Virat Kohli on Bumrah: "It is simple. We want to use him smartly when conditions allow us. He is a bowler who can do damage at any stage.

  13. 'We had belief' says Kohli

India captain Virat Kohli: "[The win is] right up there. We have been playing really good cricket and when you win toss you expect to get runs on the board. Then you see the pitch is slowing down, so we thought 250 was par and 270 would have been an outstanding effort. A team like Afghanistan doesn’t let you play how you want to play.

“At the halfway mark we had some doubts in our mind but everyone had belief in the changing room."

  16. India win by 11 runs

Afghanistan captain Gulbadin Naib: "We bowled really well. We did well in batting, credit to Bumrah for how he bowled in the last two or three overs.

"The total was not that much but in the middle you need 80s or 100s. 30 or 25s are not enough. If you chase 250 then middle order batsmen should go longer and take responsibility."

BBC Afghanistan correspondent Emal Pasarly: "I am emotional but it was a great game. All of the Afghanistan fans wanted the team to fight and they did fight today. That is the main thing.

"Afghanistan will get a lot out of this game. If they can take this to the Bangladesh game it will be even closer."

You can see what it has meant to the Indian players. They were odds on favouites by a country mile. Going into the last over we didn't know who was going to win, India didn't know who was going to win.

As the last wicket fell all of their players came together.

    What a game of cricket.

It is great to see the Indian crowd not only give their team a standing ovation but the Afghanistan team as well.
