellett?

    Man Utd

Plymouth Argyle: "Sometimes you have to accept missing out on a player. Good luck at @ManUtd, @AndyKell13. We'll always have this.. bit.ly/AndyKellettGoal."

Andy Kellett's only career goal came for Plymouth against Northampton Town in League Two.

  15. BreakingDONE DEAL

Oldham Athletic have added another striker to their squad, with Dagenham's Rhys Murphy joining for an undisclosed fee. Manchester United were presumably keen on a loan move.

  16. Post update

    Who is Andy Kellett?

Andy Kellett was number 43 for Bolton and has made one appearance for Wanderers this season. A quite bizarre signing.

I can't imagine Louis van Gaal was at Rotherham last week to see him play 50-odd minutes in a 4-2 defeat at Rotherham...

  17. Post update

    West Ham

West Ham co-chairman David Gold: "Sorry for keeping you up late but at the last moment the main deal collapsed and the rest folded like a pack of cards. Stay strong."

  18. Post update

    Who is Andy Kellett?

    Man Utd

There's something very odd about this. Bolton defender Andy Kellett signs for Manchester United having recently returned from a three-month loan spell at Plymouth.

That's United signing players from Salford City and Bolton in the last few weeks. Very odd...

  19. BreakingDONE DEAL

    United sign Bolton youngster

    Man Utd

Possibly the oddest signing of the day! Manchester United have signed young defender Andy Kellett on loan from Bolton Wanderers until the end of the season, with Saidy Janko going the other way.

  20. Post update

There are reports that snow on the A14 may have played a part in the breakdown of Martin Olsson's proposed move from Norwich to West Brom, and Graham Dorrans' move the other way.

Mother nature cannot be tamed, deadline day or no deadline day...

We await confirmation on all of those moves at The Hawthorns.

  21. Post update

Darren Fletcher is a done deal then, but we are still waiting to hear whether West Brom managed to complete any other business tonight.

  22. Text us on 81111

Alex in Leeds: As a Man Utd fan I don't want to see Darren Fletcher turning out for West Brom. Would be as painful as seeing Ji Sung Park's career go down the drain at QPR.

  23. BreakingDONE DEAL

    David Ornstein

    BBC Sport

"West Brom have signed midfielder Darren Fletcher on a free transfer from Manchester United."

  24. BreakingDONE DEAL

Sheffield Wednesday sign Portugese midfielder Melo on a three-and-a-half year deal.

  25. BreakingDONE DEALS

Remarkable stuff at Rangers, who have signed not one, not two, but FIVE Newcastle players on loan.

Gael Bigirimana, Kevin Mbabu, Shane Ferguson, Remie Streete and Haris Vuckic have all joined. How is that even allowed?

  26. Text us on 81111

Dave Light in Maidstone: Always liked Aaron Lennon, I'm glad to see him at Goodison Park. Well done Everton.

Will Chatterton in Eastbourne: Think Zaha has a second chance now to show what a talent he can be. England superstar?

  27. BreakingDONE DEAL

League One Bradford City have signed Blackpool centre-half Gary MacKenzie on loan until the end of the season.

  28. BreakingDONE DEAL

Still some late transfers trickling through from the Championship - Wigan Athletic's Andy Delort has returned to French club Tours on loan until the end of the season.

  29. Post update

    Former England midfielder Danny Murphy

    BBC Sport

"Darren Fletcher could be a big influence for West Brom if the deal is confirmed. With Callum McManaman and Carlton Cole, that could be enough to keep them up."

  30. Outstanding deals

So there are still a few moves that could yet go through. Will any of these come off tonight?

Martin Olsson - Norwich to West Brom.Darren Fletcher - Manchester United - West Brom.

Carlton Cole - West Ham to West Brom.

Emmanuel Adebayor - Tottenham to ?

Dame N'Doye - Lokomotiv Moscow to Hull.

  31. Post update

    Jermaine Jenas

    Former England midfielder

"There are a few deals that were done early doors, such as Wilfried Bony to Manchester City and Kyle Naughton to Swansea. It has been a quiet day. For me, this is the way it should be. The rush mentality is not that great."

