    Barcelona v Bayern Munich (Wednesday)

Who do you make favourites in that second leg then? Plenty of subplots kicking around the place - we will of course bring you all he action from the Nou Camp.

  3. Post update

    Barcelona v Bayern Munich (Wednesday)

Barcelona's Lionel Messi is "too good" and impossible to stop, according to Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola ahead of tomorrow's second semi-final.

Bayern and Barca meet at the Nou Camp in Wednesday's Champions League semi-final first leg, with Guardiola back at the Spanish club for the first time since leaving in 2012.

"There is not a system or coach to stop talent of Messi's magnitude," he said.

"The way he has been playing over the past four or five months, you cannot stop him. He is too good."

Messi, 27, scored twice in Barca's 8-0 win over Getafe on Saturday to reach 51 goals for the season, and in November became the Spanish league's all-time top scorer.

Khan Karn: I would take a Bale-Sterling swap any day of the week. Real Madrid can also have; Mignolet, Johnson, Borini, Balotelli, Enrique and Lovren.

Never Fenandes: Why not - Bale to Man U, Ronaldo to Man U and then Bale to Real Madrid? It would be great fun. And it might work too.

    Former Scotland international Pat Nevin

BBC Radio 5 live at the Juventus Stadium

"Real have special players who can do special things but they were not allowed to tonight. Sergio Ramos' passing at the end was lamentable, and a lot of Real players were below their capabilities. They were really disappointing.

"We mentioned before the game about this being a difficult place to play and even though we're talking about world-class players it still might have affected one or two of them, playing here. But when Real are at home the performance levels will come straight back."

  7. The greatest?

    RONALDO WINS THE VOTE

    Ronaldo

In honour of Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon this evening we asked you to vote for the best footballer never to win the Champions League.

The resounding winner was PSV, Barcelona, Internazionale, Real Madrid and AC Milan man Ronaldo with 36.4% of the vote.

If you never had the pleasure of seeing him play at his very best, there are many, many YouTube videos out there.

Get the kettle on, mute the EuroTechno that often accompanies them, and enjoy his unique blend of pace, strength and balletic touch. Count how many ways you can go around the goalkeeper...

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

    Former Scotland international Pat Nevin

BBC Radio 5 live at the Juventus Stadium

"Personality-wise Cristiano Ronaldo bosses things at Real Madrid. If there are two balls on - Ronaldo or Bale - they give the ball to Ronaldo. Bale has to be a big strong character, but it's almost impossible to take that off Ronaldo, who I feel thinks of Bale as a threat.

"That must be hard to deal with. I also don't think Bale is 100% fit. We know he has incredible pace, and ordinarily four or five times a game he will let rip and burn off past defenders. Not once did we see that today."

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

Former Manchester United defender Phil Neville

    BBC Radio 5 live

"Tonight we saw the Carlos Tevez of his early days at Manchester United and at Manchester City, it was absolutely wonderful and he didn't give the Real defenders a moment's rest.

"Gareth Bale was disappointing though. Getting the ball in the second half he looked short on confidence. Normally he would turn and run straight at the defender, but he turned out and passed it back instead. That is not the Bale we know."

  12. 'We are very confident'

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

Juventus left-back Patrice Evra: "The most important thing was the win. It is never easy against Real and I am very proud of my team mates and staff. We prepared very well and we got the win. We are very confident. Well done, we are 50% of the way there.

"Nobody expected us to get this far, it is 12 years since we got this far.

"Carlos Tevez has United blood like myself. He is a champion. He has had a fantastic year and we want to win the Champions League. He is a massive professional."

Nathan, Harrogate: Bale to Man Utd with Di Maria going the other way. Di Maria and Ronaldo had a great understanding which produced many goals, while Bale would be hero worshipped at Old Trafford.

Tom, North Wales: Good performance from Juventus who can rest their entire first team 11 now the league is won. Could give them the edge in the second leg.

If we are being critical of Gareth Bale, that's nothing on what the Spanish press will be writing.

