  1. Goodbye

We are back for some more Premier League football action tomorrow as Chelsea look to secure the win they need to become Premier League champions.

Our live text will begin at 10:00 BST on Sunday with all the build-up before Chelsea play Crystal Palace at 13:30 BST. Then we focus on the action from White Hart Lane as Tottenham face Manchester City at 16:00 BST.

I will point you in the direction of Chris Osborne's report from the Manchester United v West Brom match on a memorable day for the Baggies.

Thanks for joining us and for all your comments. Until next time, bye for now.

    West Brom
  2. 'That's what goalkeepers are paid for'

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

    West Brom

Tony Pulis on Boaz Myhill's performance at Old Trafford: "Goalkeepers, that's what they're paid for - to have a game like that now and then. Luckily, for Bo it was here."

Faint praise indeed from the boss.

  3. Communication key for Van Gaal

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

    Man Utd

    Louis van Gaal

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal on how his side can improve: "Only by communicating. The players are now very disappointed and the manger is disappointed.

"We have to evaluate what we are doing bad and what we are dong good and how we can improve."

  4. I remembered what the coach said - Myhill

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

    West Brom

West Brom goalkeeper Boaz Myhill on his penalty save from Robin van Persie: "The keeper coach told me certain players like to go a certain way.

"I looked at him and remember what the coach had said and saved it. Happy days."

  5. Keep up to date with Ronaldo

    Real Madrid

How Manchester United could do with Cristiano Ronaldo? And maybe even Javier Hernandez? Both are playing in a vital game for Real Madrid in La Liga. Ronaldo has scored twice as Real aim to keep up the pressure on leaders Barcelona, who won 8-0 earlier on.

Live text commentary of Real Madrid's match against Sevilla is up on our football pages. It is currently 2-1 to Real Madrid.

  6. 'We only focus on us'

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

    West Brom

West Brom manager Tonly Pulis on kicking off after their relegation rivals: "I don't like playing at this time.

"I went berserk today because someone had a mobile on trying to find out the other scores. I told them we only focus on us.

"I came in after the game and they told me all the teams below us had won so it makes it even sweeter."

  7. Pulis hails players' commitment

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

    West Brom

West Brom manager Tony Pulis: "You need to be organised, resilient and have a bit of luck. We had that in abundance.

    Tony Pulis

"It takes a lot of work and commitment from the players - 90 per cent of it is dealing with people off the ball.

"I don't think it was a penalty. The referee was 60 yards away the linesman was 10 yards away and gives a corner, so I don't know how that happens."

  8. We must learn from this - Mata

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

    Man Utd

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata: "It's a frustrating afternoon for us. If you don't score, it's impossible to win.

"We know some teams will do this and we have to find a way to beat them. We need to learn from this and keep going.

"We know that Liverpool and more teams are coming from behind so we need more points as soon as possible."

  9. Coming up on BBC TV

    Match of the Day

    Match of the Day graphic

  10. 'We had enough chances'

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

    Man Utd

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal said: "We knew in advance that they'd park the bus, we have to deal with that.

"In the second half we had enough chances - you have to finish. It's now the third match (they have lost in a row). We have to take care of that. It's very difficult."

DSSBrooks: If LVG cannot get top four, it's a firing. And he can take Falcao, van Persie and Di Maria with him. Klopp is worth a go.

DeathApeDisco: United have one top midfielder, Michael Carrick, and one top striker, Wayne Rooney. One absent, one out of position, awful.

Matt Price: Full credit to Tony Pulis - he's simply fantastic as a manager. Van Gaal, you've just been Pulis-ed!

  12. How they stand - bottom of the Premier League

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

    Bottom of the table

So West Brom are seven points clear of the bottom three and, although mathematically they could still be relegated, surely these three points will be enough to ensure another season of Premier League football at the Hawthorns.

For all you nervous West Brom fans still panicking, Premier League survival can be guaranteed if they win at Newcastle next Saturday.

  13. Post update

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has just faced the cameras. His first line "We knew they would come and park the bus."

