  1. That's a wrap

    Birmingham v Derby

So, Derby County draw their first four games of a season for the first time in their history and Birmingham remain unbeaten.

Read Ged Scott's match report here.

A very enjoyable and watchable Friday night contest between two sides who'll find themselves at the right end of the table if they continue to play like that this season.

Thanks for joining us this evening. See you again for more Championship action tomorrow lunchtime between Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday from 12:00 BST.

  2. Player reaction

Birmingham City goalscorer Stephen Gleeson told Sky Sports:

"When we score, we like to hit teams on the counter attack and that's how we capitalised tonight.

"They're a top, top side and we're happy with the point, but we could've defended and countered a bit better.

"They're a dangerous side with top quality players who are always on you, so it was hard work to defend against them."

  3. Player reaction

Derby winger Tom Ince told Sky Sports:

"Birmingham played well in the first half. We've had a lot of games in the last week and they came out sharp.

"We've given away a sloppy goal, but in the second half we dominated.

"We had a lot of chances, the keeper pulled off some fantastic saves, we hit the post twice, so we'll look back and think we could have nicked it."

    Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

So, an entertaining game with plenty of chances for both sides.

Some reaction from both sides to come shortly.

    Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

    Johnny Russell

It doesn't come to anything for Derby and they have to settle for yet another draw thanks to Johnny Russell's second-half equaliser.

  6. Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

Late half-chance for Derby. Ryan Shotton's ball across goal is scraped clear. Tom Ince drills a shot that's deflected out for a corner.

  7. Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

Pressure from Derby, but Birmingham stand firm to clear.

  8. Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

Into stoppage time. Three minutes added on.

  9. Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

Another free-kick pumped in to the area from Birmingham.

Jonathan Spector can't steer it towards goal though.

  10. Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

Lack of composure from Johnny Russell for Derby.

He looks to drill a left-foot shot on goal after coming in from the right, but it's a tame effort that's easily cleared.

  11. Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

    Wasted free-kick from Birmingham.

Had the chance to deliver a quality ball, but Demarai Gray's cross sails well wide of anyone in the box.

  12. Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

Into the last five minutes. Still all square.

Who might be the hero of the night in the closing moments?

    Birmingham v Derby
  13. Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

Birmingham captain Michael Morrison flashes a header wide from the corner as Richard Keogh is visibly all over Clayton Donaldson, tugging his shirt about three different ways at once.

Nothing given by Lee Mason though.

  14. Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

More pressure from Derby as they search for a winner. Andreas Weimann can't stop himself from being forced wide as he flashes a ball across the box.

Birmingham respond as Clayton Donaldson forces a corner.

    Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

Another change for Derby County as Ryan Shotton comes on to replace Cyrus Christie.

    Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

Into the last 10 minutes at St Andrew's and the game is starting to get a little stretched. Derby's Richard Keogh eventually goes into Lee Mason's book for a couple of late challenges.

  17. Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

Moment of alarm for Birmingham and Tomasz Kuszczak.

He spills one out of his hands at the feet of Andreas Weimann just as it looked like the chance had gone. Thankfully his defenders are on guard and clear quickly.

  18. Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

Just as I build things up, the game goes in to a bit of a lull again.

This happened in the first half before Stephen Gleeson opened the scoring for Birmingham.

  19. Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

I know it's been said a few times already tonight, but there's been some cracking entertainment in this one.

Can either side find a winner in the closing 15 minutes?

    Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

Birmingham have made a double change in a bid to stifle this Derby resurgence.

Andrew Shinnie and Jacques Maghoma have replaced Jon Toral and David Cotterill.

  21. CLOSE!

    Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

End to end stuff now in this one now.

Clayton Donaldson rifles in a shot from the edge of the area, but it's into the side-netting. Some of the home fans think it's in, but not quite.

    Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

    Nearly another goal for Derby.

Andreas Weimann causes all sorts of headaches for Birmingham's back four. His shot deflects off a defender and then a sprawling Tomasz Kuszczak gets his fingers on it to divert the ball onto the post.

    Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

    Chris Martin

For a second it looked like Lee Mason had given Derby a penalty.

But, he's booked Chris Martin for a dive after he and Tom Ince had combined on the edge of the box. Martin goes down in the box, the whistle is blown and out comes the card.

  24. Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

BBC Sport's Ged Scott at St Andrew's:

"The unrelenting pace of a cracking, evenly-matched contest has certainly not let up after the break.

