  1. That's all folks...

This England side go from strength to strength. It wasn't that long ago this side was an embarrassment. Now they look like world-beaters.

It is, of course, a team game. But I don't think the rest of the England lads will mind if we give a special doff of the cap to this fella...

    Jason Roy

    Night everyone.

  2. 'I'm stoked'

More from Jason Roy, who made 162 off 118 balls: "I'm really stoked. It's just a shame I wasn't there at the end; I was pretty disappointed.

"Credit to the way Sri Lanka batted but it was our night. I might not be out of breath but my legs are feeling it."

Rowland Marsh: Now there is a Roy we can be proud of!

  4. 'We are growing as we play'

England captain Eoin Morgan: "Jason Roy is making the most of his form. That is a big thing in international cricket. You cash in and he is certainly doing that. It is nice for him to be second in the list. He has played a magnificent innings.

"There wasn't much margin for error on a superb wicket. We didn't help ourselves by hitting our lengths early on. But in patches we showed what we did in Bristol and Trent Bridge. It is a difficult ground to stop guys scoring. We will look and see what we can improve. Our fielding was better.

"It is impressive. We are growing as we play. Hopefully we can keep putting in performances like that."

  5. Roy the 'legend'

  6. Post update

Did Jason Roy know about Robin Smith's record ODI score of 167 for England?

"I was aware when I walked in the changing room and saw it on the TV - but I didn't care because we needed 20 runs to win."

  7. 'I'll never forget that'

Jason Roy, who made 162 off 118 balls, on TMS: "I'm just so happy with the win. To contribute in a big way like that is extremely special. I'll never forget that.

"A lot of hard work has been put in. We reap the rewards - very exciting times for English cricket. It's job done by winning the series but we want to hammer it home on Saturday and take that momentum in the Pakistan series."

  8. 'It's time to make changes'

Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews: "I thought we had a good score on the board. Our bowlers were pretty ordinary and Jason took the game away for us. The bowling didn't work.

"It was a brilliant innings, he took us on, taking calculated risks.

"We were not penetrative enough to get the batsmen out. It was a brilliant wicket, but we could not put the effort in to make breakthroughs. It's time to make a couple of changes."

    BBC Test Match Special

"It's been the Jason Roy Show today."

  11. Post update

In case you are just clocking this (where have you been?!), England have chased down 308 in a touch over 40 overs to beat Sri Lanka by six wickets and take an unassailable 2-0 series lead.

Oh, and in that Jason Roy scored 162 and Danushka Gunathilaka took one of the great catches.

Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow at close of play
  13. Post update

    Ebony Rainford-Brent

Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

"I can't help but think back to a year ago when England crashed out of the World Cup..."

  14. Second-highest England chase

England win by six wickets (DLS) to complete their second-highest run chase in ODI cricket. They managed that in just 40.1 overs as well. Stunning.

  15. Eng 309-4

Buttler smashes Prasanna over mid-on for a match-winning four.

Game over and series won. What a display from England.

  16. Eng 305-4 (Three runs to win)

Bairstow flicks Pradeep off his legs for four and then drives inside mid-on to the rope to take England past 300 and into single figures required. Game in the bag.

  17. How's stat?!

    Andy Zaltzman

Comedian & BBC Test Match Special statistician

"Roy's innings is the second fastest 150 in an ODI in England, second only to Sanath Jayasuriya's 152 off 99 balls for Sri Lanka at Headingley in 2006."

    Jason Roy
  18. Eng 292-4 (Target 308)

That'll teach him to try any funny business. Buttler plays a perfect ramp shot to claim a boundary and get off the mark. He then absolutely smashes one over point to the rope. The message is clear - lets get this done and dusted.

Maharoof doesn't help himself by pulling out of his bowling stride again before Buttler slices a yard short of giving short third man a catch.

    Eventful.

  19. Eng 284-4

This is a bit cheeky from Maharoof. He stops in his delivery stride and appears to be eyeing up a potential Mankading to Buttler. Not sure why as Buttler was still in his ground.