  14. Post update

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

How long does someone have to be in charge for them to not be seen as a new manager anymore?

  15. 'Finishing fourth is not good enough for United'

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

    West Brom

    Darren Fletcher

West Brom's former Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher on his former club's fortunes: "The goal all along for them was to finish top four and Chelsea were always going to be tough to catch.

"Manchester United have a new manager and it's a transitional period for them.

"I'm sure everyone at the club will be striving to win the league next season, finishing fourth is not good enough for Manchester United."

  16. 'It's a massive result for us'

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

    West Brom

West Brom midfielder Darren Fletcher: "We worked on making it difficult. We tried to make sure the were playing in front of us and dealt with their crosses.

"We knew we'd have to ride our luck and we did that. The way results went today, It's a massive result for us."

  17. Post update

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

It is time to start getting some reaction. First up is West Brom's Darren Fletcher, who has made a winning return to Old Trafford.

  18. How they stand - top of the Premier League

    Top of Premier League

So Manchester United may just be left fighting it out for fourth place with Liverpool and maybe Tottenham.

United had gone into this game looking to move second as they aim for a top-three finish to avoid the two-legged Champions League play-off that awaits the side that comes fourth in the Premier League.

  19. Coming up on BBC TV

    Match of the Day

    Gary Lineker Twitter

Danny Murphy and Phil Neville will be in the studio with Gary Lineker tonight - 22:30 BST on BBC One - with highlights from all of the day's Premier League games.

  20. Who needs the ball?

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

    Stats

So you don't need the ball to win then? Tony Pulis's side have only TWENTY % of the ball. And still win. Incredible scenes.

Jamie Matthews: What has happened to the team that dismantled Man City, not even a month ago? Rubbish from United, credit to West Brom.

Alex Haworth: Manchester United could play until the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight starts, they still wouldn't score. So predictable.

    Mayweather Pacquiao

Tune in to a 5 live boxing special from 0430 BST on Sunday morning for coverage of the big fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

West Brom were certainly on the ropes for most of that match at Old Trafford, but may have landed a knockout blow to Manchester United's hopes of finishing in the top three.

  24. FULL-TIME

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

Incredible result. Tony Pulis rises to applaud the travelling fans, but how they should be applauding their club's boss. An absolute smash-and-grab from Albion, who scored in fortunate fashion with Chris Brunt's free-kick bouncing off an unaware Jonas Olsson.

But West Brom defended magnificently, with Boaz Myhill making two excellent stops late on, as well as a stunning save from Robin van Persie's penalty. How costly will that penalty miss be for United?

    Myhill
  25. Post update

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

Mata with the cross. Chris Baird with an excellent clearing header.

  26. Post update

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

Falcao shoots, blocked. It is attack versus defence. Can United find an equaliser?

  27. GREAT SAVE!

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

Angel Di Maria is unlucky. Another piece of magic from Boaz Myhill who athletically tips over Di Maria's angled drive.

  28. INJURY TIME

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

Four minutes for West Brom to hang on.

  29. GREAT SAVE!

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

Robin van Persie denied. It is great technique from the Dutchman who takes a touch to set himself and then unleashes a great effort on the left foot from 25 yards out. The ball is creeping inside the post but Myhill gets down well to push it away.

  30. SUBSTITUTION

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

Tony Pulis is never the calmest of managers. And there he is on the touchline bouncing up and down. Can he mastermind a memorable victory? Let's give credit to Pulis. His side have been disciplined, organised and have worked so hard to keep United out.

Andre Wisdom comes on for Craig Gardner to shut up shop. Well, even further.

  31. Text us on 81111

  32. Post update

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

    Angel Di Maria

Di Maria looks woefully short of confidence. He is found on the left wing, with time to send in a delivery. But all he can do is send it straight into Boaz Myhill's hands. You expect more for just south of £60m. In fact, you would expect more if it was £1m.

  33. SUBSTITUTION

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

West Brom are throwing themselves in front of the ball to earn this. And boy are they working hard. Chris Baird charges down a Wayne Rooney volley on the edge of the penalty area.