  32. Text us on 81111

Chris in Chester: Looking forward to the first Lennon and McCarthy headline at Everton.

Laser Clay Shooter in Bristol: I was longing to hear Derby had loaned Januzaj from Utd but heyho Jesse Lingard and Tom Ince will help us get to the promised land, come on you Rams.

  33. BreakingDONE DEAL

Bolton manager Neil Lennon has returned to former club Celtic to sign Czech midfielder Filip Twardzik for an undisclosed fee.

  34. Post update

We are 20 minutes past the deadline but we still expect a fair few signings to go through. West Brom were hoping to get three signings through the door. We'll see...

  35. Post update

    Former England midfielder Danny Murphy

    BBC Sport

"Crystal Palace will be happy with the business they have done during the transfer window. What Alan Pardew has done there is establish a real feel-good factor."

  36. Text us on 81111

Nick in Nottingham: Such a disappointing transfer deadline day for us Liverpool fans by not managing to sell Mario Balotelli.

Tjay from Kings Lynn: Lennon to Everton has to be the best transfer of the window, right? My beloved Manchester United have done themselves no favours by letting Zaha go.

  37. Vote

    January's best signing

Let's be honest, it's not been the most exciting deadline day, but there have been some significant signings throughout the month.

  38. Post update

    Spurs sign Alli

Football League fans will be no stranger to the talents of Dele Alli, he has scored 12 goals this season from centre midfield and looks to be a cracking prospect.

  39. Post update

    Spurs sign Alli

    Phil Neville

    BBC Sport

"Dele Alli is very impressive, he played in the England youth teams. He can go all the way to the top. Liverpool were linked to him but a great buy for the future for Spurs.

"He is brave, box-to-box player and has great technique. He has learnt his trade at MK Dons and can now have the confidence to take it on to the big stage."

  40. BreakingDONE DEAL

    Spurs sign Alli

    Tottenham

Tottenham have agreed to sign MK Dons midfielder Dele Alli on a five-and-a-half-year contract for a fee in the region of £5m plus add-ons.

Ali will be loaned back to the League One side until the end of the season. What a move for the 18-year-old.

  41. Text us on 81111

Kim in Southampton: Not a surprise to Saints fans, Ryan Bertrand stated he wanted a permanent move earlier in the season. Excellent news. Can I go to bed now?

Not yet, Kim. We still think there's one or two more deals to be confirmed in the Premier League within the next hour or two.

  42. Post update

    Kane's new deal

    Jermaine Jenas

    Former England midfielder

"It is good business all round from Spurs, the lad Harry Kane deserves his new contract. Liverpool do that a lot, when a player is performing well, they reward them. He is so prolific now and a joy to watch.

"Kane used to be hard working in training, grabbing a bag of balls when it finished and finding a goalkeeper to take shots on goal whenever everyone had left."

  43. Post update

    Tigers on time?

    Hull City

Hull say that a deal sheet has been submitted for a late move. "Did we make it in on time? Currently awaiting confirmation" they say...

  44. Post update

    Ian Dennis

BBC Radio 5 live senior football reporter

"Hull City are still confident of signing Dame N'Doye from Lokomotiv Moscow. It is a work permit issue. Manager Steve Bruce is in France trying to sort it out."

  45. Post update

    Former England midfielder Danny Murphy

    BBC Sport

"Callum McManaman is a creative, quick, talented young lad who is going to get better. He's good value for West Brom, not too expensive. He's a bit different to what they have got. West Brom are struggling a little bit in creative areas so he will add some energy and give them a lift."

  46. Post update

Is Leon Clarke the man to keep Wigan up?

  47. Post update

    Phil Neville

    BBC Sport

"When you try and recruit a player, you look at every facet. Gabriel looks like someone who ca read the game and has great potential for Arsenal."

  48. BreakingDONE DEAL

Wigan Athletic have signed striker Leon Clarke from fellow Championship side Wolves on loan until the end of the season.

