US Open day eight

Andy Murray admitted he made "too many unforced errors" in his third round match against world number 40 Paolo Lorenzi and will be looking for a much improved performance in his match today.

His opponent? Bulgarian Grigor Dmitrov, who has a 6-3 losing record to the Scot, but he did come out on top in their last clash in Miami in March.

Murray is fourth on Arthur Ashe Court as he bids for a place in the quarter-finals.

Palace second in best sellers list

Crystal Palace have been ranked second in the European club rankings for most profitable summer sales. This largely down to the sale of Yannick Bolasie to Everton - a transfer that represents one of the highest gaps between fees paid (add-ons included) and amounts estimated via the CIES Football Observatory algorithm for player value.

Spanish side Sevilla head the club rankings, with Napoli's sale of Gonzalo Higuain the best value individual sale.

McIlroy closing on Casey

There is only one shot in it now at the Deutsche Bank Championship, with Rory McIlroy closing on Paul Casey. McIlroy has birdied three of his first seven holes to reach -12, while Casey, who began the day at -15 with a three-shot lead, has made two early bogeys.

Toure agent confident of options

Yaya Toure's agent expects to have a number of offers for the 33-year-old from England, China and the United States when the transfer window reopens.

The midfielder Ivorian, in the final year of his contract at Manchester City, is not wanted by new manager Pep Guardiola and was left out of the club's Champions League squad.

His representative Dimitri Seluk is already lining up deals for the player. "Yaya in January can sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs abroad," Seluk told the Daily Mail. "He will have many offers from clubs. China and America of course they want him but we will have a lot of offers from England and Europe."

Southgate speaks

England U21s v Norway U21s (17:45 BST)

More from England Under-21s manager Gareth Southgate: "When the senior team have won there is more of a buzz and everything feels a bit better. We are no different to the guys who have gone onto the building site and the office this morning.

"We want them to be successful and it gives everyone a lift when we score right at the end. Our work is to provide the next group of players and give them the best possible experiences."

Southgate speaks

England U21s v Norway U21s (Tues, 17:45 BST)

More from England Under-21s manager Gareth Southgate on Marcus Rashford: "I haven't spoken to Jose [Mourinho - Man Utd manager]. But Sam [Allardyce - senior England boss] and myself have discussed his inclusion in this squad and the way we deal with that.

"Moving forward it is always difficult to have a plan. I have seen boys progress so quickly. Eric and Dele were with us last September and by November they were in the senior squad and both in the starting team the following summer.

"The leaps can be so quick and you are never sure when it is going to happen. Some of that can depend on availability with the senior team as well. We know exactly where we are this week. Moving forward depends on how they play with their clubs and what injuries there might be and the performance of the senior team as well."

Tottenham celebrations

From the crease to the catwalk

We've heard from one eminent Jamaican sportsman today, here is another. Is Chris Gayle about to embark on a modelling career? He'd walk too slowly wouldn't he? "Slowly but surely..." is his definition on Instagram.

Southgate speaks

England U21s v Norway U21s (Tues, 17:45 BST)

England Under-21s manager Gareth Southgate on Marcus Rashford: "The most pleasing thing is that you would think he had been with us for a longer period of time. That is testimony to the mentality he has arrived here with and also to the way the rest of the boys work.

"They help new players settle in really easily. The training is the easy part. It is the bit away from that which is the key to making players feel comfortable. Everything so far has been excellent in that respect."

Southgate speaks

England U21s v Norway U21s Tues, 17:45 BST

More from England Under-21s manager Gareth Southgate: "If you looked through all of our team and the boys who are with the seniors, who could still play for us, Raheem Sterling, John Stones, Eric Dier, Delle Alli. You could ask any of them, at any given time, where are they at? They might be being written off or they are as high as a kite, whatever it might be.

"Callum Chambers is with us. He has been with the senior team before. This is the pathway for young players. They have to get used to dealing with the highs - not getting too carried away - but also being challenged. In theory he is moving down an age group but that is not going to be easy because the quality is so high. Dealing with those things as a young professional determines how far you go."

Southgate speaks

Englans U21s v Norway U21s (Tues, 17:45 BST)

England Under-21 manager Gareth Southgate has been speaking to media at St George's Park ahead of his side's European Championship qualifier against Norway in Colchester on Tueday. He started by talking about Jack Grealish, who has pulled out of the squad with an injury...

"Jack picked up a knock in training," he said. "We are hopeful it is not too serious but we didn't think he would be ready for the game and we wanted to give Aston Villa the opportunity to get him ready for the weekend. We are hopeful it is not too bad."
