That's it for tonight. Four points from his first two games in charge is not a bad start for David Moyes as he adapts to life in northern Spain.
Many thanks for all your comments and your company. We will have live text commentary from 18:30 GMT on Saturday as Real Madrid take on Malaga in La Liga. Until then.
What does this result do?
Real Sociedad are now up to 12th in the La Liga table. There will be bigger tests ahead for David Moyes and his players. After facing Villarreal away on 7 December, they then have the Basque derby against Athletic Bilbao seven days later. Barcelona visit on 4 January.

Dean Glass: This is a big result. We needed to show we can score and we have. Very delighted with this. Keep this up Moyes.
FULL-TIME
Real Sociedad 3-0 Elche
All over. Spanish flair combined with Scottish grit sees Real Sociedad home to their second win in 11 La Liga games.
Post update
Real Sociedad 3-0 Elche
Moyes continues to bark instructions from the sidelines. Can his players understand him? Who cares. Real Sociedad have the points.
Post update
Real Sociedad 3-0 Elche
Two minutes of stoppage time.
SUBSTITUTION
Real Sociedad 3-0 Elche
Hat-trick hero Carlos Vela gets a standing ovation as he makes his way off the pitch to be replaced by Chory Castro. Thoroughly deserved. Vela has been excellent. He's going to be very important to David Moyes.
Post update
Real Sociedad 3-0 Elche
Five minutes left. The crowd is awfully quiet again. It is clearly going to take a few more wins to lift Sociedad's fans after a terrible start to the season.
YELLOW CARD
Real Sociedad 3-0 Elche
If only Elche could defend as well as they foul...
This time Domingo Cisma sees yellow after flinging an arm into Carlos Martínez's face.
Ugly night for the visitors.
TEN MINUTES REMAINING
Real Sociedad 3-0 Elche
He hasn't enjoyed a win since overseeing Manchester United's 4-0 win at Newcastle on 5 April. But David Moyes is 10 minutes away from marking his first home game as manager of Real Sociedad with three points.
YELLOW CARD
Real Sociedad 3-0 Elche
Carlos Vela has been a thorn in the Elche defence all night and a cynical challenge by Victor Rordriguez sends the little Mexican sprawling midway inside the visitors' half. Yellow card for the man in green.
SUBSTITUTION
Real Sociedad 3-0 Elche
The change sees midfielder Ruben Pardo come on for Sergio Canales. Moyes already has one eye on next weekend's game at Villarreal.
Post update
Real Sociedad 3-0 Elche
This is so comfortable for the hosts. There's a little over 20 minutes remaining but the points are in the bag. Moyes is set to make a substitution. Will Carlos Vela be allowed to finish the game?
Post update
Real Sociedad 3-0 Elche
A sudden burst of noise from the stands as hat-trick hero Carlos Vela bursts forward before running into a wall of green.
Post update
Real Sociedad 3-0 Elche
Coro has just come on for Elche and with his first touch sends an effort whistling narrowly wide of the Sociedad post. Sociedad's fans have not enjoyed too many days like this yet it remains so quiet in the Anoeta Stadium. Maybe they can't believe what they're seeing.

Chelsea Warrior: Always thought David Moyes was a decent chap despite shambles during his Manchester United run. Players seem to be responding. Early days though.
Post update
Real Sociedad 3-0 Elche
Elche have been terrible. Their defence has been non-existent. This is easy pickings for Sociedad.
GOAL
Real Sociedad 3-0 Elche - Carlos Vela
Take a bow Carlos Vela. A good old-fashioned toe-poke from 12 yards after collecting Carlos Martínez's pass puts Real Sociedad out of sight. Vela has looked a livewire all night and wheels away to celebrate. David Moyes, however, shows little emotion on the touchline. Come on, David. You're winning!
Post update
Real Sociedad 2-0 Elche
Sociedad aren't hanging around as Alberto de la Bella forces a fine save from goalkeeper Przemysław Tyton. David Moyes wants this done and dusted.
Post update
Real Sociedad 2-0 Elche
Action-packed start to the new half. After Elche's Adrian Gonzalez spurns a glorious chance to reduce the deficit with a poor header, Carlos Vela forces a corner at the other end.
KICK-OFF
Real Sociedad 2-0 Elche
We're under way in the second half. One change for Elche as Garry Rodrigues replaces Faycal Fajr.
Blanc says Brandao punishment "excessive"
Paris St-Germain manager Laurent Blanc says the one-month jail term imposed on Bastia striker Brandao for headbutting PSG midfielder Thiago Motta is "disproportionate".
The Brazilian, 34, had already received a six-month ban for the incident in PSG's 2-0 home win on 16 August. Motta, 32, was left with a broken nose in the attack by Brandao, who also received a £15,850 fine.
"I find it excessive," Blanc said at a news conference.

