  1. FT: Leeds United 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

    Uwe Rosler

So it was honours even in the Yorkshire derby at Elland Road, with Leeds striker Chris Wood cancelling out a stunning first-half effort by Marco Matias.

    Read the match report here.

In the meantime, there's a busy afternoon of football ahead - follow it all with our live text service, where you can also watch Final Score and listen to BBC Radio 5 live's coverage.

  2. Player reaction

FT: Leeds United 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Leeds United striker Chris Wood told Sky Sports: "It was going to take something special for them to score because our back five were very solid.

"It's nice to be up and running but I would have traded in the goals for three points."

  3. Player reaction

FT: Leeds United 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday defender Tom Lees told Sky Sports: "I'm not surprised by Marco Matias' goal. He is a very good player and I've been impressed by him so far."

  4. FULL-TIME

    Leeds United 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

    Carlos Carvalhal

It ends 1-1 at Elland Road.

Marco Matias' beauty gave the visitors a half-time lead but Chris Wood's close-range finish saw Leeds get a deserved equaliser.

Four draws for Leeds to start the season. Wednesday are a point above them in the table.

  5. Leeds United 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Leeds find Chris Wood on the edge of the area but the striker is offside.

Starting to look like Leeds will be starting the season with four successive draws.

  6. Leeds United 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Chris Wood lets fly with a speculative effort from 30 yards that deflects off Sam Hutchinson and goes out for a Leeds corner.

Wednesday clear Alex Mowatt's delivery but the hosts force a second corner from the opposite side that Liam Cooper heads off target.

Into five minutes of stoppage time now.

  7. Leeds United 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Some concern for Leeds skipper Sol Bamba.

He's just receiving a bit of treatment after going down holding his head.

Meanwhile, Stuart Dalllas makes way for Souleymane Doukara for Leeds and Jose Semedo is replaced by Alex Lopez for the visitors.

  8. YELLOW CARD

    Leeds United 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

    Jeremy Helan

Owls substitute Jeremy Helan crashes into Luke Murphy and earns himself a place in the book.

  9. Leeds United 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

    Leeds well on top now.

Luke Murphy is just unable to send Stuart Dallas through on goal with a difficult pass from 30 yards out.

Ten minutes for either side to find a winner.

  10. Leeds United 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

    Marco Matias

The Owls bring on Jeremy Helan in place of goalscorer Marco Matias.

The Portuguese will be delighted to have got his first ever league goal in English football in such style.

  11. YELLOW CARD

    Leeds United 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Sam Hutchinson is booked for a handball about 30 yards from his own goal. That's his third of booking of the season and he's not happy about it.

Alex Mowatt curls the set piece straight into the arms of Wednesday keeper Lewis Price.

  12. Leeds United 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

So nearly a second goal of the day for Chris Wood.

He gets up wonderfully to meet Charlie Taylor's left-wing cross but his header drops a foot wide.

  13. Leeds United 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

The Owls have responded well to the Leeds goal and Liam Palmer sees a header saved by Marco Silvestri after the Wednesday defender had broken forward from full-back.

  14. Leeds United 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

    Chris Wood

On the balance of play, you'd have to say Leeds deserved their leveller.

The quality of both goals has been of the highest order, which is slightly out of keeping with what has generally been a quite scrappy match.

The visitors have taken off Modou Sougou for former Huddersfield man Jack Hunt.

  15. GOAL (Wood)

    Leeds United 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

    Lovely equaliser for the hosts.

Sol Bamba brings the ball out of defence and lays it off for Alex Mowatt, who feeds Stuart Dallas on the right hand side.

The Northern Irishman showed good skill to beat his man and roll a great ball across the face of the six-yard box that Chris Wood slides in to convert.

Two in two for the New Zealander now.

  16. Leeds United 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Wednesday defender Vincent Sasso needlessly heads a long ball to the edge of his area. Stuart Dallas' initial effort is charged down and Alex Mowatt skies the rebound.

  17. Leeds United 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Kieran Lee is adjudged to have felled Sam Byram on the right hand edge of the area but Kalvin Phillips wastefully bends the resultant free-kick into the side-netting.

That's his last act as Luke Murphy comes on in his place, while Byram is subbed off and Alex Mowatt is introduced.

Slightly surprised to see Byram being taken off.

  18. YELLOW CARD

    Leeds United 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Modou Sougou is in the book for a late challenge on Kalvin Phillips. No complaints from the Sheffield Wednesday man.

  19. Leeds United 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Leeds have made a bright start to the second period as they look to get back on level terms.

The game has really opened up since Marco Matias's goal.