It is all out attack for United as Radamel Falcao comes on for Paddy McNair. That's Rooney, Van Persie, Di Maria, Falcao, Mata, Fellaini and Young all on the pitch at the same time. Attack, attack, attack.

  34. Top of the table (as it stands)

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

    Table

So there may be hope for Liverpool fans after all. A banner calling for Brendan Rodgers to be sacked was flown over Anfield today. But they could still be in the top four.

  35. Post update

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

United have 13 minutes left to save themselves. West Brom have made a change with Chris Baird coming on for Youssouf Mulumbu. It would be a great three points for West Brom if they can hold on.

  36. Join the debate at #bbcfootball

    Robin van Persie

Femi John Atoyebi: Why RVP instead of Rooney for the penalty?

Paul Collins: Wasn't even a penalty, was outside area. Justice done.

  37. WHAT A MISS

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

You have to hit the target from there. A corner from the right wing finds an unmarked Paddy McNair at the back post, but, six yards out, he can only head wide of the goal. He has his head in his hands. And rightly so. He should have done better.

  38. SAVED PENALTY - Robin van Persie (Man United)

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

    Robin van Persie

Robin van Persie strikes it low to the goalkeeper's left but Boaz Myhill dives to push the spot-kick away.

  39. PENALTY to Manchester United

Handball from Saido Berahino. Albion players say he is outside the penalty area. Robin van Persie to take the penalty. Controversial moment.

  40. Bottom of the Premier League table (as it stands)

    Table

We mentioned West Brom have a tricky run-in. If they win this, they will not care. It will be feet-up time and another year of Premier League football to look forward to.

"Interesting tactics from Van Gaal. Fellaini up front with RVP and Rooney dropping into midfield. Hey ho!"

  42. SUBSTITUTION

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

Tony Pulis has never beaten Manchester United in his managerial career. It is not enjoyed by everyone, but what a job West Brom have done on Manchester United so far. Angel Di Maria has come on for Daley Blind.

  43. Post update

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

    BBC Radio 5 live

Reporter Ian Brown at Old Trafford: "It was a magnificient strike by Chris Brunt but took a big deflection off Olsson to beat De Gea. United had been pressing a lot and West Brom had soaked up the pressure while Fellaini has been switched to centre forward. All of a sudden West Brom committed three men forward and McNair fouled Fletcher."

  44. Post update

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

    Steve Bower

BBC Match of the Day commentator at Old Trafford

"It took a big deflection of Jonas Olsson in the wall, but Tony Pulis will take that slice of luck. Chris Brunt's free-kick has silenced the stadium. You have to go back to December 2001 for the last time Manchester United lost three league games in a row. They need a goal to prevent that scenario now."

  45. GOAL

Manchester United 0-1 West Brom - Jonas Olsson

    Chris Brunt

It was in a dangerous position. Now it is in the back of the net. Chris Brunt's free-kick hits the wall, coming off Jonas Olsson, but it is in. West Brom lead. He didn't know much about it, the ball hits the back of his calf and he is almost too embarrassed to celebrate.

  46. YELLOW CARD

First booking of the match as Paddy McNair clatters into Darren Fletcher. Free-kick, central, 22 yards out for the visitors. Dangerous.

  47. Fixtures to come

    Manchester United 0-0 West Brom

    Fixtures

There are some tasty looking fixtures there. Manchester United v Arsenal could be the game that decides who goes straight into the group phase of next season's Champions League and who has to play a two-legged play-off.

Remember, only the top three in the Premier League go straight into the main Champions League, with the fourth-placed team only entering in the play-off phase.

West Brom will be hoping they do not need to pick up any points from their last two games against Chelsea and Arsenal to stay in the top flight.

  48. Post update

    Manchester United 0-0 West Brom

Marouane Fellaini has been pushed a bit further forward and he links up with Ander Herrera, but the midfielder can only curl an effort wide of Boaz Myhill's goal.

There has been a lot of criticism on social media of Tony Pulis's tactics today. But this next graphic shows how important it is that West Brom get something from this game.