On Black Friday, who has been the bargain buy of European football so far this season? Tweet #bbceurofooty.
PS Parameswaran: Toni Kroos for around £20m to Real Madrid. What a bargain buy for a club who inflate the transfer market.
Seamus in Warsaw: Bargain buy of the week must be Moyes, but 45 minutes and it could be back to 'Moyes Out'. That's Footbal Lunacy!
Singing in the rain
Earlier, PSV Eindhoven advanced to the knockout stage of the Europa League after drawing 3-3 at Estoril in a Group E game that was abandoned at half-time on Thursday because of heavy rain.
PSV were behind 3-2 when the match resumed, but Georginio Wijnaldum earned a point for the Dutch team by rounding the goalkeeper and slotting into the net in the 82nd minutes. The draw eliminated Estoril and guaranteed PSV second place in the group behind Dinamo Moscow. Fourteen teams have now qualified for the last 32.
Real Madrid "surprised" by Platini
Elsewhere, Real Madrid's preparations for their match at Malaga on Saturday have been overshadowed by remarks from Uefa president Michel Platini, who suggested their forward Cristiano Ronaldo should not win the Ballon d'Or.
Platini, 59, said the annual prize, which is given to the world's best player, should be awarded to one of Germany's World Cup-winning squad.
The Spanish club have expressed their "surprise" at Platini's comments. 2013 winner Ronaldo, 29, is favourite to retain the honour after helping Madrid to a 10th European title.
Leaders Real can go five points clear if they defeat Malaga as second-placed Barcelona do not play until Sunday, when they are away to Valencia.
HALF-TIME
Real Sociedad 2-0 Elche
A highly satisfactory opening 45-minute display by Real Sociedad. David Moyes' side are in control but can they add to their lead after the break?
Post update
Real Sociedad 2-0 Elche
Carlos Vela looks nothing like the nervous young forward he was at Arsenal. Sociedad's No 11 wants a first half hat-trick and lets fly from 25-yards, his attempt keeping Elche's keeper on his toes. One minute of stoppage time.

David Lever: Surely Pelle at Southampton. Six in 12 games for £8m. Cheap by Premier League standards!
Jonny Jennings: Frank Lampard to Man City on loan. What an impact he's made!
Post update
Real Sociedad 2-0 Elche
Five minutes of the first half remaining. Moyes vents his frustration as the referee awards Elche a free-kick in front of the Sociedad bench. If looks could kill the match official would be in serious trouble.

We're asking for your bargain buys...
Kieran: Samuel Eto'o to Everton for free. Experience, perfect mentor for Lukaku and Barkley... need I say anymore?
Jon Chau: Pretty easy one... Ayoze Perez to Newcastle.
Post update
Real Sociedad 2-0 Elche
Elche respond with a fierce attempt through Damian Suarez that brings out a good save. The hosts, however, are in control. The crowd like what they see but I'm still waiting for the first Moyes chant.
GOAL
Real Sociedad 2-0 Elche - Carlos Vela
Forget Wayne Rooney. Moyes has Carlos Vela. The Mexico international shows terrific composure after being put clean through to find the net with a cool, low finish. With that Vela doubles his tally for the season. He now has four goals. Moyes look happy. Very happy.
Post update
Real Sociedad 1-0 Elche
Chance for Sociedad to extend their lead as Adrian Gonzalez hauls down Gorka Elustondo on the edge of the Elche area. Up steps Esteban Granero but the former QPR man's effort is easily stopped by the keeper. Moyes flashes a look that says 'I wish I had Wayne Rooney to take that'.
Post update
Real Sociedad 1-0 Elche
Apparently Moyes spent most of his first game shouting 'Stefano!' at his team. The trouble is Real Sociedad don't have anyone called Stefano in their side. He's been pretty relaxed so far. His team lead but the atmosphere is flat. Goodison Park it isn't.
Post update
Real Sociedad 1-0 Elche
Win tonight and Real Sociedad have a little bit of breathing space above the relegation zone. They're up from 16th to 12th as things stand.

Kelan McCafferty: Daley Blind bargain for £14m considering he is just what Manchester United needed.
Post update
Real Sociedad 1-0 Elche
So far so good for Moyes but Sociedad have struggled to test the Elche defence since taking the lead. Suddenly Sergio Canales finds himself with the ball at his feet on the edge of the area but fires wide. Lots of enthusiasm from the hosts who are clearly eager to please their new boss.
YELLOW CARD
Real Sociedad 1-0 Elche
Both teams are getting stuck into one another and the referee finally loses patience as Sociedad's Sergio Canales goes into the book for sending Damian Suarez sprawling.
Post update
Real Sociedad 1-0 Elche
It's all Sociedad on what can only be described as an awful surface. The ball is bobbling all over the place. More San Marino than San Sebastian.
SUBSTITUTION
Real Sociedad 1-0 Elche
They might be leading but Real Sociedad are forced into an early change as forward Imanol Agirretxe goes off with what appears to be a hamstring problem. The 27-year-old is replaced by Iceland's Alfreo Finnbogason.
Post update
Real Sociedad 1-0 Elche
So a former Arsenal bit-part player scores the first goal of Moyes' Real Sociedad campaign. That's got the crowd going. The word is the reason the crowd is lower than expected is because it is being shown on national television.
GOAL
Real Sociedad 1-0 Elche - Carlos Vela
What a dream start for David Moyes. His first home game is less than 180 seconds old when Carlos Vela heads home from 10 yards out. Moyes hardly celebrates. But wait... the Scot flashes a huge grin as he stands in his technical area with hands in pockets.
KICK-OFF
Real Sociedad 0-0 Elche
Sociedad, in their blue and white striped shirts, get the game up and running.
Post update
Real Sociedad v Elche (19:45 GMT)
Here comes Moyes. New club, new image? The Scot is dressed in an immaculate dark blue suit. Will he get a smart performance from his team?
Post update
Real Sociedad v Elche (19:45 GMT)
There are plenty of empty seats dotted around the Anoeta Stadium as kick-off approaches. It's hardly surprising considering Sociedad have won just two games all season. Here come the players. But where's Moyes?
Did Moyes pass his first test?
Deportivo La Coruna 0-0 Real Sociedad
Andy West
Spanish football writer on Moyes' first game as Sociedad boss
"Tepid is perhaps the best word to describe an encounter which could have been a lot better but was by no means all bad for Real Sociedad.
"Despite having trained for little more than a week under their new manager, there was a clear game plan and a commitment to fight for a point when the going got tough in the final stages. And the biggest positive of all: it was their first clean sheet of the season.
"So there is plenty to build on, but much more will be expected by the time of Moyes's next big date: the local derby with Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, 14 December."
Read more of Andy West's verdict on Moyes' first game in charge on the BBC Sport website.