"The early-season impression from the Championship is that the gauntlet thrown down by attack-minded Bournemouth and Watford last season has been taken up by this term's likely challengers - who are not going to die wondering."

    Johnny Russell

    Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

So Darren Bent almost puts his side ahead but is replaced within moments.

On comes Andreas Weimann in his place.

    Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

So close to a second for Derby! Tom Ince runs rings around the Blues defence and puts in a teasing cross for Darren Bent, who heads against the bar.

The Rams definitely on top now.

  27. GOAL (Russell)

    Birmingham City 1-1 Derby County

Two in as many games for Johnny Russell and the Derby midfielder pops up yet again with an equaliser for the visitors.

Lovely couple of touches from Tom Ince who gets a neat turn in to find Russell in space running in to the box, and his left-foot shot is driven into the net.

    Johnny Russell
  28. Birmingham City 1-0 Derby County

At the hour mark and George Thorne forces a corner for Derby.

Nothing much for the hosts to worry about as Tom Ince's delivery is well cleared.

Looks like Paul Clement is set to bring on Andreas Weimann off the bench.

  29. Birmingham City 1-0 Derby County

Birmingham striker Clayton Donaldson finds space for a shot with a run forward.

He stings the palms of Scott Carson who beats it away from goal.

Jon Toral can't direct the rebound on target and the chance goes begging.

  30. Birmingham City 1-0 Derby County

Chris Martin makes his first real notable contribution of the night for Derby.

A incisive through ball is almost played on to the feet of Darren Bent, but Jonathan Spector slides across to cut it out just as Bent looks set to be in on goal.

  31. Birmingham City 1-0 Derby County

Demarai Gray has Cyrus Christie in all sorts of bother down the Birmingham left flank.

He skips past his determined challenges and gets to the byline, but can't quite find a team-mate in the area to finish off his run.

  32. Birmingham City 1-0 Derby County

    Darren Bent

Birmingham goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak is called into action for the first time in a while.

A drilled effort from distance by Craig Forsyth is parried away by the Poland international and Darren Bent can't quite get to the rebound in time to head towards goal before Kuszczak punches it away.

  33. Birmingham City 1-0 Derby County

A terrible effort from George Thorne for Derby.

Some neat build-up from his team-mates, but he lashes a left-foot shot well wide of goal - so wide that it almost spins out for a throw-in.

  34. Birmingham City 1-0 Derby County

David Cotterill takes a shot this time for Birmingham, but Scott Carson is able to easily claim that one with both hands above his head.

All the home side since the break - manager Gary Rowett will be delighted with how his team have started in the second period.

    Gary Rowett
  35. Birmingham City 1-0 Derby County

    Birmingham on the attack again.

Stephen Gleeson tucks a ball into the area for Jon Toral, but he can't get the ball out of his feet to shoot before Derby close ranks.

  36. Birmingham City 1-0 Derby County

    Demarai Gray

Birmingham start the second half with more positive intent.

Demarai Gray takes a shot from outside the area, but it's well wide.

He looks hungry for a goal though.

  37. Birmingham City 1-0 Derby County

Teams are back out getting ready for the second-half.

No changes at the break from either side.

Can Derby roar back in to this one to gain a first win of the season or is it going to be two home wins in two for Birmingham?

  38. HT: Birmingham City 1-0 Derby County

    Stephen Gleeson

BBC Sport's Ged Scott at St Andrew's:

"What an end to an exciting half of football!

"Stephen Gleeson looked like he had surprised even himself with that spectacular low, slightly deflected 30-yard strike. And no wonder - that was his first goal for Blues on his 45th appearance for the club.

"New striker Nicolai Brock-Madsen, introduced to the Blues fans a few minutes later at half-time, will be hoping that it does not take him as long to break his duck."

  39. Maloney poised to join Hull

Scotland international set to sign for Tigers

    Shaun Maloney

Hull City are set to sign former Celtic and Wigan midfielder Shaun Maloney for an undisclosed fee.

Scotland international Maloney, 32, joined MLS side Chicago Fire in January.

  40. Austin 'a snip at £15m'

Can QPR hold onto their star striker?

    Charlie Austin

Charlie Austin remains a QPR player for now, and many Rangers will hope it stays that way until after the transfer deadline on 1 September.

The 26-year-old striker, valued at £15m, has been linked with a number of top-flight clubs since QPR's relegation at the end of last season.