  49. Post update

    Manchester United 0-0 West Brom

    Ander Herrera

United are starting to ask more questions of the Albion defence. Firstly Ashley Young and then Ander Herrera throw in teasing crosses that the away defence struggle to deal with. Good spell for the hosts, but can they make it count?

  50. Post update

    Manchester United 0-0 West Brom

A half-hearted appeal from the home fans calling for a penalty after Marouane Fellaini is bustled off the ball. But even Fellaini isn't interested enough to appeal.

  51. Join the debate at #bbcfootball

Thomas Fiorilli: Van Persie off. Di Maria on. Slowness off, speed and technique on. Please.

John Dykes: If we were watching Chelsea at Old Trafford, Mourinho would be a genius. Pulis however gets labelled as "the enemy of football".

  52. Post update

    Manchester United 0-0 West Brom

I would like to say both sides are getting closer to a goal. But they aren't really. James Morrison shoots well wide at one end and a low 20-yard strike from Robin van Persie is easily dealt with by Boaz Myhill.

  53. Post update

    Manchester United 0-0 West Brom

    Craig Gardner

The Old Trafford crowd are being kept quiet. And it is a wonderful sound if you follow the Baggies. They are doing their job perfectly so far.

We said it might be a lonely afternoon for Saido Berahino. Our friends at Opta have just revealed that he has only touched the ball 11 times in 50 minutes.

Reminds me of my Sunday League career. And that was in the good games.

  54. Post update

    Manchester United 0-0 West Brom

Is Wayne Rooney wasted playing in a deeper position? The ball comes to him 25 yards out and his strike at goal can only find Boaz Myhill, who collects the ball comfortably.

  55. Post update

    Manchester United 0-0 West Brom

Some rare action for Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea, and he performs the job perfectly. He collects an in-swinging corner after Albion started the half brightly with Chris Smalling having to make a well-timed clearance before the set-piece came in.

  56. Text us on 81111

  57. KICK-OFF

    Manchester United 0-0 West Brom

Time to restart. No changes from either side. A big half of football for both sides. Manchester United have scored in all but one of their last 18 home games. They have had no reason to celebrate so far today.

    Manchester United 0-0 West Brom

    BBC Radio 5 live

Reporter Ian Brown at Old Trafford: "United are struggling to find any consistency in this game. There have been short spells where they have put West Brom under pressure, Ashley Young shot over the bar and Myhill has saved twice from van Persie.

"Van Persie had the best chance in his first start since February. West Brom had one big moment where Lescott had a free header from a corner but it went straight at De Gea."

  60. Post update

    Manchester United 0-0 West Brom

So if it remains goalless, this is what it will do to the top of the Premier League table.

    As it stands

Certainly one to file away under 'missed opportunities' for Louis van Gaal's side. Funny how Chelsea get called 'boring' when they have scored two goals per game. If Jose Mourinho's side were in this position you still get the feeling they would get all three points.

Can United take control of this one? Will Van Gaal have given the players the hairdryer treatment?

  61. Text us on 81111

This may cheer up Manchester United fans.

A plane trailing a banner calling for Brendan Rodgers' dismissal flew over Anfield before Liverpool's game with QPR.

    Rodgers banner

"Rodgers out, Rafa in", read the message in a stunt organised by a campaign group called RodgersOutClub.

Rodgers, appointed in May 2012, is the first Liverpool manager in more than half a century not to win a trophy in his first three seasons at the club.

Many fans and former players including Jamie Carragher condemned the banner. Liverpool went on to win the game 2-1 and are still in contention for a top-four finish.

It might not be to everyone's taste, but you have to respect the defensive shift West Brom are putting in. Gareth McAuley is the next to make a crucial block, sliding in to challenge as Robin van Persie was looking to get a shot away.

Marouane Fellaini is not a man to mess with. But it is silly from the Belgium international. He tangles with Albion's Claudio Yacob and gives his opponent a shove as the pair are on the ground.

"I thought he'd done that on purpose - it looks like he did," Carver said. "The ball was off the pitch - he had no need to make the challenge. He will miss two games. Is it an easy way out?"

