So there we have it - the opening round of the 2016 County Championship season is over.

Despite rain ruining some of the matches, there's still been plenty for us cricket lovers to get our teeth into.

We'll be back on Sunday from 10:45 BST with live text updates and ball-by-ball radio commentary as another six matches get under way.

Plenty of eyes will be on County Champions Yorkshire, who get their title defence started against Hampshire at Headingley.

HAMPSHIRE V WARWICKSHIRE - MATCH DRAWN

The captains shake hands after Liam Dawson reaches his half-century as Hampshire hold on for a draw.

It was a fine effort from Dawson and Adam Wheater who shared an unbroken stand of 73 to see out the majority of the evening session.

And that my friends, is the first round of the County Championship season finished.

Batty rues poor start

Surrey skipper Gareth Batty told BBC Radio London:

"We made it very difficult for ourselves in the first four or five sessions of the game.

"Notts are a good, proven team and we gave ourselves too big a hill to climb, but today was a pretty good effort to turn it around.

"The three big fellas today were exceptional and showed what a potent attack we could be if we are patient enough and do it from the first ball of the game."

Two centuries for Jennings

The Durham opener made 116 and 105 not out in the drawn game against Somerset.

Rikki Clarke is still giving it his all for Warwickshire, but there's only going to be one result now - a draw.

Seven overs left, Hampshire's lead is 19 and Liam Dawson and Adam Wheater are both entrenched.

Things drawing to a close

Here's another sky/cricket ground picture. As you can probably tell, it's all gone a bit quiet at the Ageas Bowl.

'Cracking season opener'

BBC Sport's Elizabeth Ammon at Trent Bridge:

"What an absolutely cracking season opener we have had here at Trent Bridge. Nottinghamshire got over the line to win by three wickets but not before a little wobble. 

"Surrey battled hard but the damage was done on the first two days. It's been an enthralling game with high quality skilful cricket but a deserved win by Notts."

It was certainly a lot closer that it looked when Notts were 72-0 chasing 169 for victory, but Nottinghamshire have done it.

Draw edging closer

Meanwhile at the Ageas Bowl, Hampshire are holding firm led by Liam Dawson's 25 off 74 balls.
