    Sir Curtly Ambrose

Former West Indies bowler on BBC Test Match Special

Chris Gayle has never been a mobile cricketer, even when he was young. But he's never been there to run the singles. He's there to take the attack apart. But apart from fielding at first slip, where can you put him?

  2. Post update

Player of the match, West Indies fast bowler Oshane Thomas: "That was a great start for me. A great day.

"Andre Russell led the way with aggressive bowling and I just stepped in and did the same. So the gameplan worked.

"I'm happy to just run in and bowl and win games for the West Indies.

"I'll keep working and doing my thing."

  3. Post update

West Indies top the embryonic league table on run rate, England in second.

    Sir Curtly Ambrose

Former West Indies bowler on BBC Test Match Special

If West Indies win the toss, they should always bowl first.

  5. Post update

    Ebony Rainford-Brent

    Former England batter on TMS

West Indies' short balls seemed to rear off a length. They were really awkward to play. The bowling stood out as something that could really add to an all-round performance.

  6. Post update

Windies bowler Oshane Thomas is handed the player of the match gong - he took 4-27 in the Pakistan innings.

    Sir Curtly Ambrose

Former West Indies bowler on BBC Test Match Special

A lot of people tend to underestimate Andre Russell's pace - but he's quick. West Indies have got a few players who can bowl at 90mph.

Ilyas Najib: As pathetic as that was from Pakistan, nothing but credit goes to West Indies. It was a magnificent bowling display from them. They have thumped Pakistan to start their campaign with a bang.

    Sir Curtly Ambrose

Former West Indies bowler on BBC Test Match Special

Most bowlers today think they can't afford to be aggressive in one-day cricket. But cricket is cricket and bouncers are part of that. I believe West Indies' plan this morning worked to perfection, and the Pakistan batsmen had no answer.

  10. Post update

West Indies were mightily impressive. Pakistan have now lost 11 ODIs in a row and this was a punishing afternoon at Trent Bridge.

All over before 2pm is not a good look...

  11. BreakingWI win

West Indies needed 82 balls to chase down the modest target of 106.

They end up on 108-3 thanks to that final six.

It'll end with a six - and a mighty one, too! You can't even call that a victory. It's an absolute thrashing.

  13. Post update

    West Indies win!

That's how to end it - Nicholas Pooran smashes a six over the top and West Indies win by seven wickets.

    An absolute hammering.

These young guys are fearless, have nothing to worry about, and they go for their shots. There's nothing wrong with that, they just have to be a little more selective.

  16. WI 102-3

    Target 106

Nicholas Pooran has played some lovely shots, that wasn't one. A hard slice over the top of the keeper's head for four.

We're one shot away from the end.

  17. Post update

For the 76th time in his ODI career, Chris Gayle has scored 50+ runs - only Brian Lara has done so more often for the West Indies (81).

There was always going to be some sort of excitement here today, but the way Pakistan were bundled out...

  19. WI 97-3

Wahab Riaz continues and serves up a wide. Not now, mate.