  49. Text us on 81111

From Andrew in St Andrews: Re 22:24: I do believe that when Keith Hill is referring to the number 9/11 position, this would be what Football Manager would call a Wide Target Man - a target man with a bit of flair. Think maybe of a tall Jesus Navas or a slightly quicker Peter Crouch. In real-life/FM (same thing really) an example would be Hearts' Callum Paterson.

  50. Post update

Ryan Bertrand won the Champions League with Chelsea a few years ago, Ronald Koeman has built a formidable squad hasn't he this year?

  51. BreakingDONE DEAL

    Bertrand to Saints

    Southampton

A bit of a surprise this one, as Southampton complete the permanent signing of left-back Ryan Bertrand from Chelsea after his successful loan spell.

  52. BreakingDONE DEAL

Manchester United youngster Jesse Lingard has joined Derby County on loan for the remainder of the season.

  53. Post update

    Jermaine Jenas

    Former England midfielder

"Everton was the better choice than Hull for Aaron Lennon. Hull are in the relegation fight and Everton will get a lift from his signing. Aaron will get the game time he needs so it is good business for both player and club."

  54. THE TRANSFER WINDOW HAS CLOSED

    Clock

    BONG!

That's it. The January transfer window is officially closed.

No more deals to be done. Except for the 10 or 15 that will come through in the next few hours anyway...

  55. Post update

    Fletcher on the move?

    Phil Neville

    BBC Sport

"Darren Fletcher has missed so much football for Manchester United because of his illness, he wants to just play football now. He will give great experience and leadership to West Brom."

  56. Post update

    Former England midfielder Danny Murphy

    BBC Sport

"What Chelsea get by signing Juan Cuadrado is a real competition for places. The players Chelsea have signed have improved them - none of them have been big risks."

  57. Post update

    Ian Dennis

BBC Radio 5 live senior football reporter

"With the deadline minutes away, a draft sheet can buy clubs an extension, then we get the drip of deals after the 23:00 GMT deadline. West Brom manager Tony Pulis is hopeful of adding West Ham striker Carlton Cole, Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher and Norwich full-back Martin Olsson."

  58. FINAL FIVE

Into the final five minutes of the transfer window. Clubs can get an extension as long as they have submitted a 'draft sheet'.

    I know. It's ridiculous isn't it...

  59. Post update

    Jermaine Jenas

    Former England midfielder

"One of the reasons why Jose Mourinho let Andre Schurrle go is because he couldn't be trusted. He needs players in their positions doing their jobs. Schurrle could only go forward and score goals."

  60. Post update

    Phil Neville

    BBC Sport

"Juan Cuadrado is a brilliant signing, he has great running power from box to box. He is a good dribbler but is devastating when he passes and moves forward."

  61. Post update

So as we enter the final 10 minutes of the window, West Brom are still hopeful of landing three targets, while the future of Emmanuel Adebayor remains up in the air.

My three-hour window for cooking some brisket earlier was criticised by Marek on twitter who advises that we now have 'just enough time to rustle up a ham and egg toasted sandwich in the Breville'.

    Magic.

  62. Post update

    Lennon signs for Everton

    Everton

"We all know what Aaron will bring to our squad with his experience and know-how, his involvement with England in two World Cups and the landmarks he has set in the Premier League," Roberto Martinez told Everton's website.

"At 27, Aaron will be a really important asset to our squad and he will represent a real boost in terms of attacking options from now to the end of the season. His pace and trickery will fit in well at Goodison."

    French Ligue 1

BBC World Service Sport's John Bennett:

"Finally one of the top three in France has done some business. Lucas Ocampos has completed his move to Marseille, on loan from Monaco.

"He was tipped for big things when he was at River Plate and now he'll be hoping to help Marseille to their first Ligue 1 title since 2010."

  67. Adebayor deal off?

    Palace re-sign Zaha

We first reported that hours ago but now it has gone through.

    Italian Serie A

BBC World Service Sport's John Bennett:

"It's been a bad day for Sampdoria after Samuel Eto'o reportedly stormed out of the training centre but some better news for the club just before the deadline.

"Ezequiel Munoz has signed from Palermo on loan until the end of the season. The centre-back's contract at Palermo is up at the end of the season so it could turn into a permanent deal.

"Munoz was also linked to AC Milan and West Ham."

