  1. Northants rise to the top once again

    Northants win 2016 T20 Blast

So, another summer of T20 Blast cricket comes to an end, but it finishes with a familiar story.

Northants Steelbacks have seen off Nottinghamshire and Durham to claim their second Twenty20 title.

But I'm afraid that's all I've got time for. My it's been a long day, albeit a thoroughly entertaining one.

The next BBC live text and radio commentary is on Tuesday as eight matches in the County Championship begin.

Until then, goodbye and enjoy the rest of your Saturday evening.

  2. Man of the match

    Northants win 2016 T20 Blast

Unsurprisingly, Josh Cobb is named man of the match for his innings of 80 of 48 balls.

It's his second man-of-the match award at Finals Day - his first coming as a Leicestershire player in 2011 for his four wickets in the final.

  3. NORTHANTS WIN 2016 T20 BLAST

Northants (155-6, 19.1 overs) beat Durham (153-8) by four wickets

Durham captain Paul Collingwood told BBC Test Match Special:

"We struck the ball really well. It's disappointing to get all the way to the final and not be able to get over the line but the energy that we put into the semi-final against Yorkshire, you cannot fault the lads.

"From the position that we were in in the league to get to the actual final, I take my hat off to the boys. It's been a great effort but wasn't good enough in the end.

"Northants deserve the victory. We didn't have a huge score on the board, you still need everything to go well.

"You need things to go your way but unfortunately today it didn't. To have a fantastic victory against Yorkshire, I'm delighted with the boys' attitude.

"I'm delighted for Keaton, hes come in at the top of the order after Phil Mustard went to Gloucestershire and a lot of things have gone against us but we got to the final."

  4. Bucketing it down

    Northants win 2016 T20 Blast

The heaviest rain of the day now arrives as the players prepare for the presentation, but frankly who cares?! Somehow we've avoided most of the big showers and have completed all three games.

I didn't think I'd be saying that 12 hours ago.

  5. NORTHANTS WIN 2016 T20 BLAST

Northants (155-6, 19.1 overs) beat Durham (153-8) by four wickets

Northants' Steven Crook told BBC Test Match Special:

"I am absolutely buzzing. The lads have done well all the way through and to come here and perform the way we have is just credit to all the players and coaching staff.

"We are over the moon it's been absolutely amazing and we're blown away. We absolutely thought we could win. We love the occasion and we make a habit of coming back. Hopefully that is set to continue over the next few years.

"We will try and enjoy ourselves today and it's been brilliant. We love playing cricket in front of big crowds. The support we have got at home is phenomenal. I am pleased for everyone who made the trip here.

"The T20 Blast producing lot of good cricket and the crowds are up this is a sell out. It's a fantastic competition and we love being part of it."

  6. NORTHANTS WIN 2016 T20 BLAST

Northants (155-6, 19.1 overs) beat Durham (153-8) by four wickets

Northants batsman Josh Cobb told BBC Test Match Special:

"It's an unbelievable feeling. We lost last year and people wanted to put it right. [In reference to being named man of the match] As long as the team won, that was the main thing. The wins that contributed along way made it even sweeter

"We like the underdog tag. We are a serious white ball cricket side and even when we have a lot of injuries against us, someone puts their hand up and I thought Ben Sanderson who hasn't played much, bowled superbly.

"In a way I was batting calm and I would have been a lot more nervous if I was in the stand."

  7. NORTHANTS WIN 2016 T20 BLAST TITLE

Northants (155-6, 19.1 overs) beat Durham (153-8) by four wickets

It got a bit nervy in the final stages, but the result was never seriously in doubt thanks to Northants batsman Josh Cobb.

The 26-year-old smashed a brilliant 80 off 48 balls with 10 fours and three sixes, one of which sailed over the Eric Hollies stand.

Durham's Keaton Jennings also played his part with 88, the highest ever score at a Finals Day, but ultimately it was in vain as Northants cruised home.

  8. NORTHANTS WIN 2016 T20 BLAST TITLE

Northants (155-6, 19.1 overs) beat Durham (153-8) by four wickets

The Steelbacks players rush onto the pitch, hugs all round, smiles spread across their faces.