Carlos Tevez in contrast had five shots, 51 touches, 36 passes and created two chances.

"In fairness to Bale, asking him to play as a centre forward - something he's hardly ever done - against a defence like Juve isn't too clever."

  16. 'Real had nine men'

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

ITV's panel of former Manchester United players are not impressed with members of the Real side tonight...

Roy Keane: "You can't win a game with 10 men. Gareth Bale gave Real Madrid nothing tonight. He took the easy decision every time. The reason he is at Real Madrid is because he can be brave on the ball. He didn't take a player on once and his team-mates will not be happy with him."

Paul Scholes: "They had nine men. Sergio Ramos was even worse."

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

    Former Scotland international Pat Nevin

BBC Radio 5 live at the Juventus Stadium

"Juventus are the champions of Italy, again, and this season has been built on an incredibly good defence. They have not given away many goals in the Champions League either this year, and they are good on the break.

"Carlos Tevez looks as sharp as sharp can be, so there is every chance they can do it. I still think they are slight underdogs, but I would not be shocked - even mildly surprised - if they do it."

"Juventus might have taken 0-0 before the game. It's not over and they are not through yet, but this is an amazing result for them. The fans here feel they can go away from home and get a draw. That is all they need to reach the Champions League final."

Carlos Tevez's 50th goal for Juventus was the difference maker this evening. He may well need to find another in the Bernabeu...

  23. FULL-TIME

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

There goes the whistle and there are huge celebrations from Juventus! Gigi Buffon embraces his defenders. It was a tactical gamble to sit on a lead but it may have worked. It may have worked.

But a 1-0 win is enough for Real Madrid in the second leg.

    Former Scotland international Pat Nevin

BBC Radio 5 live at the Juventus Stadium

"Fernando Llorente just didn't catch enough of it. The centre-forward, in loads of space at the back post? He has to get it on target with more power than that. That could be so important.

  27. CLOSE!

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

What a chance! Andrea Pirlo's free-kick in was brilliant and Fernando Llorente had a sitter at the back stick! Get your head on it and book the plane tickets to Berlin - but he hardly makes contact and the ball sits up for Iker Casillas to catch. Woeful header.

  28. INJURY TIME

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

THREE MINUTES added on. Juventus free-kick on the left wing. Andrea Pirlo to take.

    Pirlo
  29. Post update

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

    Former Scotland international Pat Nevin

BBC Radio 5 live at the Juventus Stadium

"He isn't the quickest Fernando Llorente but if he passes it back there (see 87 mins)... it's moments like those that win games.

"Yes we know Gareth Bale's a good goal scorer but his link-up play? He and Cristiano Ronaldo have absolutely no understanding whatsoever. That's not really good enough for a centre-forward partnership. James Rodriguez has been poor too. He's another perhaps playing in the shadow of Ronaldo."

  30. Post update

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

Into the last minute, Andrea Pirlo wastes a bright opening for the hosts with an overhit pass.

  31. CLOSE!

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

That could have killed it! Raphael Varane makes a mistake at the back and Juve sub Fernando Llorente is onto it! He goes round Iker Casillas but the angle is very tight, Llorente can't shoot and does well to cut it back - but Dani Carvajal reads it well and clears.

  32. SUBSTITUTION

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

Carlos Tevez and Gareth Bale leave the field - after contrasting evenings. Jese and Roberto Pereyra are on in their places. Juve just playing for the whistle.

  33. Post update

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

    Former Scotland international Pat Nevin

BBC Radio 5 live at the Juventus Stadium

"At 2-1 to Juventus this is brilliantly balanced for the second leg. Another goal for either side massively changes that. At 3-1 Juve will think they can do it, but at 2-2 they would have a mountain to climb in Madrid."

  34. Post update

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

That is awful, Sergio Ramos! Dearie me, a terrible crossfield pass to the fans in Row C. Gareth Bale then gives it away too. All the best attacking players on the pitch and nobody to find them. Luka Modric can't recover soon enough.

