  1. Post update

Right, we're out of here. Thanks for joining us through this marathon. We're off to watch the World Cup. See you on Tuesday.

  2. Post update

England stand-in captain Jos Buttler: "It was a good performance. There are areas we can improve on but it was fantastic to put 340 on the board and we knew we could restrict them. I felt in good touch today - you have to make the most of it when you feel good. I think we need to improve a little in the field. If we are being brutal we can be more polished in the field."

When asked if Eoin Morgan will be fit for the next game, Buttler said: "We hope so."

  3. Post update

Right, I think we've just got time to hear from the England skipper before we clock off...

  4. Post update

England batsman Jason Roy: "Australia were striking it well at the end but we picked up the key wicket of Agar and then Marsh. We thought we had enough runs at the interval but they snuck up on us. Our spinners have done very well for us again today. There's stuff still to work on, but confidence is high now we're 2-0 up.

"I was pleased with my hundred. It's nice to come back after a long winter and continue winning on home soil. I'm just very happy for the win."

Sam Billings looks vulnerable. If Eoin Morgan pulls up with a back spasm, England need somebody able to slip in and score runs. They're fortunate they have lots of options when it comes to attacking middle order batsmen. Somebody like Liam Livingstone will come into the frame.

    Phil Tufnell

Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

England are progressing nicely and if you slip Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes into this side, they look even stronger.

Stokes would have bowled well on this today. I do, however, think there's room for a specialist seam bowler like Liam Plunkett. We're stronger in the spin department than Australia though.

  7. Post update

And what an awful sporting day for Australia. Defeats in rugby, football and cricket. They will be crying into their schooners in Sydney. Or not, because it's the wee hours of the morning.

  8. Post update

Can you remember Jason Roy's century? Me neither. Luckily, we have the best bits right here...

The next game, by the way, is on Tuesday at Trent Bridge. You'd expect that England will wrap p the series there and then.

  10. Post update

That match last more than eight and a half hours. I've aged horribly in that time.

    BBC Test Match Special

Well played, Jason Roy. Because Jonny Bairstow got England off to a flier, he was able to play a forceful and mature innings without being reckless. He showed good clarity of mind.

  12. Post update

    Phil Tufnell

Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

Australia made a good fist of it but you always felt England had their noses in front with the likes of Adil Rashid and Liam Plunkett able to bowl at the end.

  13. England win by 38 runs

    J Richardson c Billings b Plunkett 2 (Aus 304 all out)

That will do! Jhye Richardson hits Liam Plunkett to Sam Billings at long-on and England go 2-0 up this series.

Less than a week ago, England were losing to Scotland. Now, the oldest enemy are set to be vanquished.

VB: I'm pretty sure when this match started it was Richie Benaud and John Arlott on comms.

  15. Aus 304-9

    Need 39 from 18 balls

Kane Richardson joins Jhye Richardson. The new men who opened the bowling this morning are together with the bat at the end. Three overs to go.

  16. Post update

    Phil Tufnell

Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

Jos Buttler has held Adil Rashid back for this reason. We've been saying how he's only bowled four overs - but Buttler was clearly saving him for the tail. Good captaincy.

  17. WICKET

    Tye c Billings b Rashid 10 (Aus 303-9)

Get your order in at the bar. We'll be there soon. Andrew Tye picks out long-on, leaving Australia nine down and giving Adil Rashid his 100th ODI wicket. England won't lose this from here.

  18. Aus 301-8

Andrew Tye is swinging for the fences. Bowler Adil Rashid isn't amused when deep square leg Mark Wood loses it in the sun. Amazingly, he had sunglasses on his head, instead of his face.

  19. Aus 295-8

    Req rate 12.00

Andrew Tye and Jhye Richardson are the men in the middle. No time to settle, Tye takes a single to mid-off and would have been miles out had Joe Root's throw hit.