  72. Post update

Two Premier League moves there - it is starting to happen again. Hang on for the next half hour or so...

  73. BreakingDONE DEAL

    Lee/Bannan swap deal

Crystal Palace have signed winger Lee Chung-yong from Bolton, with Scotland midfielder Barry Bannan joining Bolton on loan as part of the deal.

  74. BreakingDONE DEAL

    Lennon signs for Everton

    Everton

Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon joins Everton on loan for the rest of the season.

  75. BreakingDONE DEALS

Accrington have made their third signing of the day, bringing in Fleetwood goalkeeper Scott Davies on loan until the end of the season.

And there's another arrival in at Port Vale, with Hull striker Greg Luer joining for a month.

  76. Post update

    West Brom

Carlton Cole and Darren Fletcher are having their medicals at West Brom - both deals are expected to go through without a hitch in the next half an hour or so.

  77. Text us on 81111

Steve in Norwich: Daniel Levy does it again! He's completely ruined Tottenham's chance of a decent run to the end of the season, just like when he failed to buy a striker in the Bale days.

  78. Latest from Hull

    Hull City

BBC Sport's Juliette Ferrington reports: "Hull City remain hopeful of completing the permanent transfer of Senegal striker Dame N'Doye. It's been a long negotiation process and manager Steve Bruce is still in Paris along with club secretary Matt Wild as they try to push through the move before tonight's deadline."

  79. The view from the gamer world

    Adebayor to West Ham?

    David Bytheway

    Fifa gamer

    Tottenham forward Emmanuel Adebayor

"Emmanuel Adebayor would be a decent signing for West Ham should they pull it off. He's a tall, strong player just like Andy Carroll but less injury prone. With 84 strength and 85 heading accuracy, he's similar to Carroll in that sense albeit not as good.

"However, he does offer better play on the ground with 81 dribbling and 82 finishing compared with Carroll's 66 dribbling and 76 finishing. Overall Adebayor is three ratings better than Carroll and would add some depth to the squad."

  80. The old 9/11 position

Rochdale manager Keith Hill may not look like a football hipster, but he is at heart. Here's what he had to say about Matty Done's move to Sheffield United.

"Matty Done has had a hell of time at the club. He helped us get promoted, albeit in a different position, and has been magnificent since we moved him to a number nine/11 position."

    Any idea what that is?

  81. Post update

Forty minutes to go. Those panic signings I was hoping for don't look like arriving.

  82. BreakingDONE DEAL

    Alli on his way?

    Tottenham

Spurs have been strongly linked with a move for MK Dons' outstanding young midfielder Dele Alli all day - and the Dons have just re-signed Keith Andrews on loan from Bolton.

Is Andrews a replacement for Alli? Andrews was brilliant for the Dons in his previous spell there.

  83. Text us on 81111

Chris in Hitchen: Wonder if Tom Ince regrets snubbing a move to the San Siro in the summer?

  84. BreakingDONE DEALS

Another Stevenage signing to tell you about - striker Danny Johnson has joined on a month's loan from Cardiff City.

And after signing Thomas Ince on loan in the last hour, Derby have allowed teenager Ivan Calero to join neighbours Burton on a month's loan.

  85. Post update

    West Ham

And maybe West Ham fans are set for more transfer news. Co-chairman David Gold has just tweeted the cryptic message ' Don't go to bed.'

Doria – linked with West Ham

    Alex Stewart

    Football Manager computer game expert

Today, Fifa Interactive World Cup 2014 Grand Final competitor David Bytheway and Football Manager expert Alex Stewart will be providing insight and analysis of players involved in deals from a gamer's perspective.

"Doria was one of last year's Football Manager's outstanding defenders, the Alvarez Balanta of 2013-14. He is athletic and develops into a superb defender, although clubs are often warned off him by a supposedly selfish attitude and a lack of ambition. That's in a computer simulation, though; in the real world, Doria would likely be a brilliant signing for the Hammers."

  87. Text us on 81111

Andy in York: Well this is exciting - not! Only one great signing so far and that's Cuadrado to Chelsea.