    Manchester United 0-0 West Brom

Not much to get excited about at Old Trafford. Manchester United have both Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao on the bench. A good day to answer their critics and prove a point? We will see.

  79. WHAT A MISS

    Manchester United 0-0 West Brom

Fine play from Ashley Young on the left wing and his low cross finds an unmarked Robin van Persie. The Dutchman sidefoots an effort at goal, which goes narrowly wide.

Those on one side of the ground think the ball has gone in. But it hasn't. And we are still goalless. Van Persie a bit rusty after a nine-game absence?

  80. CLOSE!

    Manchester United 0-0 West Brom

    Robin van Persie

After Joleon Lescott heads at David De Gea, a couple of quick chances for Manchester United. Robin van Persie's low shot is only palmed away to Ashley Young, whose effort takes a deflection and goes away for a corner. From the corner, the balls falls to Van Persie, who shoots at Boaz Myhill.

Shohidur Rahman: United could not play at a slower tempo if they tried. Playing so much into West Brom's hands.

Ajay Patel: You already know that this is a Di Maria game.

Bob: So many sideward/backward passes in the first 10 minutes. We really need Carrick back.

A first half chance for Manchester United and it falls to Ashley Young, whose shot hits Robin van Persie and goes behind for a goal-kick.

    Goalscorers

If West Brom are going to get something from Old Trafford, they will have to keep this man quiet. He has 14 goals in all competitions, not a bad return for someone playing often in a deep midfield role this season.

  84. Post update

    Manchester United 0-0 West Brom

United are dominating possession but going sideways, back, sideways, back and so on. It could be a lonely day for Saido Berahino up front on his own for the visitors. It is only early on, but West Brom looking well organised.

If they go on to concede five then it's not my fault Baggies fans.

  85. Post update

    Manchester United 0-0 West Brom

    Tony Pulis

West Brom are defending deep. Throwing down the challenge to the hosts. An 'are you good enough to break us down' challenge. It is working so far with Wayne Rooney quiet and Robin van Persie seeing little of the ball.

  86. Post update

    Manchester United 0-0 West Brom

Chants of 'Rio, Rio' fill Old Trafford followed by a standing ovation and the planned applause on the fifth minute for former United defender Rio Ferdinand, after the tragic death of his wife Rebecca yesterday.

Rio Ferdinand wore the number five shirt during his time at Old Trafford.

  87. Post update

    Manchester United 0-0 West Brom

It could have been a fairytale return for Darren Fletcher. The ball is bouncing 25 yards out and Fletcher went for goal. But he is not renowned as a goalscorer. And showed why as the ball goes way off target. But an early sighter for the West Brom captain against his former side.

  88. Post update

    Manchester United 0-0 West Brom

So it is Daley Blind who drops into a left-back role with Robin van Persie the furthest forward for Manchester United as he starts for the first time in 10 matches. That means Wayne Rooney drops a bit deeper as United aim to score their first goal in three games.

  89. KICK-OFF

  93. It will be strange, admits Fletcher

Manchester United v West Brom (17:30 BST)

So we've heard what West Brom boss Tony Pulis thinks about Darren Fletcher's return to Old Trafford, but let's hear from the man himself.

    Darren Fletcher

As you may have seen earlier today, the Scotland midfielder spoke to Football Focus about his return to his old club.

"It will be strange, being in the opposite dressing room and walking out on the opposite side of the tunnel," admits Fletcher. "I will have to focus on what I'm doing, but for me I'm going there to win a match.

"It will be great to see everyone but I will be doing everything possible to get a win for West Brom."

  94. Remember me?

West Brom midfielder Darren Fletcher will be making a return to Old Trafford after playing 340 times for Manchester United and helping them win the Premier League title four times and the Champions League in 2008.

    Darren Fletcher

"You don't want him to get too wrapped up in the occasion, you want him to concentrate on the 90 minutes," said Albion boss Tony Pulis.

"He's at the back end of his career but is a strong character, resilient, forthright and, one day, hopefully, he will go into coaching. He has the right genes to be a good coach and manager.

