    That's it.

    We've had official confirmation.

This match has been abandoned without a ball being bowled with the rain still falling.

England win the series 1-0. Next up? The Ashes...

  2. Post update

    The players are shaking hands.

    This looks terminal.

  3. Post update

The cold conditions aren't helping the grass dry any time soon and we're looking at another inspection at 20:30 BST.

  4. Post update

The rain has drifted away and so the umpires are having another look at the conditions but it's still pretty damp under foot.

It's quite gloomy but there's a bit more hope of play being able to get under way than there was earlier.

We'll let you know as soon as we hear anything.

  5. Post update

Not good news - there's a bit more rain and the covers are coming back on.

It's light rain but if there is play later, it will be a reduced-overs match.

Disappointing for all concerned, especially for England who wanted to make a big statement before they start the Ashes series against Australia next Tuesday.

Test Match Special's team are debating the series on Radio 5 Live Sports Extra - click the live icon at the top of the page to listen in.

  6. Post update

The start has been delayed by heavy rain in Derby but the good news is the covers have been removed and the mop-up operation has started.

There will be a further Inspection at 19:10 BST.

But after the amount of rain there's been how long will it take to dry out the pitch?

More weather news as soon as we get it.
