Steve J: Best performance of the weekend has to go to Brighton. New manager, new style of football, playing away and win 3-0.

  9. Post update

As far as Paul Pogba goes that pass for Manchester United's third goal and his run for the fourth was something else wasn't it?

But the France World Cup winner was also pretty slack in possession as well, with an overall pass completion rate of 77%.

  10. Pogba 'question mark' over future?

    Paul Pogba

Speaking to broadcaster RMC, France midfielder Paul Pogba, 26, says there is always a "question mark" surrounding his future at Manchester United.

You can read all about that in the gossip.

  11. The Hollywood star watching Pompey

Why was a Hollywood star watching League One football on Saturday?

Which debutants made instant impacts for their new clubs? And who are the only two Championship teams with 100% records after two matches?

You can read about that and more in our round-up of Saturday's action in the English Football League here.

  12. 'Stay greedy'

    Liverpool 4-1 Norwich

    Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp says he wants his Liverpool team to "stay greedy" as they look to build on last season's Champions League triumph.

Liverpool were pipped to the Premier League title by Manchester City won their sixth European Cup against Tottenham in June, when Madrid was painted red for a a few days.

And Klopp, whose side started with a 4-1 win over Norwich, now wants to go one better.

"After the (Champions League) final we had about four weeks where everybody was (patting us on the back) and it was brilliant wherever we went," he told uefa.com.

"It's just nice, but in a different world things like this can soften you and it can take the power out of you a bit. We are not like this, but it's a fact that it could happen.

"Stay greedy. That's very important - I have no doubt about that, but it's clear that we have to do that. We only have to do the same again, and with a couple of things we maybe didn't do too well."

  13. Pickford stars for Everton

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Everton

    Jordan Pickford comes under pressure

Speaking of Everton, their England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was in fine form to ensure the 10-man Blues claimed a point in their opening game of the new season at Crystal Palace.

The England goalkeeper, who endured a mixed 2018-19 campaign, blocked efforts from Jordan Ayew and then Max Meyer as Palace put the visitors, who had Morgan Schneiderlin sent off in the 76th minute, under pressure.

You can read the report on that game here.

Though this picture pretty much sums it up.

  14. Post update

As far as new kits go... Manchester City's new away strip paying homage to legendary Manchester nightclub the Hacienda isn't bad.

Oh and the new Arsenal home shirt brings back memories!

I quite liked Everton's away shirt at Crystal Palace (but of course that's been around a while)!

Feel free to let me know what you think is the most stylish attire in the new campaign....

    Kevin De Bruyne
    Everton's Seamus Coleman
  15. Post update

Arsenal's social media accounts are busy promoting their new third kit for the 2019-20 season.

I'm not 100% convinced by it to be honest but then don't get me started on the frequency of new kits!

  17. Brighton & Burnley looking good

I know the league table doesn't usually come into play at this stage of the season but if you're a Brighton or Burnley fan it looks pretty good doesn't it?

The Seagulls opened up with a 3-0 win at Watford, while Burnley won by the same scoreline against Southampton.

  18. Post update

    Bournemouth 1-1 Sheffield United

    Sheffield United

    Billy Sharp

I'm a big fan of Sheffield United's straight-talking boss Chris Wilder and his team marked their return to the Premier League, after a 12-year absence, with a spirited 1-1 draw at Bournemouth.

Billy Sharp scored an 88th-minute equaliser to cancel out Chris Mepham's first goal for the Cherries.

To think the Blades were in League One just two years ago.

You can read more on all of that here.

  19. Chilwell to Chelsea?

    Ben Chilwell (right)

The transfer window may have slammed shut for a few months but according to The Sun Chelsea manager Frank Lampard wants to sign Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell when the Blues' transfer ban ends. The England international, 22, is rated at £70m.

    That's all in the gossip.