Andy in Coventry: You know it's a boring deadline day when the most exciting news you can find is that Darren Fletcher 'might' move somewhere!

Leo in Norwich: If Adebayor completes a loan move to West Ham, Tottenham will be left with only two recognised strikers. Risky with Europa League commitments.

  88. Post update

    Redknapp at it again

    Harry Redknapp

It wouldn't be the last hour of transfer deadline day without some Harry Redknapp wheeling and dealing. And yes, I know he doesn't like that. But how else can you explain him trying to sign West Ham winger Matthew Jarvis on loan by sending West Ham forward Mauro Zarate back from his loan spell?Zarate only joined QPR a few weeks ago and it is against rules, never mind manners, to get rid of him so soon.

  89. BreakingDONE DEALS

Another Done deal! No, really, it's literally a Done deal. Versatile attacker Matt Done has left Rochdale for fellow League One promotion-chasers Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee.

Elsewhere in the Football League, QPR's Bruno Andrade has joined Stevenage on a one-month loan deal.

  90. The view from the gamer world

    Tom Ince to Derby County

    David Bytheway

    Fifa gamer

    Tom Ince

Today, Fifa Interactive World Cup 2014 Grand Final competitor David Bytheway and Football Manager expert Alex Stewart will be providing insight and analysis of players involved in deals from a gamer's perspective.

"Tom Ince is a great signing for Derby. He showed at Blackpool that he's a good Championship player and he could play a key part in Derby's automatic promotion push. Derby don't have great pace in wide positions but Ince brings 82 acceleration and 85 agility which can make him really tricky down the wings."

Read more about Tom Ince joining Derby County from Hull City on loan on the BBC Sport website.

  91. Post update

    'It gets frothy'

    BBC Radio 5 live

Ex-Hull City chairman Paul Duffen: "Benchwarmers have been around for a long time. Getting players out in the market, there are problems such as liquidity. Clubs don't have it, apart from Chelsea today. It gets frothy when a lot of things start happening a the same time, today that hasn't happened.

"There is the danger in January for a player that if it goes wrong, it could harm their career. They could find they go on-loan at a club who get relegated and end up in a worse situation than they were."

    ONE HOUR TO GO

    Europe

ONE HOUR TO GO. The final countdown has begun. We are into true panic signing territory now. Twitchy ass time as LvG would probably call it.

There must be at least one more big move out there. Emmanuel Adebayor? Aaron Lennon? Darren Fletcher? Anderson? Dele Alli?

  93. Post update

    Adebayor on the move?

    West Ham

BBC Sport's Ben Smith: "I am told West Ham are still working on a deal to sign Emmanuel Adebayor. QPR are interested and remain so but the player has indicated that he is willing to join West Ham. Now down to whether Spurs chairman Daniel Levy allows him to."

  94. Text us on 81111

Sam in Bury St Edmunds: This has got to be one of the most boring deadline days in history, Cuadrado is class, he should shift Willian out of the way no problems whatsoever, but what are the bottom clubs thinking?

Tim in Marlow: Transfer "DUD" line day?

Chris in Aberystwyth: Great to hear Rickie Lambert is staying at Liverpool. With Sturridge back and Sterling's pace, Liverpool will hopefully finish the season better than they started.

  95. Post update

    BBC Radio 5 live

Ex Hull City chairman Paul Duffen: "It is always an interesting day, one you don't want to be thrust into. It is such a dangerous game, as the clock is ticking down, you are only in there because you are desperate at one end or ambitious at the other.

"Deadline day means that if you haven't done your business, it means you are waiting for a transfer target to get freed up from the domino effect. Otherwise it is precarious, waiting for something to pop up.

"The medical side of things, after lunchtime you won't get a meaningful medical. You then need to have to have faith in your doctors to have a good relationship with the transfer team."

"Aaron Lennon is one of the fastest and most agile players on Fifa. If I ever play with Spurs, he's always a starter. 92 pace, 94 agility and 92 balance - he would be a good fit for Everton who lack any real pace in wide positions."