  37. Post update

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

    Former Scotland international Pat Nevin

BBC Radio 5 live at the Juventus Stadium

"Since the changes have been made there have been a lot of Real crosses allowed in. It's as if Juventus know they are capable of coping with that - 'we've got three of the best at the back' - and any ball in from Real has to be perfect.

"Fernando Llorente gives Juve a much more physical presence up top. Alvaro Morata gave everything against his old club tonight."

  38. Post update

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

Sit back, sit back - Seems a strange gearshift from Juventus to be honest after they went 2-1 up. If Real equalise in the final 10 minutes, and they could well do, Massimiliano Allegri will kick himself.

  41. Post update

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

    Former Scotland international Pat Nevin

BBC Radio 5 live at the Juventus Stadium

"I don't know if there is a better back three hanging around in world football than Leonardo Bonucci, Andrea Barazagli and Giorgio Chiellini. Bonucci and Chiellini know each other so well as a two and Barzagli just slots in brilliantly in to make a three. Real have got their work cut out."

  42. YELLOW CARD

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

Dani Carvajal - lucky not to be carded in the penalty incident - is now booked for Real Madrid.

Cristiano Ronaldo's goal in the first half by the way was his ninth in Champions League semi-finals. Even Lionel Messi would have to be impressed by that stat.

  43. Post update

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

Toni Kroos whistles a strike just over the top for Real as Juve sit back and counter. I couldn't be doing with this mindset, I'd be a bag of nerves. Juve - and Italy - know what they're doing though.

  44. Post update

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

Carlos Tevez has now scored more Champions League goals this season (seven) than in his five other campaigns combined (six). He's often been a bit-part player throughout his career, for club and country, but build a team around him and this is what you get.

  45. Post update

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

    Former Scotland international Pat Nevin

BBC Radio 5 live at the Juventus Stadium

"Juventus have now switched to a 5-3-2, really steady. The home side are going to try to see this out, but they are going to play on the break as well, with the two wing-backs getting forward. It's brilliantly poised now, this game."

  46. Post update

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

Into the last 20 minutes of a cracking semi-final first leg. Real may not be too unhappy with this scoreline.

  47. Post update

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

Former Manchester United defender Phil Neville

    BBC Radio 5 live

"For Juventus to go to the Bernabeu with just a 2-1 lead, I think they need a better cushion. It's too early for them to sit back on this but it is in Juve's mentality."

  48. Post update

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

Much better from Gareth Bale. He's been more involved in the three minutes since Javier Hernandez went up front than in the hour beforehand. He chops back onto his left foot and stands up a cross which Cristiano Ronaldo is close to meeting.

Giorgio Chiellini goes down with blood spilling from his eye. Luis Suarez not to blame this time...

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

Superb impact from Javier Hernandez. He brings the ball down and finds Gareth Bale with a diagonal pass, Bale heads it on, Hernandez gets a touch and Cristiano Ronaldo is so close to turning it in!

Hernandez's arrival should see Bale get into the game more.

  52. SUBSTITUTION

  53. Post update

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

    Former Scotland international Pat Nevin

BBC Radio 5 live at the Juventus Stadium

"Juventus are 2-1 up and pushing for another. They are completely on top now. They've got a defender warming up on the sidelines but can they really think about sitting back now? This is a really tough call for Massimiliano Allegri. And he must have had second thoughts because Andrea Barzagli has put his green top back on."

Quality from Patrice Evra, has the wheels to go round the outside and almost gets a second penalty in a few minutes from Dani Carvajal, who just about gets his feet out of the way in time. Evra slams a cross across and Pepe does well to clear.

  55. YELLOW CARD

    Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid

Just to clear up who was booked in that penalty incident - Arturo Vidal was booked for dissent, for asking for a red card, while Marcelo was booked for taking out Alvaro Morata just off the ball.

Dani Carvajal - who gave away the penalty - escaped card free...

"Are Juventus going to sit on this now? We know they are capable of doing it, but we have got a game on here again! I loved the run-up from Carlos Tevez - it was like a high jumper.

