For now, we will sign off. Thanks for your tweets and company, sleep well, get up and train like a champ...

  4. 'He was the better man'

    Martin reaction

Defeated Charles Martin speaks to Sky Sports: "He was the better man. I got hit by a right hand I didn't see and that cost the fight.

"I was OK but the referee came over at six, I got to the knee at seven, took a breath and when I stood up he was at 10.

"He's not difficult to fight. He's a great fighter, I want to say that, it was just that his right hand was fast, I didn't see the right. He's got good speed.

What would you do differently? "I'd take it right to him, don't give him any respect.

"I'm not disappointed, he was just the better man but I'll get back in there, I'm not done. Just keep on grinding."

Promoter Eddie Hearn speaking to BBC Radio 5 live: "I was so nervous when a man walked in with a crown on like a prince.

"Joshua said 'this is taking ages'. I told him 'you've just got to concentrate'. And he said 'trust me, I've got this'.

"Anthony Joshua has just destroyed him and he'll destroy every other heavyweight in the world.

"I'm so proud. We've got a man here who can change the sport."

  7. What you've missed...

    Anthony Joshua celebrates with team

If you have just joined us or have just turned the BBC Sport app on while waiting for a drink at the bar, you've missed a little bit of history.

After a fine first round, Anthony Joshua came out for the second and scored two knock downs, leaving the dethroned IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin wanting.

Martin tried to use the full 10 count but got counted out. In truth, his race was run, Joshua was slick, classy and devastating. He seems to have it all.

  8. Strike a pose

    Anthony Joshua celebrates after win

Everyone wants a photo with the champion now. He's posing for selfies galore and doing it all with a smile.

"I'm going to walk through Fury when he's ready. I mean business and I'm here to stay."

  10. From the press room...

  11. Tyson Fury's still not impressed...

Britain's undefeated WBO, WBA and IBO world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury on Twitter: "So AJ gets a belt, looked slow ponderous, & still looked like a bodybuilder, let me slay the lamb."

  12. The WBC heavyweight champion...

  13. Rapid rise AJ...

A stat for you, Anthony Joshua's ascent to world heavyweight champion is the fifth-quickest by any heavyweight.

  14. Promoter reaction...

    Eddie Hearn

Promoter Eddie Hearn, speaking to Sky Sports Box Office: "This is only the beginning for Anthony. He wants to win all of the world titles. Britain should be very proud of him. He's a role model who can transcend the sport and young people can look up to him. He'll go on to become a great of the sport. He's so humble - he's acting like he's just won a four-rounder."

  15. Clear the belt/sock/pants drawer...

    Team Joshua celebrate

  19. Anthony Joshua reaction

    Anthony Joshua

More from Anthony Joshua, speaking to Sky Sports Box Office: "There'll probably be some negativity about how easy it is. But two days ago Charles Martin was a big, dangerous southpaw and he had the confidence to come over here and fight in the lion's den. All the hype is good for boxing, let's keep on pushing this sport. Keep on supporting us because it won't last forever."

  20. Anthony Joshua is world champion

Anthony Joshua, speaking to Sky Sports Box Office: "It's only quarter of the way there. There's still a lot of work to be done. I've done two rounds, so I'll go to the changing rooms and work on the pads. I've got people like David Haye and Tyson Fury calling me out so I need to keep improving. Every fight gets better and better. I want to give value for money and I appreciate the ongoing support of the fans."
