Batting plaudits go to Essex's Nick Browne and Joe Denly of Kent for career-best double centuries, Durham's Scott Borthwick for hitting two hundreds in the same game, and Samit Patel, who enlivened the final day with a breathtaking 124 off 82 balls for Notts.
Middlesex spinner Ollie Rayner produced the best bowling figures of 6-79, but there were also five-fors by Tom Bailey (Lancashire), Barry McCarthy (Durham) and Ravi Bopara (Essex).

Hughes, who returned to the crease after retiring ill during day three, has now scored 569 runs in five games at an average of 113.80.

Like a scene in a western movie, Samit Patel goes down with all guns blazing at Trent Bridge as Warwickshire earn their first win of the season to go top of Division One. Patel is last man out, caught off Chris Wright (3-23), after hitting eight sixes and 12 fours in his 124 off 82 balls.
Apart from Patel, Brendan Taylor (26) was the only other batsman to reach double figures in the Notts innings, which began disastrously as they slumped to 25-5.
Worcestershire have to settle for a draw after striving might and main to force a final-day victory after asking Sussex to follow-on at New Road. Ollie Robinson (29*) and Stu Whittingham play out the final six overs before the teams shake hands - 13 points for Worcestershire, nine for Sussex.

Having trailed on first innings, this has been a fine effort by Gloucestershire, who are one wicket away from victory as injured Graham Wagg's gallant innings comes to an end when he becomes off-spinner Jack Taylor's third victim.
Glamorgan need 126 to win - they have enough time to do it, but with last man Michael Hogan now at the crease it would be quite some feat if they manage it.