  20. Leeds United 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Leeds get us back under way and win themselves a corner in the first 20 seconds.

From the resultant set piece Sol Bamba heads straight at Lewis Price in the Owls goal.

  21. Leeds United 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

    Tony Yeboah

Yesterday was the 20th anniversary of Tony Yeboah's glorious strike against Liverpool for Leeds at Elland Road.

Matias' goal might not quite have been at that breathtaking level but it wasn't far off.

Perhaps the Portuguese was inspired by the Ghanaian's effort?

  22. Post update

You can read match reports of every Football League game on the BBC Sport website later today, plus a special feature picking out some of the stories you might have missed from the day's Football League action.

  23. Austin among the goals?

QPR v Rotherham United (15:00 BST)

    Charlie Austin

QPR striker Charlie Austin will hope to continue his scoring streak at home to Rotherham this afternoon.

He's found the net in each of his side's last two Championship matches, including Wednesday's 3-2 comeback win at Wolves.

No club has yet matched Rangers' £15m valuation for Austin, who is a "snip" at that price, according to former team-mate Jermaine Jenas.

  24. Gray joins Burnley

    Burnley v Brentford (15:00 BST)

Speaking of which, Burnley have just tweeted this picture of their record signing arriving at Turf Moor this afternoon.

  25. A Gray day at Burnley?

    Burnley v Brentford (15:00 BST)

    Andre Gray

Andre Gray won't be involved on the field at Turf Moor this afternoon, but he'll be an interested spectator, as his new club Burnley host his old side Brentford.

The 24-year-old striker completed his move to the Clarets yesterday, with Burnley paying an undisclosed club-record fee believed to be in the region of £9m.

Sean Dyche's side, relegated from the Premier League last season, are yet to win in 2015-16.

  26. Still to come

This is the first of 11 Championship games taking place today.

While the players catch their breath at Elland Road, let's preview a couple of them.

Early pace-setters Ipswich travel to Deepdale to play Preston while there's an away date at Charlton for second-placed Hull.

Current bottom side Bolton host Nottingham Forest looking for their first win of the campaign and Fulham welcome Huddersfield with both teams looking for their first three points this season.

  27. HALF-TIME

    Leeds United 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

    Mirco Antenucci

The half comes to a close with Mirco Antenucci firing wildly over from the angle of the area.

The hosts haven't done a great deal wrong so far, but trail to an absolutely fantastic strike from Marco Matias.

It might only be August but you will have to go some way to see a finer goal than the Portuguese's dipping volley that just clipped the underside of the bar on it's way in.

  28. Leeds United 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

A big chance for Leeds to equalise just before the break.

Stuart Dallas cuts in from the left and his cross-shot flies wide, despite Chris Wood's attempts to divert it into the net with his knee or thigh.

  29. YELLOW CARD

    Leeds United 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Wednesday's ex-Leeds defender Tom Lees becomes the third name in the referee's book this afternoon.

The former England Under-21 international pulls back Mirco Antenucci as the Italian looks to breakaway after an Owls corner.

  30. Leeds United 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

It'll be interesting to see what Leeds have now as this is the first time they've found themselves behind in a game all season.

It has to be said they could be forgiven for being a bit shell shocked because, in the context of the game so far, that goal came from absolutely nowhere.

  31. GOAL (Matias)

    Leeds United 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

A goal from absolutely nowhere and it is a stunner for Sheffield Wednesday.

Liam Palmer plays a chipped ball forward from the right full-back position and Marco Matias beats the Leeds offside trap before flicking it over Liam Cooper's head and crashing in an unstoppable volley past Leeds keeper Marco Silvestri from 18 yards.

    Extraordinary.

    Marco Matias
  32. Leeds United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

    Modou Sougou

It's been some start to Modou Sougou's career at Sheffield Wednesday, although he's looked a little isolated on the right wing and hasn't seen too much of the ball thus far.

  33. Leeds United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Perhaps the best opening so far falls to Chris Wood but Tom Adeyemi's pass forces him just a touch too wide and he can't get a telling shot away as Wednesday clear their lines.

  34. Leeds United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

    Kalvin Phillips

Bit of a scrappy passage of play with neither team able to put their foot on the ball in any meaningful way.

It should be said that Leeds's teenage midfielder Kalvin Phillips has responded well to finding himself in the book inside a minute. He's kept his composure well since then.

  35. Leeds United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Wednesday midfielder Sam Hutchinson sends an angled 25-yarder high and wide before Mirco Antenucci hits a skidding volley just off target from distance at the other end.

