  1. Bye for now

That's it from us for now - you can read Stephan Shemilt's match report and watch the highlights on the BBC Sport website.

After a rare chance to grab a quick bite to eat (thanks to the fact that women's cricket matches generally proceed at a quicker over-rate than men's), we'll be back at about 13:45 GMT for in-play highlights and live text on Sri Lanka v Afghanistan in the men's competition. See you then.

  2. How the table looks...

A quick look at the Group B table shows three teams having won their opening game. India are top of the pile on net run rate, followed by England and then West Indies - Pakistan have one defeat, and Bangladesh two defeats.

England's next game - against India in Dharamsala on Tuesday - looks very important.

  4. Captain's view

Bangladesh skipper Jahanara Alam: "Congratulations to England, 117 was a good score for us and it was good preparation for our next match. Hopefully our tournament will be good. I wasn't in form with my bowling so I wasn't properly happy, but I got two wickets at the end."

  5. Captain's view

England captain Charlotte Edwards: "Bangladesh played really well towards the end, and we've got a big game next against India. The new coaches have challenged us to express ourselves, there's still a lot to come from us as a team."

Jeremy Fretter: Didn't get Charlotte Edwards' field sets. All batters were slogging to leg, but she had a traditional field set, giving easy runs to leg.

    Ebony Rainford-Brent

Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

"I'd like to have seen more from the middle order, where there was a little bit of a flutter of wickets. That will be punished by Australia or India. We talked about the reliance on Edwards and Taylor, and I'd like to see a big score coming from Heather Knight as this tournament flows, because that is the next generation."

  9. Final scorecard

Bangladesh 117-6 (20 overs) - England win by 36 runs

    Not out: Salma 32*

    FoW: 0-1 (Sharmin 0), 14-2 (Rahman 2), 38-3 (Fargana 19), 46-4 (Rumana 19), 110-5 (Sultana 35), 117-6 (Jahanara 2)

    Bowling: Brunt 4-1-17-1, Shrubsole 4-0-27-2, Sciver 3-0-22-0, Gunn 3-0-15-1, Hazell 4-0-20-1, Knight 2-0-9-0.

    England 153-7 (20 overs) - Edwards 60, Sciver 27, Jahanara 3-32.

  11. Player of the match

England skipper Charlotte Edwards: "It's always nice to start with runs, but the win was the most important thing. It was a good total, there's a bit of work we can do on our bowling and fielding but we're pretty pleased. I love my fielding, and I think I'll be talking the girls through that run-out for a few days!"

  12. Post update

    Ebony Rainford-Brent

Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

"A solid first game for England, they will be pleased. This gives them that momentum, the next game (against India) really is a big one. Sarah Taylor is maybe the only one who didn't quite catch today but you sense she'll come good as she's been on such good form."

  13. WICKET

    Jahanara c Greenway b Gunn 2 (Ban 117-6)

Gunn's persistence is rewarded as skipper Jahanara is pouched by the safe hands of Lydia Greenway off the last ball of the innings.

So England win by 36 runs - stay with us for the reaction and more highlights.

  14. Post update

    Ebony Rainford-Brent

Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

"The last time Bangladesh played England they were all out for 58. Compared to that this is a massive improvement. They've now scored their biggest ever total against one of the best nations in the world. Well done."

  15. Bangladesh pass highest T20 total

    Ban 117-5

Jenny Gunn gets the last over, foxing Salma with a slower ball as she misses an attempted Jos Buttler-style ramp shot and the ball goes for two byes. Bangladesh help themselves to three singles, so they've passed their highest T20 international total - a landmark that looked unlikely after the first over.

  16. Post update

    Ebony Rainford-Brent

Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

"42 off six. Unlikely... But you never know..."

  17. Ban 112-5 (Shrubsole 4-0-27-2)

Captain Jahanara Alam out for a little batting cameo. A single leaves the Tigers needing snookers - 42 needed from six balls - to win.

  18. Post update

    Ebony Rainford-Brent

Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

"Taylor's quick hands really have that extra impact for England. It's literally a fraction over the line. Shrubshole will be very happy about that after being hit for six the ball before."

  19. WICKET

Sultana st Taylor b Shrubsole 35 (Ban 110-5)

That's out - Sultana's back foot was not grounded behind the line, and an entertaining innings by the Bangladesh keeper - 35 from 28 balls - is ended. But credit to Taylor for a smart stumping, standing up to a quick bowler.

  20. Third umpire

    Ban 110-4

Sultana overbalances slog-sweeping, and there's an appeal for a stumping...
