    Manchester City

And here's some John Stones for you, on his move to the Etihad Stadium.

“You don't get these opportunities to work with the best manager in the world and at a top club and in the Champions League. I feel now was the right time for the next step in my career.

“I know I've got to fight for my place. I'll just try to show everyone what I can do and earn my place and try to get that starting spot.

“We work hard and the gaffer works hard to get it across to us what the opposition are going to do. We can only go out and try and beat them and that's what we're going to do tonight for tomorrow’s game.”

  4. Manchester City news conference

Steaua Bucharest v Man City (Tue, 19:45 BST)

    Manchester City

More from Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola: “At the end, the pitch is the pitch and everything is level. It depends on our game.

"Every coach and every manager has his own ideas. I have one that I believe in a lot and I try every training session and every game to convince these guys that this is the best way to win the game."

  5. Just in case you needed reminding...

  6. Manchester City news conference

Steaua Bucharest v Man City (Tue, 19:45 BST)

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was also asked why Yaya Toure has not travelled with the squad for Tuesday's Champions League play-off first leg.

    The reply?

“Yaya is training amazingly but I was not sure he was going to play, so I would prefer him to stay in Manchester.”

  7. Advocaat in at Fenerbahce?

Dick Advocaat has landed. He's in Istanbul - and close to being appointed as Fenerbahce's next manager.

The Dutchman resigned from his position as Netherlands assistant coach this morning, with Fenerbahce later announcing they had sacked their manager Vitor Pereira.

The official word from Turkish club Fener is that Advocaat has arrived for talks - but this looks pretty much done and dusted.

  9. Manchester City news conference

Steaua Bucharest v Man City (Tue, 19:45 BST)

    Manchester City

Pep is in the house. Here's the Manchester City manager's thoughts on his side's Romanian opponents. It's a Champions League play-off first leg on Tuesday. Winner takes all (well, half?).

"I have seen a lot of Steaua games and am very impressed. We are going to try and score goals and we are going to try and win.

"The first target is to try to play good. I would like the fans to go to the stadium and for them to think: 'Wow, I like how they play.'"

  10. Senderos training with Rangers

    Football

Former Arsenal, Fulham and Aston Villa defender Philippe Senderos is training with Scottish club Rangers.

Swiss international Senderos, 31, has most recently been playing his club football with Grasshoppers in his homeland.

  11. Manchester City news conference

Steaua Bucharest v Man City (Tue, 19:45 BST)

Just a reminder we're expecting to hear from Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and defender John Stones soon - 15:30 BST the official start time.

However. These things are quite often delayed...

And what with the plane taking City staff and media to Bucharest having to be evacuated earlier... We'll see when we get going. Stay frosty.

  12. Pogba quotes not true - Pirlo

    Pirlo

You may well have come across the thoughts of former Juventus midfielder Andrea Pirlo in the Daily Mail this weekend - or the Daily Telegraph for that matter.

He was quoted as saying that Juve are "still laughing" about the fact they were able to sign Paul Pogba from Manchester United for a nominal fee in 2012 - before selling him back for £89m this summer of course.

"On the first day training session Pogba had with Juventus the players were laughing," the full quotes read.

"We were not laughing for any other reason than we were just in total disbelief that this player with so much obvious ability was able to leave a club the size of Manchester United for free — and I think Juventus are still laughing."

But today, Pirlo has tweeted this:

  14. Chelsea's Brown joins Rotherham

Brown, 22, played 28 games on loan with Dutch side Vitesse Arhhem last season, and was part of the England Under-19 side that reached the semi-finals of this summer's European Championship.

  15. 'I'm confident we'll qualify'

Steaua Bucharest v Man City (Tue, 19:45 BST)

You'd be forgiven for being slightly overawed by the prospect of taking on Manchester City in a Champions League play-off. Two legs, winner goes through to the lucrative group stages...

Not Steaua Bucharest manager Laurentiu Reghecampf though. He wants to believe.

"We saw City play Sunderland and have all the information to play football well and achieve a positive result," he said.

"Even if we face a big team, even if we face the best coach in the world with fantastic results, it is a huge chance for us to prove ourselves.

"I am very confident that we will qualify for the group stage again. We have a strong team and the match starts at 0-0."
