  3. Signing off

That's the end of the sixth round of the County Championship, with Durham, Warwickshire and Gloucestershire the only winners, as five games end in draws.

Batting plaudits go to Essex's Nick Browne and Joe Denly of Kent for career-best double centuries, Durham's Scott Borthwick for hitting two hundreds in the same game, and Samit Patel, who enlivened the final day with a breathtaking 124 off 82 balls for Notts.

Middlesex spinner Ollie Rayner produced the best bowling figures of 6-79, but there were also five-fors by Tom Bailey (Lancashire), Barry McCarthy (Durham) and Ravi Bopara (Essex).

There is lots more cricket to enjoy this week via the BBC Sport website and Sport app.

We will have full coverage of the first Test between England and Sri Lanka at Headingley, which starts at 11:00 BST on Thursday, and the opening games in this summer's T20 Blast on Friday evening.

  4. Who's on top

Warwickshire are the new leaders of Division One following their victory over Notts at Trent Bridge, but only by one point from last summer's champions Yorkshire. Lancashire are five points behind the Bears despite losing at Durham, who move up to fourth - and both have a game in hand on the leaders.

Essex continue to set the pace in Division Two, with two wins and three draws so far, and they are 18 points clear of Kent, who climb above Leicestershire into second following their draw at Northampton. Defeat by Gloucestershire at Bristol leaves Glamorgan on the bottom of the table.

  7. Post update

Interesting stat arising out of Samit Patel's brilliant knock for Notts today (in a losing cause)...

  8. County Championship - coming up

The next round of Championship matches start on Sunday.

In Division One, it will be Hampshire v Notts, Lancashire v Surrey, Middlesex v Somerset and Warwickshire v Durham.

Division Two leaders Essex travel to Glamorgan, while Derbyshire host Kent, Gloucestershire take on Northants and Leicestershire play Worcestershire.

  9. Yorkshire defy Somerset attack

    Somerset 562-7 dec v Yorkshire 311 & 121-6

It looks like defending champions Yorkshire will be leaving Taunton with a draw. Somerset have just six overs left to pick up the four wickets they need. Jack Leaning is 22 not out, Liam Plunkett has seven.

  10. ESSEX DRAW WITH DERBYSHIRE

    Essex 538-7 dec v Derbyshire 280 & 261-4

    Hamish Rutherford

Hamish Rutherford (68) and Chesney Hughes (66 not out) help themselves to centuries as rain robe the final day of any excitement at Chelmsford. Just 24 overs are bowled before a halt is called, with Division Two leaders Essex taking 11 points and Derbyshire eight.

Hughes, who returned to the crease after retiring ill during day three, has now scored 569 runs in five games at an average of 113.80.

    Match scorecard

  11. WICKET Rashid (c Allenby b Groenewald 0)

    Somerset 562-7 dec v Yorkshire 99-6

Adil Rashid prods forward is caught in the slips after facing 30 balls without scoring. Yorkshire, 152 behind, have 10.4 overs to survive.

  12. WARWICKSHIRE BEAT NOTTS BY 53 RUNS

    Warwickshire 373 & 236 v Nottinghamshire 383 & 173

Like a scene in a western movie, Samit Patel goes down with all guns blazing at Trent Bridge as Warwickshire earn their first win of the season to go top of Division One. Patel is last man out, caught off Chris Wright (3-23), after hitting eight sixes and 12 fours in his 124 off 82 balls.

Apart from Patel, Brendan Taylor (26) was the only other batsman to reach double figures in the Notts innings, which began disastrously as they slumped to 25-5.

    Match scorecard

  13. WORCESTERSHIRE DRAW WITH SUSSEX

    Worcestershire 491 v Sussex 278 & 411-9

Worcestershire have to settle for a draw after striving might and main to force a final-day victory after asking Sussex to follow-on at New Road. Ollie Robinson (29*) and Stu Whittingham play out the final six overs before the teams shake hands - 13 points for Worcestershire, nine for Sussex.

    Match scorecard

  14. Patel rampage continues

    Warwickshire 373 & 236 v Nottinghamshire 383 & 166-9

    Samit Patel

This is simply astonishing batting by Samit Patel - Chris Gayle couldn't be any more destructive. Three more sixes come off Jeetan Patel's latest over as Samit moves on to 124 not out, and pinches the strike off the final delivery. Another 54 needed by Notts.

  15. SAMIT PATEL REACHES CENTURY

    Warwickshire 373 & 236 v Nottinghamshire 383 & 154-9

Samit Patel completes a superb 68-ball hundred with a six - the fifth of his innings - but Jackson Bird departs in the next over, bowled by Chris Wright. Notts still need 73 to win as Harry Gurney joins Patel.

  16. GLOS BEAT GLAMORGAN BY 125 RUNS

    Gloucestershire 262 & 336 v Glamorgan 330 & 143

    BBC Wales' Nick Webb:

"Gloucestershire claim their first win of the season after a remarkable Glamorgan collapse, losing eight wickets for 33 just before tea.

"Graeme van Buuren, Craig Miles and Jack Taylor ran through the visitors' batsmen after an opening stand of 87.

"Despite some belated resistance from David Lloyd and Graham Wagg and a weather hold-up, Gloucestershire took the final wicket of Lloyd (20) with more than an hour to spare as Taylor finished with 4-16."

    Match scorecard

  17. WICKET Wagg (b Taylor 15)

    Gloucestershire 262 & 336 v Glamorgan 330 & 142-9

Having trailed on first innings, this has been a fine effort by Gloucestershire, who are one wicket away from victory as injured Graham Wagg's gallant innings comes to an end when he becomes off-spinner Jack Taylor's third victim.

Glamorgan need 126 to win - they have enough time to do it, but with last man Michael Hogan now at the crease it would be quite some feat if they manage it.

  18. WICKET Ballance (c Leach b J Overton 18)

    Somerset 562-7 dec v Yorkshire 311 & 89-5

This has been a fairly undistinguished rearguard action by Yorkshire, for whom Gary Ballance is the latest man to go. Jack Leaning and Adil Rashid are now together with 17 overs still possible.

  19. Patel races towards century

    Warwickshire 373 & 236 v Nottinghamshire 383 & 144-8

This is some innings by Samit Patel, who smashes namesake Jeetan for three sixes in one over. He has 95 from just 58 balls and has provided some rich entertainment following the weather hold-up earlier in the day. Notts still need another 83 for victory.
