  8. GOAL - Tottenham 2-2 Stoke

    Mame Diouf

Well well, what a comeback by Stoke. Stephen Ireland lifts the ball into the area and Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris does not know whether to come and claim the ball or not with Mame Diouf lurking. The Senegal striker gets the faintest of touches as the ball nestles in the net.

    Marko Arnautovic

Marko Arnautovic makes no mistake from the spot as he fires the ball past Hugo Lloris. This should make for a tense final 10 minutes. Can Stoke pull off a great comeback?

    Tottenham 1-0 Stoke

Still 15 minutes to go at White Hart Lane. Stoke will need a goal shortly if they are to get anything out of this game. Harry Kane, meanwhile, is clutching ice onto his calf. Let's hope it's nothing serious.

  14. SUBSTITUTION

    Tottenham 2-0 Stoke

More changes for Spurs as the impressive Ryan Mason is taken off for Nabil Bentaleb. And the Algeria midfielder is involved straight away as he tees up Moussa Dembele, who sees his long-range effort saved by Jack Butland.

  15. SUBSTITUTION

    Tottenham 2-0 Stoke

Harry Kane is withdrawn from the action and is replaced by Erik Lamela, leaving the home side without a recognised striker on the pitch.

  16. Post update

    Tottenham 2-0 Stoke

Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is tested for the first time in this half as he saves a low shot from the lively Marko Arnautovic and shortly afterwards beats away Mame Diouf's header from close range. The home fans respond with a rallying cry of "come on you Spurs".

  17. SUBSTITUTION

    Tottenham 2-0 Stoke

Mark Hughes senses his Stoke side need a lift and responds with a double substitution. Stephen Ireland and Joselu are the men to come on for Jonathan Walters and Marco van Ginkel.

  18. CLOSE!

    Tottenham 2-0 Stoke

Tottenham are looking to kill this game off with a third and they almost do so with a well-worked move. Nacer Chadli crosses for Harry Kane in a dangerous position, only for the England striker to see his shot blocked by Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland.

Moments later, Stoke create their best chance of the game at the other end of the pitch when an unmarked Jonathan Walters gets his head on a high cross from Erik Pieters but watches his effort drift wide of the post.

  23. 'Happy birthday Clinton'

    Tottenham 2-0 Stoke

N'Jie, who scored seven goals for the Ligue 1 side last season and has netted six in 10 appearances for Cameroon, has joined following the departure of Spain striker Roberto Soldado to Villarreal.

It is also the player's 22nd birthday today. And as is customary these days the club have wished him many happy returns.

  24. Spurs bring in Lyon striker N'Jie

    Tottenham 2-0 Stoke

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino said he was in the market for another striker and in case you missed it this morning the club snapped up Lyon striker Clinton N'Jie on a five-year deal.

  25. Post update

  26. HALF-TIME

    Tottenham 2-0 Stoke

Referee Robert Madley puts the whistle to his lips and blows for half-time. Tottenham have looked very dangerous and deserve their two-goal lead. Much to do for Stoke in the second half.

  27. GOAL - Tottenham 2-0 Stoke

    Nacer Chadli

Tottenham punish Stoke again just before half-time. Ben Davies does all the hard work down the left flank and his cross picks out the unmarked Nacer Chadli at the back post. The Belgium international meets the ball on the volley and guides it into the net.

    Nacer Chadli
  28. Post update

    Tottenham 1-0 Stoke

Relief for the Tottenham defence as Stoke carve out their best chance of the half. Spurs fail to deal with a ball into the penalty area and Jonathan Walters heads it across goal for Mame Diouf, only for the Senegal forward to head it straight at Hugo Lloris.

At the other end Jack Butland produces a brilliant reaction save with his leg to deny Ryan Mason from close range after the Spurs midfielder had got on the end of Harry Kane's brilliant through ball.

  29. Post update

    Tottenham 1-0 Stoke

A half chance for Stoke late in the first half as Marko Arnautovic bundles his way through the Tottenham defence. He manages to fire a dangerous ball across the six-yard box but there is no-one in a Stoke shirt there to apply the decisive touch.

Even though it didn't count that was clinically struck by Harry Kane. And it gets a nod of approval from England assistant manager Ray Lewington, who is watching from the stands at White Hart Lane.

  34. DISALLOWED GOAL

    Tottenham 1-0 Stoke

Spurs' Harry Kane has been all-action again this afternoon and he gets himself into a good position on the right edge of the penalty area, then strikes a sweet half-volley from a tight angle past Jack Butland. But alas, the assistant referee had already raised his flag for offside.

Stoke's Erik Pieters is on the end of a tackle from Moussa Dembele and requires a bit of attention from the physio. It's not serious, though, and he's quickly up and about again.

Shortly afterwards Kyle Walker is shown a yellow card after hauling back Stoke's Marko Arnautovic. Stoke aren't able to make use of the resulting free-kick though.

  39. Post update

  40. GOAL - Tottenham 1-0 Stoke

  41. CLOSE!

    Tottenham 0-0 Stoke

Tottenham goakeeper Hugo Lloris might be a bit rusty having only just returned from a wrist injury - and it showed here. A sloppy pass is intercepted by Stoke striker Mame Diouf and he drills a low shot at goal, but Lloris saves his own blushes to save.

Lovely play from Christian Eriksen as he brings a smart save out of Jack Butland with a low-angled shot which the Stoke goalkeeper pushes just past the post.

Moments earlier Ibrahim Afellay gave a glimpse of his early ambition as he shot from distance blocked.

  46. Post update

    Tottenham 0-0 Stoke

A relatively subdued start from both teams, Stoke seem content to sit back, soak up pressure and hit Tottenham on the break so far. Spurs seeing plenty of the ball.

  50. 'Stoke's signings show ambition'

    Tottenham v Stoke (15:00 BST)

    Conor McNamara

    BBC MOTD commentator

"Both sides were beaten by freaky goals last weekend. Kyle Walker unfortunately prodded into his own net at Old Trafford, while Philippe Coutinho's winner at the Britannia Stadium was just freakishly good.

"Otherwise they could have earned a point each. Stoke have started this campaign without last season's spine. Asmir Begovic is now at Chelsea, Ryan Shawcross is injured and Steven Nzonzi has joined Sevilla.

"In response, Mark Hughes has been ambitious in the market. Xherdan Shaqiri is the latest exotic arrival, but they may take time to gel. Tottenham's new recruits have been defenders - not surprising for a side with only one Premier League home clean sheet in 2015."

"Today is a good chance at White Hart Lane to get our first win and we need to play in our way and show confidence. There's no pressure with what happened last season against Stoke, this is a different season and a different game."

  55. No Shaqiri for Stoke

    Tottenham v Stoke (15:00)

    Xherdan Shaqiri

In case you missed it, one player who won't be involved for Stoke at White Hart Lane today is Xherdan Shaqiri, who joined the Potters from Inter Milan.

Stoke have received the Swiss midfield playmaker's international clearance, but it has emerged he must serve a one-game ban suspension which applied to the Coppa Italia competition last season.

A statement from Stoke said: "In accordance with Fifa Regulations, The FA have no alternative but to implement the suspension of another association, but the club have expressed its disappointment that the suspension has been applied to a Premier League fixture this season rather than to a comparative cup competition fixture."
