West Brom manager Tony Pulis speaking to Dan Walker: "We switched off from a throw in deep in their half of the pitch. There's two or three things that happened in that movement, which haven't happened since I've been here.

"Up to that point, I thought we were well in control of the game. We've had our chances and not taken them."

More from West Brom manager Tony Pulis: "I don't know why Jack Grealish was sent off, but I cannot understand why Claudio Yacob was sent off. That's a block tackle, something you're taught at five years of age. The referee lets it run on for a few seconds and the disappointing thing is it's two yellows and we can't appeal it. That's going to cost us again when he misses the game against Stoke.

"We've come here twice in a week and had two bad decisions go against us. Fate hasn't been with us in that respect.

"The referee says Yacob's jumped in to that challenge, but there's enough people moaning about refs without me going on too much."

Tony Pulis makes the good point that he can't even appeal against Claudio Yacob's sending-off as it was for two bookings - not a straight red card.

Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood: "It's huge, a massive for the club and we're delighted. I spoke to the boys in there and I'd like to dedicate it to the fans. They've stuck with us.

"It's great as a day out at Wembley is a great day out for everyone and the fans especially.

"I thought it was boring in the first half and I had a few words during the break and told them to step it up and it worked.

"I didn't see a bad tackle in the whole game. It's a shame for Jack Grealish who has his head down in there, but there's plenty more opportunities for him.

Scott Sinclair wasted a good chance running though the left channel earlier on but he buries this one. He runs through, cuts back on to his right foot and curls the ball into the far corner to spark a mini pitch invasion.

West Brom are so ragged since that change of shape, I don't even know which shape they are supposed to have but whatever it is, it's wrong. Aston Villa have another great chance as they get clear, it's laid back to the waiting Ashley Westwood and his shot is blocked by a flying Albion defender.

Villa should be out of sight. They should be booking the hotel and the train tickets for Wembley.

Scott Sinclair again! West Brom's defence has been all over the place since they took Jonas Olsson off and Scott Sinclair runs in behind them again. He is never convincing on his left foot though, you never backed him to hit the target and he doesn't, dragging a shot wide from 18 yards.

At the other end Saido Berahino hits one well wide from similar range.

GREAT SAVE!

Great save! Villa almost make it two as they put together a neat move, freeing Scott Sinclair in behind but Boaz Myhill comes out brilliantly to spread himself and make a fine sprawling save. That was the game right there. Wembley beckoned for Sinclair and for Villa.

That's two stone cold sitters that West Brom have missed today now! Brown Ideye shanked one over in the first half and now Joleon Lescott heads wide from four yards out. Again it is a corner which undoes Villa, an inswinging ball finds Lescott at the back post and he heads it wide.

West Brom equalised on Tuesday night from a set-piece and another deep free-kick causes panic in the Villa defence, Brown Ideye is jostling for it and it eventually falls for Joleon Lescott. If he could have anticipated it, he would have had a real chance. But the ball took him by surprise and just ends up hitting him.

Boom! Boom, shake shake the room! Fabian Delph gives us lift off with a cracking hit, great goal from the Villa captain. They work the ball nicely from the right to the left, Delph is the overlapping man and he can just run on to a perfectly-weighted pass and put his left foot through the shot.

He hits it hard and low from 18 yards, fine technique and power, past Boaz Myhill in a flash.

That's better, and it gets the Holte End singing again. Villa attack with purpose and direction down the right, the ball is cut back to Leandro Bacuna and his low cross is cut out by a stretching Boaz Myhill.

"I think Tony Pulis is just slightly out doing Tim Sherwood (with his touchline antics) at the moment because his team have been the better in these 37/38 minutes. He won't be pleased that his side aren't going to go in at least a goal up."

Villa's first attack in a long time comes from a quick turnover of possession in the centre, Gabriel Agbonlahor and Fabian Delph link up well but Delph's delivery is poor. Villa then waste a free-kick out wide. A real lack of quality so far from the home side. You can evidently see why they've scored so few goals.

West Brom now well on top, some nervous energy across the stands inside Villa Park. Without Christian Benteke the home side have no out ball. A half-time change may be needed.

Shay Given being kept busy now. Chris Brunt hits a strike into the head of team-mate Jonas Olsson, it loops up and forces Given into tipping over the top. Good stop!

After a fair few minutes of nothingness, West Brom do create an opportunity. Craig Dawson - who all logic tells you should be useless at full-back, but actually is useful - beats his man and puts in a telling cross which Brown Ideye heads at Shay Given. Great ball, deserved better.

The only real incident of note so far has been a bad miss from Brown Ideye - and you can now watch it in the highlights tab at the top of the screen.

James Morrison took that win on points, he physically dragged Claudio Yacob across the pitch. One for Tony Pulis to calm down at the interval.

One ball down the side is all it takes to spring Craig Gardner, he does everything right, gets his head up and flashes it across first time. Brown Ideye gets there first, eight yards out, and he blasts it into the Holte End.

If you are a Villa supporter what you want to do is to leave a little bit there in a challenge - but you don't want to see a bad tackle - to let them know you know that they are playing with a little bit of pain. Tim Sherwood has his pros, he has his cons, but he certainly has Aston Villa playing at a higher tempo. It may be the fact that I'm a footballing philistine, but I found Paul Lambert's possession football incredibly dull to watch. Sherwood's Villa are much more up-and-at-'em.

But it's Albion with the first shot on goal, Saido Berahino cracking a drive from the edge of the box which Shay Given has to beat clear.

You won't see two more animated managers on the sidelines than Tony Pulis and Tim Sherwood. They are already up and about, shouting out instructions. West Brom were expected to play three at the back today but Joleon Lescott has started at left-back of a back four. A flexible approach?

"The second west Midlands derby of the week here at Villa Park as Aston Villa meet West Bromwich Albion - but two of the main protagonists of the home side's vital Premier League win on Tuesday will not be involved.

"Villa's match-winner Christian Benteke is out with a hip injury while Boaz Myhill returns for FA Cup duty in place of Ben Foster in goal. Foster's name was greeted with ironic cheers from the Holte End when it was read out after he capped a dreadful performance by conceding a penalty with seconds left, allowing Benteke to score.

"A place at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final is at stake today, so a game already high in tension will have an added edge."