Don't forget your scarf
Real Sociedad v Elche (19:45 GMT)
It's a chilly night in northern Spain. Moyes and his new assistant Billy McKinlay have been out to inspect the pitch. Sociedad's 32,000-capacity Anoeta Stadium is beginning to fill. We're less than 15 minutes from kick-off.
From Preston to San Sebastian
Real Sociedad v Elche (19:45 GMT)
San Sebastian, home of Real Sociedad, is a little different to Preston, where Moyes resided when he was Manchester United's and Everton's boss. For starters there's no bus station at the bottom of a huge multi-storey car park.
Instead the city in northern Spain is a surfer's paradise with enthusiasts coming from all over the world to try their hand at the notoriously tricky Basque waves.
The question is: Will Moyes give it a go on his day off?

Nathan Brunnen: Europe's bargain buy has to go to Arsenal's Danny Welbeck this season given the start to the season he's had, cost the same as Liverpool's Mario Balotelli.
Soccer Pundit: It has to be Chelsea's Diego Costa. Worth more than the money being priced on him.

Familiar faces
Real Sociedad v Elche (19:45 GMT)
Any familiar faces on show tonight? Well, Arsenal fans may recall Carlos Vela, who lines up in Sociedad's forward line. The 25-year-old Mexico international was never a regular under Arsene Wenger but he did manage 11 goals over the course of six years with the Gunners.
Midfielder Esteban Granero, 27, was a £9m QPR signing but stayed just one season at Loftus Road before joining, initially on loan, Sociedad.
Elche, who are one place above Sociedad in the table, include 19-year-old midfielder Mario Pasalic who is on loan from Chelsea, on the bench. But their former Grimsby defender Charlie I'Anson does not feature as he is on loan at Alcorcon in the Segunda Division.

It's Black Friday. The shops are rammed and elbows are flying as eager shoppers look to snaffle up a pre-Christmas bargain. Everybody loves a cut-price deal but will David Moyes be raiding the Premier League to aid Sociedad's fight against the drop when the January transfer window opens? Blame game
Real Sociedad v Elche (19:45 GMT)
Poor 'Moyesy'. He might be hundreds of miles away in the Basque Country but it seems he is still getting blamed for anything that goes wrong in Manchester. And not just at Old Trafford.
Earlier this week a 'massive mysterious bang' was heard across Salford and Manchester that sent social media into near meltdown. One resident, DavetheRave, tweeted: "It was the sound waves from David Moyes's United career catching up with him...it went past so quick."
Surely everyone with a heart and without a United season ticket wants Moyes to succeed in Spain? Don't they?
Spotlight on Moyes
Real Sociedad v Elche (19:45 GMT)
There are no silky skills from Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo isn't making an appearance and Luis Suarez won't be showing his teeth... Real Sociedad versus Elche is hardly La Liga box office.
But this game means everything to David Moyes as the former Manchester United and Everton boss looks to secure his first win in his second game in charge of Sociedad. The 51-year-old's first ended in a drab goalless draw away to Deportivo La Coruna and was completely overshadowed by Messi becoming La Liga's all-time leading goalscorer.
But Moyes has the spotlight all to himself tonight in what is the only top-flight game in Spain. Will the Glaswegian shine in San Sebastian?
Post update
This time last year it was all smiles for David Moyes as the Scot basked in the afterglow of a 5-0 Champions League demolition of Bayern Leverkusen.
His Manchester United side were three points off second spot in the Premier League after a six-match unbeaten run before it all started going horribly wrong.
Now Moyes finds himself rebuilding his battered managerial reputation in a foreign land. His first home game in charge of Real Sociedad is a relegation ding dong against fellow La Liga strugglers Elche.
It's Black Friday. The cash tills are ringing non stop, but can Moyes cash in on three points?