They were the big underdogs coming into Finals Day but they proved everyone wrong. Again.

That's two titles in four years and three finals. We love an underdog!

  9. BreakingNORTHANTS ARE THE 2016 T20 BLAST CHAMPIONS

Northants beat Durham by four wickets

That's it! Northants Steelbacks have won! Rob Keogh smears Usman Arshad through mid-wicket for four and it's over. Thrilling drama, fantastic day for everyone who turned out.

  10. Northants need three runs for the T20 title

    Durham 153-8 v Northants 151-6 (19 overs)

This is some serious drama at Edgbaston.

Usman Arshad will bowl the final over to Rob Keogh. Three needed.

Who loves a late twist? Not the dozens of journalists surrounding me who have already written their reports!

  11. WICKET Crook (run out 0)

    Durham 153-8 v Northants 149-6 (18.3 overs)

What on earth are Northants doing here?! Steven Crook runs halfway down the pitch, turns back and dives to make his ground but the bat bounces up and he's out.

Ben Stokes with the throw. Surely they can't throw this away?

  12. Six required off two overs

    Durham 153-8 v Northants 148-5 (18 overs)

It's an excellent over from Chris Rushworth, just two from it, but it's probably not enough for Durham.

    Miracles do happen though.

  13. WICKET Cobb (c Richardson b Rushworth 80)

    Durham 153-8 v Northants 148-5 (17.4 overs)

He deserved to be there until the end, but he's not going to be.

Josh Cobb, having made a superb 80, swishes hard at Chris Rushworth but can only nick him behind.

He's done all the hard work, but will be upset he couldn't see it through. It'll all be forgotten about in a few minutes though when the Steelbacks lift the trophy.

  14. Eight needed off 18 balls

    Durham 153-8 v Northants 146-4 (17 overs)

Start etching Northants Steelbacks on the trophy, this is as good as over.

Rob Keogh clips Usman Arshad to the boundary and that's all they need to do. A few singles and a two to complete the over.

    Simple task from here.

  15. Northants need 18 off 24 balls

    Durham 153-8 v Northants 136-4 (16 overs)

Well, James Taylor said Mark Wood needed to do something special.

The Durham paceman bowls a really decent over, conceding just six, but the Jets need wickets now.

    Northants are strolling this.

  16. Post update

    Durham 153-8 v Northants 131-4 (15 overs)

    James Taylor

Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

"For me Mark Wood has been the bowler of the day, if not the player of the day.

"He's outstanding and Durham need something special from him now, that's for sure."

  17. WICKET Wakely (run out 43)

    Durham 153-8 v Northants 129-4 (14.5 overs)

Next ball Alex Wakely goes! There's hesitation and before he can get back in his crease, bowler Usman Arshad swoops and runs him out with a direct hit.

Oh my goodness, the rain's back too - and it's pretty heavy. Northants still way ahead of the D/L par score though.

  18. Umpire review

    Durham 153-8 v Northants 129-3 (14.4 overs)

Alex Wakely smacks Usman Arshad for six and then hits him to substitute fielder Paul Coughlin who clings on inches from the turf. Or does he?

It goes to a TV replay and it looks like the ball bounced. Not out.

  19. Required run-rate down to 5.5

    Durham 153-8 v Northants 121-3 (14 overs)

    Josh Cobb

Josh Cobb gets extremely lucky here. But it's another boundary.

He swings hard at Keaton Jennings but the ball flies off an edge and loops just past Usman Arshad and down to the third-man boundary.

Everything is going Northants' way at the moment. Cobb is 71 off 38 and WASP is at 96%.

  20. Post update

    Durham 153-8 v Northants 121-3 (14 overs)

    James Taylor

Ex-England batsman on BBC Test Match Special

"No wonder that ball is getting soft, Josh Cobb absolutely belting it. He's bought his golf club out and he's swinging from his hip!

"Their execution has been brilliant today. Ben Sanderson came on for his first game for a while in the tournament and Northants have been outstanding.

"I want to see Alex Wakely see them home."
