Live Reporting

By Ben Pheazey and Gary Smee

All times stated are UK

  1. Post update

And as we're well into overtime, that's where we'll leave it today.

I'll be back with Ben Pheazey tomorrow.

    Until then, goodbye.

  2. Close of play at Canterbury

    Kent 139 & 24-2 v Somerset 169

Harry Podmore does indeed see out Jamie Overton's final over of the day and that's stumps.

It's been extraordinary. 22 wickets have fallen, the pace bowlers have been rampant, but it's Somerset who just about have the upper hand.

It's day three tomorrow don't forget after Monday's washout, but it could well be over then.

  3. Post update

    Kent 139 & 24-2 v Somerset 169

Sean Dickson plays out a maiden - Lewis Gregory's third in this spell.

One over for nightwatchman Harry Podmore to see out.

  4. WICKET Denly b J Overton 1

    Kent 139 & 24-2 v Somerset 169

    What a ball!

Jamie Overton gets one to seam away from Joe Denly and he's beaten all ends up. An absolute corker from the giant paceman.

Nighwatchman Harry Podmore comes in with two overs left.

  5. Post update

    Kent 139 & 23-1 v Somerset 169

Joe Denly gets off the mark with a single from his 20th delivery.

Can Kent get into the lead tonight? They trail by seven runs with three overs to go.

  6. Rain forecast at Riverside

    Durham 253 v Northants 254-6 - lead by one

It's not looking great, I'm afraid, with the chances of rain hovering between 50 and a whopping 86% for most of the day.

Fingers crossed the forecast changes or turns out to be wrong because this has been a fascinating contest so far, as BBC Newcastle's Martin Emmerson explains...

  7. Post update

    Kent 139 & 21-1 v Somerset 169

    Too wide Jack!

Jack Brooks bowls a stinker of a half-volley and Sean Dickson puts it away through the covers.

  8. Post update

    Kent 139 & 15-1 v Somerset 169

Kent captain Joe Denly is knuckling down.

He's faced 14 balls and is yet to get off the mark. Five overs to go.

  9. Post update

    Kent 139 & 15-1 v Somerset 169

If there are runs on offer you've got to take them. Sean Dickson does just that, stroking a half-volley from Jack Brooks through the covers.

  10. Post update

    Kent 139 & 9-1 v Somerset 169

Another couple of overs ticked off for Kent.

Seven to go. Captain Joe Denly has faced eight balls and is yet to get off the mark.

  11. WICKET Crawley lbw b Gregory 3

    Kent 139 & 7-1 v Somerset 169

    Lewis Gregory

    A wicket. Of course!

It's another beautiful delivery from Lewis Gregory that nips back in to Zak Crawley and smacks him on the pad. It's plumb.

    It's just madness.

  12. Post update

    Kent 139 & 7-0 v Somerset 169

Two overs gone, no wickets. A rarity today.

  13. Close of play at Riverside

    Durham 253 v Northants 254-6 - lead by 1

And the bad light has also ended play for the day in a see-saw match that saw Durham recover from 81-7 to 253 and Northants reach 254-6 after losing 4-21 just before tea.

  14. Close of play at Guildford

    Surrey 290-8 v Yorks

Yorkshire's new ball resurgence in this game has been halted until tomorrow.

  15. Kent begin second innings

    Kent 139 & 0-0 v Somerset 169

Zak Crawley and Sean Dickson make their way to the middle for the second time today.

Kent will be desperate to see out these 12 remaining overs with no further damage. But I wouldn't bank on it.

Lewis Gregory is opening up for Somerset.

  16. Bad light stops play as Northants move ahead

    Durham 253 v Northants 254-6 - lead by 1

Carse bowls to Hutton, who plays and misses a ball that bounces straight over the stumps.

The next ball is thumped through mid off for two and the scores are level.

Ouch! The next ball thuds into the thigh pad and the batsmen run a leg bye.

That's all for now. The umpires take a light reading and they're taking the players off.

  17. Post update

    Kent 139 v Somerset 169

Kent will indeed have 12 overs to bat in the evening sunshine at Canterbury.

And no, I don't get any overtime.

  18. Vasconcelos leads Northants fightback

    Durham 253 v Northants 250-6 - trail by three

Vasco picks up a single off Chris Rushworth's 21st over to take Northants to 250.

Rushworth bowls full and straight. Hutton plays and misses.

The light is closing in at the Riverside...

  19. WICKET Leach lbw b Milnes 9

    Kent 139 v Somerset 169 all out

Wicket number 20 of the day! Crazy.

Somerset have only managed a first-innings lead of 30.

Jack Leach is the last man to go, lbw to Matt Milnes who finishes with 3-39.

Kent will have another 12 or so overs to bat tonight. They could be five down by stumps!

  20. 100 for Ricardo Vasconcelos

    Durham 253 v Northants 244-6

Carse drops short and Ricardo Vasconcelos goes for the hook.

Six! That's his fifth first class ton! 194 balls, 14 fours and a maximum.

He picked up 184 earlier this summer on a flat deck at Cardiff - but this will surely please him even more.

He's taken full advantage of his reprieve in the slips when he'd made 10 and survived a calamitous passage of play just before tea.