"Darren Fletcher has been on a slow decline in the past few versions of Fifa but still has some good defensive stats that would make him a good player to have in front of your defence. 89 aggression, 83 interceptions and 85 passing suggest he is a very good defensive player who can pick a pass as well. As a Wolves fan I'd rather see him retire than play for West Brom but he seems a perfect fit for the struggling Baggies."

"It's also a shambles the Football League allow this nonsense to carry on and not for the first time. I'm also sure we are not only club who it has happened to but the knock on effect is outrageous and doesn't help a club like Peterborough that's for sure!"

Within a few seasons, his stats for dribbling, first touch and vision improve significantly, as do his physical attributes. In Football Manager, he's not the sort of player who gets signed by an Arsenal or a Juventus, but he would be worth a punt for any mid-table Premier League side with an eye on development."

"Internacional seem to be offering Anderson a four-year contract. Why would you offer that so someone who hasn't done a great deal for a while? Even if he is firing on all cylinders, he is not the same Anderson of four-five years ago. He was an absolute flier, he had this sustained pace and was hard to handle.

Pity poor Yevhen Konoplyanka, he doesn't have a lot of luck with transfers. You may remember the Ukraine winger was all set to join Liverpool exactly one year ago today, only for the deal to fall through. It would appear the same fate has again befallen the 25-year-old, who was due to join Italian side Roma, but now isn't.

Russian journalist Artur Petrosyan recently tweeted this quote from the player's agent, Oliver Cabrera: "Konoplyanka wanted a Roma move, but the Italians were unprofessional so it collapsed. He's staying at Dnipro".

  145. Classy Cuadrado

    Tim Vickery

    BBC Sport

"Jose Mourinho argues that football games are won and lost in the transitions.

"Juan Cuadrado has pace and thrust in the transitions. Colombia were forced to defend deep in the World Cup, to protect captain and defender Mario Yepes but Cuadrado took them forward. He is a runner and elusive and adding goals to his games. He is a very interesting addition to Chelsea.

"Cuadrado is a symbol of how Colombia have developed. His father was shot dead when he was four, he was hiding under the bed when it happened. His mother is the hero and kept it all together. She saw he was strong at football and let him do that. he has shown plenty of maturity and resilience in his life."

"The talks have concluded and there is an agreement in place between all parties.

"There was interest from four other clubs, including Hull, Stoke and QPR, but Lennon rejected them all.

"The 27-year-old has made 17 appearances for Spurs this season and 365 since joining from Leeds United in 2005, scoring 30 goals."

  152. Adebayor to QPR?

    Jermaine Jenas

    Former England midfielder

"I would take a risk on Emmanuel Adebayor. Harry Redknapp has got the best out of him in the past and they are in a situation where they can't buy anybody. Loan deals are the only option.

    Juan Cuadrado

Today Fifa Interactive World Cup 2014 Grand Final competitor David Bytheway and Football Manager expert Alex Stewart will be providing insight and analysis of players involved in deals from a gamer's perspective.

"Cuadrado is a popular player on Fifa 15 because he's extremely fast and has five star skill moves which is up there with the likes of Neymar and Ronaldo. Schurrle is a useful player because he has decent pace and is always a threat around the box due to his good shooting stats. Both players trade even blows in the attacking and technical department and are both great attacking options but it's the defensive work that separates them.

"Cuadrado's defensive stats are substantially better than Schurrle's. His marking is 54 which is 31 ratings better than Schurrle's dismal 23. It's not just the marking he wins in, his standing and sliding tackle stats are 25 and 23 ratings better which makes it an easy win for Cuadrado."

    Ings to Sociedad?

    Kevin Kilbane

    BBC Sport

"Real Sociedad possibly signing Danny Ings would mean they get him on a free at the end of the season. It is great move from David Moyes. If it doesn't work out, he could move back to the Premier League for a fee. He is a Moyes type player too, works hard and can play up top on his own."

  174. BreakingDONE DEAL

From Real Madrid to Accrington Stanley

"Former Real Madrid youngster joins Accrington" isn't something you see every day. But this is transfer deadline day, and it's happened. Midfielder Gerardo Bruna, also once of Liverpool, has signed a deal with the League Two club until the end of the season.

Accrington need a keeper though. I urge you to watch the mighty Cobblers' five goals past them on Saturday. The keeper's had an absolute mare...