"Martin Atkinson got everything about the penalty right. There wasn't a great deal of contact, but the referee got the decision spot on."

  57. GOAL

Juventus 2-1 Real Madrid - Carlos Tevez

Nerves? Nope. Carlos Tevez steps up to slam the spot-kick down the middle. Iker Casillas dives out of the way and Juve are back in front.

    Juventus v Real Madrid
  58. PENALTY to JUVENTUS

    Juventus 1-1 Real Madrid

Stunning counter-attack! Marcelo has a shot for Real as they have a corner cleared, it breaks to Carlos Tevez 40 yards from his goal and just floors it. Stunning pace right through the middle, he goes round Dani Carvajal - who brings him down!

Juve want a red card too - but it's yellow.

"I've been watching Raphael Varane and can't help but laugh when people try to take him on for pace. The boy is ludicrously fast. Carlos Tevez just wants the ball into his feet on the edge of the box, because anything long and beyond him is wasting his time.

"All the buzz in the press room at half-time was about how open this game has been. Let's hope for more of the same in this second half."

"I cannot believe James Rodriguez missed from there, after the best move of the night. That would have been one of the best goals we have seen in the Champions League this season. The pace at which Real Madrid moved the ball, it was lightning. What a goal that just nearly was, all for about two inches. Juventus were torn to shreds."

  81. HITS THE WOODWORK

    Juventus 1-1 Real Madrid

That's a brilliant move! Dani Carvajal robs Patrice Evra right by the corner flag and Real Madrid ping it quickly across the width of the pitch, the ball going through James Rodriguez, Toni Kroos and Marcelo before the Brazilian picks out Isco on the overlap. Isco drives into the box on the left, looks up and fires in a head-high cross for James to meet. The Colombian gets there - and heads against the crossbar. He should score, he was a few yards out...

That's what £150m-odd of talent can do! Quick as you like, Real Madrid slice through to equalise and it's a priceless away goal for Cristiano Ronaldo. Juventus 1-0 Real Madrid - Alvaro Morata

Juventus's excellent start bears fruit! Alvaro Morata puts them ahead against his old club and it's more weak keeping from Iker Casillas really. Carlos Tevez bursts into space on the right of the box, he drills in a low shot which is hard and Casillas can only parry it out to Morata, who taps in. Definitely onside.

"Juventus is one of the toughest places to play in football. I'd put it up alongside Anfield. Playing here for Manchester United was the biggest lesson we got in terms of how to play European football. We went to Turin thinking we were a good young team and found we were out of our depth. 148. 'You get what you deserve in life'

Juventus v Real Madrid (19:45 BST)

Gianluigi Buffon won the World Cup in 2006 and has six Serie A winners' medals, but has only reached the Champions League final once - losing to AC Milan in 2003.

"It is a strange thing because I have won virtually everything but the one thing I haven't won is the Champions League, although I have got very close, losing a final on penalties," he told Football Focus.

    Gianluigi Buffon
Image caption: Gigi Buffon cost Juventus 100 billion lire in 2001 - that's a one followed by 11 zeroes...

"But I think that life is very fair and you get what you deserve. I have not yet finished my career, even though I am pretty close to the end. I think that if it is my destiny and if I have earned it, then I will win it.

"There are at least three teams ahead of us in terms of experience at the international level and the players that they have. But I do believe that we are a team on the way up. As a group we have been playing together for a long time; every now and then a new player has come in to improve the team and that is why I think we can do well.

"In fact I am convinced of this and I think that we are able to compete with any other team. But there is a big difference between saying this and thinking that we can win the Champions League."

  149. 'Selfish' Bale back to his best?

Juventus v Real Madrid (19:45 BST)

Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Bodo Illgner

Sport Today on BBC World Service

    Gareth Bale

"In the first half of the season Gareth Bale was accused of being selfish and not passing the ball to other team members who were in better positions, like he was trying to score by himself. Last season he showed what he is capable of in the Copa del Rey final and the Champions League final but in 2015 he has got injuries again.