The Leeds front two of Antenucci and Chris Wood looks like it could be promising.

  36. YELLOW CARD

    Leeds United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Second booking of the day and again it's gone to a Leeds player.

Gaetano Berardi throws himself with rather too much gusto into a header with Marco Matias and referee Mike Jones decides it warrants a yellow card.

  37. Leeds United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

    Chris Wood

No chances to speak of as yet for Leeds United's New Zealand international striker. It's been a fairly low-key start to this Yorkshire derby.

  38. Leeds United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Leeds have just sent a couple of long diagonals over to Sheffield Wednesday's left-hand side.

Sam Byram is unable to do a great deal with either of them but worth seeing if the hosts will stick with that tactic.

  39. Elsewhere today...

    Premier League action begins

    Sergio Romero

This isn't the only live football this lunchtime - in the Premier League, Manchester United are just about to kick off against Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

    Follow that game live here.

  40. Leeds United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

A mistake from Wednesday's Sam Hutchinson leads to a spell of Leeds pressure.

First Kalvin Phillips sees a shot from the edge of the area blocked before the hosts recycle the ball and Stuart Dallas thumps over from around 25 yards out.

  41. Leeds United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Marco Matias sends a low 25-yarder straight at home keeper Marco Silvestri after a good spell of possession football from the visitors.

They seemed to have settled the quicker of the two but it's very early days.

  42. Leeds United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday win an early corner but defender Tom Lees - playing against his former club - pokes it harmlessly over the bar at the near post.

  43. YELLOW CARD

    Leeds United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Silly from Kalvin Phillips and the young Leeds midfielder is in the book.

He loses possession on the halfway line and drags back Kieran Lee inside the first minute.

  44. KICK-OFF

    Leeds United 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

We are under way at Elland Road as the visitors get the ball rolling.

  45. Ready for kick-off

    Leeds United v Sheffield Wednesday

    Fans

There's sometimes a criticism that early games can lack a bit of atmosphere but you wouldn't expect that to be the case at Elland Road today.

We're just two minutes from kick-off... Hopefully the fans in the above picture have made their way to their seats by now. Nobody likes a latecomer.

  46. Join the debate at #bbcfootball

    Leeds United v Sheffield Wednesday

As always, you can get involved this afternoon by using #bbcfootball on Twitter.

Can Leeds get their first win of the season, or will the Owls take the points - and the Yorkshire bragging rights - back to Sheffield?

  47. Listen live on BBC local radio

    Leeds United v Sheffield Wednesday

Remember you can listen to the game live on BBC Radio Leeds or Radio Sheffield if you're lucky enough to live in either of those locales.

Unfortunately a rights issue means we're unable to stream the commentaries online but you can listen to both station's pre-match shows by clicking on the Live Coverage tab.

  48. Under pressure?

    Leeds United v Sheffield Wednesday

It's hard to to call any game in August a 'must win' fixture.

    Uwe Rosler

But when your chairman is Massimo Cellino and you've failed to win any of your first four matches this season, then it's fair to say Uwe Rosler will be aware that today's game could define how long he spends in the Elland Road hotseat.

Admittedly, Leeds are yet to taste defeat in the league but they'll be keen to get that first win of the season today, especially with Cellino watching on from the stands.

  49. BreakingTeam news

    Leeds United v Sheffield Wednesday

    Sheffield Wednesday team

Owls boss Carlos Carvalhal has made six changes to the team that needed a late leveller to draw at home with Reading on Wednesday.

Modou Sougou's reward for coming off the bench to score is a place in the starting XI while defender Glenn Loovens misses out with injury and is replaced by Vincent Sasso.

  50. BreakingTeam news

    Leeds United v Sheffield Wednesday

    Leeds team

Leeds make two changes to the side that snatched a draw from the jaws of victory at Bristol City on Wednesday.

Uwe Rosler's side led 2-0 going into the final minute but conceded two late goals to draw 2-2 at Ashton Gate.

Dropping out are defenders Giuseppe Bellusci and Scott Wootton and coming in are Gaetano Berardi and Liam Cooper.

  51. Time for sleeping giants to wake up?

    Leeds United v Sheffield Wednesday

To some, it doesn't feel like all that long ago that these Yorkshire rivals were locking horns in the Premier League.

    Des Walker and Alan Smith

In reality it's been (look away now Owls fans) over 15 years since this was a top flight fixture.

Both clubs have experienced more than their fair share of ups and downs, with an emphasis on the downs, since then.

But it's August, it's sunny and why can't these two old giants challenge for promotion this season?

Good afternoon and welcome to live text coverage of today's Championship fixture between Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday.