Would Austin be a good signing for a Premier League club? Match of the Day pundit Jermaine Jenas, who played alongside Austin at Loftus Road, has given us his view.

  41. Burnley break transfer record to sign Gray

Clarets pay reported £9m for Brentford striker

    Andre Gray

Brentford striker Andre Gray has joined fellow Championship club Burnley for an undisclosed club-record fee, which BBC Sport understands is in the region of £9m.

Hull City and Bristol City had both shown interest in signing the 24-year-old ex-Luton forward, who scored 18 goals for Brentford last season.

    Birmingham City 1-0 Derby County

While the two sets of players enjoy a brew and a slice of orange, let's take a look at some of the stories you may have missed from the Championship today...

    Birmingham City 1-0 Derby County

Just the one minute added on at St Andrew's and Birmingham go in to the break a goal to the good.

More than what they deserve for creating some decent chances.

  44. GOAL (Gleeson)

    Birmingham City 1-0 Derby County

    Stephen Gleeson

What a strike from Birmingham midfielder Stephen Gleeson to give his side the lead just before half-time.

His drilled effort from about 30 yards does take a deflection on the way, but Scott Carson isn't stopping that as it nestles in the bottom corner.

That's Gleeson's first goal for the club, in what his 45th appearance for Blues.

  45. Birmingham City 0-0 Derby County

Some good old-fashioned hoof ball from Derby as Johnny Russell clears the lines for the visitors with a long punt upfield.

Eventually comes back to his front men, but suddenly after a flurry of chances, there's little cutting-edge in the final third.

  46. Birmingham City 0-0 Derby County

A PA announcement at St Andrew's is very audible over the crowd as the game goes into a bit of a lull just before half-time.

Can someone find a breakthrough before the interval?

  47. Birmingham City 0-0 Derby County

Johnny Russell makes a strange choice as he's presented with a chance to rifle one in the back of the net for Derby.

He opts to go for a cute bit of placement from the edge of the area instead, but the ball just floats harmlessly by. Wasteful.

  48. Birmingham City 0-0 Derby County

    Jon Toral

Birmingham's Jon Toral finds himself unfairly penalised for a strong tackle on Cyrus Christie in the centre circle.

Plenty of bite in this one, despite no goals so far.

  49. Birmingham City 0-0 Derby County

    Demarai Gray

And here is another chance as Demarai Gray unleashes a stinging shot for Birmingham.

Cuts inside off the left wing and drives one with his right. Scott Carson dives across to palm it well away from danger.

  50. Birmingham City 0-0 Derby County

As Ged just mentioned, plenty of chances so far, but no goals in this one.

You get the feeling an opener isn't far away with the quality on display in both attacks tonight.

  51. CLOSE!

    Birmingham City 0-0 Derby County

A cheeky attempt from distance by David Cotterill as he spots Scott Carson off his line.

Shoots from inside his own half, but it's going over.

Referee Lee Mason reckons Carson tipped it over though and awards a corner.

  52. Birmingham City 0-0 Derby County

BBC Sport's Ged Scott at St Andrew's:

"Chances coming thick and fast at both ends - but the biggest roar of the night so far undoubtedly reserved for Darren Bent. The former Aston Villa striker appeared to have set himself up to fire Derby ahead, only to drag his effort the wrong side of the post.

"Even though he hardly covered himself in glory in his days across the city, Bent's presence as an ex-Villa player at St Andrew's was still enough to earn a loud chorus of ironic cheers from the home fans.

"It went a lot quieter a few minutes later when Tom Ince's shot bounced back off Blues keeper Tomasz Kuszczak's right post."

  53. Birmingham City 0-0 Derby County

Derby force another corner after Demarai Gray lets one deflect off him.

Comes to nothing for the visitors and as Birmingham go down the other end, there's a shout for handball against Derby captain Richard Keogh.

Would've been harsh had it been given after bouncing off his knee on to his arm.

    Birmingham City 0-0 Derby County

    Tom Ince

Great strike from Tom Ince and he is inches away from opening the scoring.

A rifling left-foot shot from distance curling away from the goalkeeper, but not close enough to bounce in off the left post.

  55. Birmingham City 0-0 Derby County

Two corners in succession for Derby.

The first, a real non-event. The second eventually leads to a half-chance for both Tom Ince and Darren Bent.

Tomasz Kuszczak saves well at Bent's feet to push it out for another corner.

The visitors growing in confidence now.

  56. Birmingham City 0-0 Derby County

Darren Bent involved in the action again.