"Bale is a player who needs 100% fitness because that's his very big strength. If he's not 100% fit it's a very big issue for him. But he made a very good impression in the last match at Sevilla and I think he will have a good performance tonight."

Illgner, 48, won the Champions League as Real's goalkeeper in 1998 and 2000 and the World Cup with Germany in 1990.

  150. Championes, championes!

Juventus v Real Madrid (19:45 BST)

Juventus clinched their fourth straight Serie A title this weekend after a hard-fought victory over Sampdoria secured courtesy of Arturo Vidal's first-half header.

The Turin club needed only a point at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium to win their 31st Scudetto but got all three.

Chile midfielder Vidal scored the decisive goal when he met Stephan Lichtsteiner's cross to head in.

It handed Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri the title in his first season in charge of the club.

The best never to win it?

Ben: Ronaldo, 2 time Ballon d'or winner and world cup hero. No one better never to win champions league

Rob Price: Has to be Buffon. The worlds greatest goalkeeper for the past 15 years or so

Zubin: Casemiro. He's been brilliant this season at Porto. Even with the most successful tackles in UCL.

Fraser: Kevin Muscat - He was a world class defender & tackler.

There could be a few issues with Muscat - apart from the fact he did not appear in the Champions League.

Juventus v Real Madrid (19:45 BST)

    Real_Juventus

Real Madrid don't lose too many big games in Europe - but they haven't fared well against Italian sides at this stage.

Real have been eliminated in their last three European semi-finals against Italian sides - Juventus 2003, Torino 1992 and AC Milan 1989.

It's four changes for Juventus from the weekend. Back come Patrice Evra, Arturo Vidal, Alvaro Morata and Giorgio Chiellini.

Juventus: Buffon, Lichtsteiner, Bonucci, Chiellini, Evra, Marchisio, Pirlo, Sturaro, Vidal, Tevez, Morata.

  154. 'Solid, hard to beat Juve'

Juventus v Real Madrid (19:45 BST)

Former Real Madrid goalkeeper Bodo Illgner

Sport Today on BBC World Service

    Juventus players celebrate

"Juventus have a very strong side with players who have played together for a long time now, although they have a new coach. It's a very solid team. It's hard to beat them, very hard to score against them.

"Just look at the players - Arturo Vidal is excellent, Andrea Pirlo is an extraordinary midfielder even though he is getting older. Gianluigi Buffon is getting older too but he's still a very good goalkeeper with a great CV. Up front they have Carlos Tevez, and the two Spaniards Alvaro Morata and Fernando Llorente. They have very good players outside on the wings like Stephan Lichtsteiner, then they have the Italian defence - Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Barzagli."

Gigi Buffon - 20 years at the top of the game, no Champions League medal in the cabinet.

He must surely be in the running to be the best player of his era to never win the trophy.

    Ronaldo
Image caption: Ronaldo scored 247 league goals in his career - but never won the Champions League

But who truly deserves that accolade?

We've put together a shortlist of names, but we want to hear from you. One caveat - the player must have played in the Champions League without success. So no votes for Le Tissier, Dion Dublin or Jamie Cureton please.

    Gabriel Batistuta

  156. Never won it?

Juventus v Real Madrid (19:45 BST)

    Gianluigi Buffon

My favourite national anthem singer of all time. And one hell of a goalkeeper.

Gianluigi Buffon has been Juventus' goalkeeper since 2001, amassing many medals and big wins, but he's never won the Champions League.

At 37, this could be his last chance.

  157. 12-year itch

Juventus v Real Madrid (19:45 BST)

It has been 12 long years since Juventus reached the last four of the Champions League, but fans of the Italians may well remember that in 2003 they faced Real Madrid at the same stage.

    Alessandro Del Piero

Goals from Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos gave the Spanish side a 2-1 first-leg lead at the Bernabeu, but Juve roared back to win 3-1 in Turin.

David Trezeguet, Alex Del Piero and Pavel Nedved were on target. A decent trio of players!

The two goalkeepers from that night are still first choice. Gigi Buffon for Juve, Iker Casillas for Real.