"He's been fantastic for us, not just on the pitch but off - training ground, the dressing room. It's great credit to the system at Manchester United, the way they brought their young players up. They've done it the right way."

    Steve Bower

BBC Match of the Day commentator

"Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal will expect an immediate reaction after his side's 3-0 defeat at Everton.

"For the first time since December 2013, they have failed to score in back-to-back league games. Tellingly, those successive defeats have come without the protection offered by Michael Carrick. United have lost just one of the 17 matches he has started this season.

"Four points from the last six available has been a welcome return for West Brom after three straight defeats. What will add to the pleasure for Tony Pulis is they've also kept successive clean sheets. They can safely look forward to more stability and a sixth successive season in the top flight."

So, what do we think about today's game? Here is Match of the Day commentator Steve Bower with his thoughts.

  97. Both sides to pay tribute to Rio Ferdinand's wife

    Rio Ferdinand Rebecca Ellison

Manchester United on Twitter: Both teams will wear black armbands today, in memory of Rio Ferdinand's late wife Rebecca, who passed away last night. Fans inside the stadium are also planning a minute's applause on five minutes, in support of the Ferdinand family.

Rebecca Ellison died from cancer on Friday.

  98. Top of the table

    Top of table

So Manchester United start in fourth, but will go back above Arsenal and rivals Manchester City with a win, with City playing Tottenham on Sunday and Arsenal facing Hull on Monday.

Liverpool remain in contention for a top-four finish, but have played at least a game more than United, City and Arsenal.

  99. Bottom of the table

    Premier League table

So this is the bottom of the Premier League table. Are West Brom safe? Well, after wins for Sunderland and Leicester, maybe not just yet. Tony Pulis's side have four games left, but after Manchester United today, travel to Newcastle before ending the season with games against Chelsea and Arsenal.

  101. 'Di Maria can't say he's had a marvellous season'

Manchester United v West Brom (17:30 BST)

So no Angel Di Maria in Manchester United's starting line-up. But boss Louis van Gaal expects the winger to remain at the club despite being disappointed by the Argentina international's first season in English football since his £59.7m move from Real Madrid.

    Angel Di Maria

"He cannot say that he has had a marvellous season here," said van Gaal. "He is not always in the line-up which for him a disappointment, but also for me a disappointment.

"But he is working hard. I'm pleased with his attitude, so that's not a problem. I think Di Maria shall stay.

"The decision is not only to him because we have a contract, and we always speak with every player about the future. That is the same with every player."

  102. Line-ups

Manchester United v West Brom (17:30 BST)

Manchester United XI: De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, McNair, Blind, Mata, Herrera, Fellaini, Young, Rooney, van Persie.

West Bromwich Albion XI: Myhill, Dawson, McAuley, Olsson, Lescott, Brunt, Yacob, Gardner, Mulumbu, Fletcher, Berahino.

  103. Team news

Manchester United v West Brom (17:30 BST)

    Robin van Persie

Only one change for Manchester United from the side that lost 3-0 at Everton on Sunday. And it is an attacking one from Louis van Gaal as Robin van Persie comes into the side, to replace Luke Shaw, who is not in United's 18. It means Angel Di Maria remains on the bench, and is joined by Phil Jones who has recovered from an ankle injury.

West Brom boss Tony Pulis changes two of his starting 11 from the 0-0 draw against Liverpool as Jonas Olsson and Youssouf Mulumbu come in for James Morrison and Victor Anichebe.

  104. Hello

So, no time to waste. It is time for the team news from Old Trafford.

  105. The good times returning to Old Trafford?

From beating Bayern Munich in the most amazing finish possible with two goals in injury time in 1999...

    Manchester United

... to a dramatic penalty shoot-out win against Chelsea in 2008. The Champions League has provided some of the best moments for Manchester United supporters.

    Manchester United

But not this season. This season United's players could leave their passports locked away as they had to watch on enviously from the sidelines.

    Juan Mata and Wayne Rooney

But the good times may be returning to Old Trafford. A victory today and Champions League football could well be back on the menu.