Chapman will be joined in the studio by former England internationals Danny Murphy, Phil Neville and Jermaine Jenas, with QPR midfielder Joey Barton also giving his views.

    Former England midfielder Danny Murphy

    BBC Sport

"It is difficult for managers because there is such a desire from supporters to sign someone. They need someone who is going to make that team better. The clever managers get their business done early then watch the others panic."

  179. Newcastle Rangers FC?

    Gael Bigirimana

Rangers are hopeful of concluding loan deals for four Newcastle players before the midnight transfer deadline in Scotland. Gael Bigirimana, Haris Vuckic, Kevin Mbabu and Remie Streete are the players involved. Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has recently agreed to lend Rangers £10m.

And half a team by the sound of it...

We are still waiting for Wilfried Zaha's move to Palace to be confirmed.

  181. Fletcher to West Brom?

    Pat Murphy

    BBC Radio 5 live

"I'm hearing that the chances of Darren Fletcher joining West Brom on a free transfer are getting stronger. With West Brom shipping out Georgios Samaras, Brown Ideye, Silvestre Varela and Sebastina Blanco in the near future, some money spent on wages will be freed up. So if salary is the sticking point for Fletcher, there is now some wriggle room.

"Also the swap deal involving Graham Dorrans and Martin Olsson of Norwich is almost done. The Swedish international Olsson would solve West Brom's problem at full-back. The value of the package is around £4m."

    Santon heads home

    Newcastle United

Newcastle full-back Davide Santon has had enough of being behind Paul Dummett in the pecking order and has moved back to former club Inter Milan.

  184. Taking a risk?

    Kevin Kilbane

    BBC Sport

"I was signing for Sunderland. A lack of time meant I had no medical because the deal was so close to the 5pm deadline. I couldn't travel down from Everton so I signed the forms without having a medical. It was a risk from both sides."

Will teams at the bottom of the league make a similar risky move this evening?

  185. 'Living the dream'

    Chelsea sign Juan Cuadrado

    Chelsea

Signing a mega-money move on transfer deadline day must be pretty fulfilling, even for a seasoned international. And new Chelsea man Juan Cuadrado has read the script.

"I am very happy and thankful for this opportunity I've been given. This is a great club and honestly it is like a dream to join the Chelsea family and to know that the manager believes in me. I'm happy," said the 26-year-old, who has been capped 37 times by Colombia, on Chelsea's website.

  186. The view from the gaming world

Tim Cahill leaves New York Red Bulls

    David Bytheway

    Fifa gamer

    Former Everton forward Tim Cahill

Today Fifa Interactive World Cup 2014 Grand Final competitor David Bytheway and Football Manager expert Alex Stewart will be providing insight and analysis of players involved in deals from a gamer's perspective.

"Tim Cahill could easily be an important player for a mid-tabled Premier League team should they choose to sign him. With 99 out of 99 jumping and 94 heading accuracy on Fifa 15, he'd be a real threat from set pieces and could score some important goals. He's a very good option to have, even if it's just as a back-up. He could always take up high jumping in the Olympics if football doesn't work out..."

    Former England midfielder Danny Murphy

    BBC Sport

"Harry Kane signing a new contract with Spurs is brilliant. If Emmanuel Adebayor goes, then they shouldn't just rely on Roberto Soldado to cover. There is a possibility for someone to come in. Knowing chairman Daniel Levy, it's a possibility."

  188. Remember me?

    Alex Hleb

BBC World Service Sport's John Bennett:

"Remember Alexander Hleb? The former Arsenal midfielder is on the move on deadline day. Hleb has just left Konyaspor but is staying in Turkey. The 33 year-old has joined Gençlerbirligi Spor Kulubu."

"He made 89 league appearances for Arsenal between 2005 and 2008 before leaving to join Barcelona."

    Chelsea sign Juan Cuadrado

The signing of Juan Cuadrado is expected to cost Chelsea a reported £23.3m, but don't forget they recouped £22m just an hour or so ago when they sold Andre Schurrle to Wolfsburg.

Which club has got the best deal? Only time will tell.