Craig Forsyth hangs a deep cross in from the left, but Bent can't get his header on target.

  57. Birmingham City 0-0 Derby County

Derby finally show some attacking intent.

Tom Ince marauds forward and finds Johnny Russell in the area. He can't get his shot away in time, but it falls to Darren Bent.

The former Aston Villa man does no better though and it's out for a goal kick, much to the delight of the home supporters.

  58. No place for new signing Brock-Madsen

    Birmingham City 0-0 Derby County

Birmingham named an unchanged side for tonight's game with Derby, meaning new signing Nicolai Brock-Madsen will have to wait a little while for his Blues debut.

The 22-year-old forward has joined from Danish side Randers for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £500,000.

    Nicolai Brock-Madsen
  59. Birmingham City 0-0 Derby County

Birmingham in the thick of the action again as Jon Toral latches on to a free-kick which deflects off the Derby wall.

His ambitious left-foot volley goes well over Scott Carson's goal though.

  60. CLOSE!

    Birmingham City 0-0 Derby County

    Clayton Donaldson

    Chance here for Clayton Donaldson.

Stephen Gleeson floats a ball in to the Derby area and the striker looks to nod it towards goal, but directs it straight at Scott Carson.

Early encouragement for the home side.

  61. Birmingham City 0-0 Derby County

Demarai Gray finds room out wide left for Birmingham, but he can't squeeze a ball in to the centre as Derby crowd out the highly-rated winger.

  62. Birmingham City 0-0 Derby County

Derby not finding much time on the ball so far and Birmingham carve out a first shot of the evening as Demarai Gray rifles one straight at Scott Carson after a neat chest down by Clayton Donaldson.

  63. Birmingham City 0-0 Derby County

Early corner for Birmingham City, but David Cotterill's delivery to the back post is easily cleared by the visitors.

  64. KICK-OFF

    Birmingham City 0-0 Derby County

And we're under way at St Andrew's.

  65. Teams are out

Birmingham City v Derby County (19:45 BST)

Moments away from kick-off now at St Andrew's with both teams out on the pitch and completing the pre-match pleasantries.

Friday night under the Birmingham lights is nearly upon us.

  66. A new start for Derby

Birmingham City v Derby County (19:45 BST)

BBC Sport's Ged Scott at St Andrew's:

"Derby, under new management following the summer departure of Steve McClaren to Newcastle, are also unbeaten in the Championship this season and sit a point behind Blues.

"They have a clutch of former Midlands footballers in their ranks - former Albion keeper Scott Carson, ex-Wolves defender Jason Shackell and former Villa striker Darren Bent."

  67. Listen live on BBC local radio

Birmingham City v Derby County (19:45 BST)

If you live in the BBC WM or BBC Radio Derby transmission areas, you can listen to full match commentary of tonight's game.

Unfortunately, we can't bring it to you online here for contractual reasons.

  68. Revenge on the agenda for Blues?

Birmingham City v Derby County (19:45 BST)

BBC Sport's Ged Scott at St Andrew's:

"Tonight's game could be perceived as a real test of just how far Birmingham City have come in their 10 months under Gary Rowett.

"Having taken over in the wake of Blues' club-record 8-0 home hammering by Bournemouth, Rowett's side lost just once in his first eight games in charge.

"But, when they hosted Derby last December, Blues were well beaten 4-0 - their first home defeat under Rowett, and still their biggest reverse of his reign.

"Blues, reinforced by five summer signings and bolstered by four points from their first two games, have a chance to avenge that Boxing Day battering."

  69. Season so far

    Birmingham: P2 W1 D1

    Birmingham manager Gary Rowett

Gary Rowett's Birmingham side have only played two matches so far this season after their midweek fixture at Griffin Park was postponed to allow Brentford to relay the pitch.

The Blues opened up with a 2-1 win against Reading and were held to a 2-2 draw at Burnley last Saturday.

  70. Team news

    Derby County

    Derby County team

Derby boss Paul Clement makes four changes from the team which started the 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough.

Craig Forsyth replaces Stephen Warnock at left-back, right-back Cyrus Christie comes in for Jamie Hanson, Johnny Russell will play wide left in place of Jeff Hendrick and Darren Bent gets the nod up front ahead of Andreas Weimann.

  71. Team news

    Birmingham City

  72. Friday night at St Andrew's

Birmingham City v Derby County (19:45 BST)

Here we are, week three of the football season already.
