  7. HITS THE WOODWORK

Eunan O'Kane's cross is volleyed into the ground by Marc Pugh and it bounces back off the crossbar with Costil Pantilimon beaten.

  10. Post update

Full-back Simon Francis is still running up and down that right for Bournemouth. He puts a lovely cross into the box but striker Glenn Murray is caught on his heels.

  11. YELLOW CARD

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Dan Gosling goes into the book for bringing down Adam Johnson.

Ola Toivanen can't reach Jeremain Lens's resulting free-kick. Ten minutes left to play.

  12. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Easy for Bournemouth at the moment, who look like closing the game out against 10-man Sunderland.

  13. SUBSTITUTION

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Callum Wilson's splendid afternoon comes to an end, he gets a rest and Glenn Murray comes on.

  14. RED CARD - Younes Kaboul

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

And there is the red card for Younes Kaboul.

The Frenchman goes for an early bath and will be relieved to get off the pitch. An ugly swipe at Callum Wilson.

    Younes Kaboul fouls Callum Wilson
  15. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Matt Ritchie fires a free-kick over the bar for Bournemouth. Just over 15 minutes to hang on for all three points.

  16. SUBSTITUTION

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Fabio Borini off, Adam Johnson on.

  17. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Billy Jones brings down Callum Wilson, but still no second booking. Lucky lad.

  18. SUBSTITUTION

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Sylvain Distin has done so well, Jermain Defoe has had enough. He comes off and on comes Steven Fletcher.

To be fair, it does look like the Englishman has taken a knock. That's because Distin has taken lumps out of him!

  19. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Sylvain Distin made his league debut for Bournemouth this afternoon, but looks like he has been there all his career. He has had a barnstorming match.

  20. SUBSTITUTION

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Into the last 25 minutes and Eddie Howe is refreshing his side.

Lee Tomlin, who has worked his socks off, gets a deserved round of applause and is substituted for Eunan O'Kane.

    Eddie Howe
  21. YELLOW CARD

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Yellow for Fabio Borini after illegally stopping Simon Francis's marauding run forward.

  22. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Jeremain Lens is the Sunderland man trying to galvanize his side. The Dutchman is getting in the faces of the Bournemouth players.

  23. CLOSE!

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

    OOOH!

Fabio Borini doing his best Matt Ritchie impression, chesting the ball down before volleying towards goal. But the Italian's strike has too much on it and it sails narrowly over the bar. Could have been a stunner.

    So near yet so far.

    Fabio Borini
  24. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Sunderland have improved in the second half but nothing to show for it on the scoreboard. Will Bournemouth hold strong, or can the away side nick a goal and make it a nervy half an hour for the home fans?

    Bournemouth v Sunderland
  25. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Sunderland need to keep going after that injustice, which I am sure Dick Advocaat will mention in his post-match interview.

  26. "Lens is level"

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

    Garth Crooks

    Final Score

"I think Lens is level and Sunderland have been treated harshly there. That was a perfectly good goal."

  27. DISALLOWED GOAL

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Jeremain Lens with a bullet header - from inside the six-yard box - into the corner which is ruled out for offside.

On replay, it seems harsh. He looks on to me.

  28. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Same pattern as the first half, as Bournemouth crank up the pressure. Billy Jones - on a yellow card - is lucky to still be on the pitch after bringing down Bournemouth man Charlie Daniels.

  29. SUBSTITUTION

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Back under way at the Vitality Stadium. Dick Advocaat makes a change - Jordi Gomez off and Jack Rodwell on.

  30. One to look out for on MOTD...

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

To be fair, this graphic does not come close to doing justice to Matt Ritchie's very special strike that put Bournemouth 2-0 up, but at least it gives you an idea of where he fired the ball into the top corner from.

You will have to watch Match of the Day tonight to appreciate the goal in full.

    Watford's 2nd goal
  31. HALF-TIME

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

No, Sunderland cannot. Callum Wilson's lovely effort and Matt Richie's super strike give Bournemouth a deserved half time lead.

  32. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Can Sunderland grab one before half-time?

  33. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

We should not play down Lee Tomlin's contribution in this match, he has worked his socks off so far and deserves a goal. The former Middlesbrough man flicks a beauty of a ball past Younes Kaboul, but the Frenchman recovers to clear.

  34. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

I wouldn't be surprised if Younes Kaboul is brought to tears after this game. Callum Wilson is giving him the runaround. The Sunderland skipper escapes a booking after bringing down the striker on the edge of the box.

Matt Ritchie's free-kick hits the wall and the Black Cats clear. Three minutes to half-time.

  35. CLOSE!

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Jermain Defoe misses a sitter! Cross from the right and his header from the six-yard box goes wide.

The flag was up anyway though.

  36. CLOSE!

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Chance for Jermain Defoe. The former England international is through on goal, but the ball gets stuck under his feet. He manages to squeeze a shot away, but Artur Boruc gets down quickly to save.

Bournemouth go to the other end, and Lee Tomlin's low strike from the edge of the area is straight at Costil Pantilimon.

  37. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

    OUCH!

Younes Kaboul's thunderous free-kick strikes Callum Wilson - in the wall - smack bang in his chest which has winded him. Maybe Kaboul was taking revenge for the first goal, where he was turned on inside the area and made to look very silly?

  38. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Ah, Jermain Defoe is playing, hadn't realised. He wins a free-kick in a dangerous position for Sunderland...

    Jermain Defoe
  39. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Costil Pantilimon kicks a clearance straight out of play, the panic in the Sunderland backline is evident, but can Bournemouth make the most of it? Believe me, a third goal for the home side in this game and three points is theirs.

Marc Pugh heads over a corner, having made a smart run into the box.

  40. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Nice football from Bournemouth who are up for this. They are putting in some intricate passing, making use of the powerful Callum Wilson. Two goals to the good and they are looking dangerous; they threaten a third but for some last-ditch defending.

  41. YELLOW CARD

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Sunderland full-back Billy Jones is booked for bringing down Charlie Daniels. This is going badly for Dick Advocaat's men so far. They are currently bottom of the table.

  42. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Home side on top, but it's really quiet inside the Vitality Stadium. You'd have thought there would be a party atmosphere with how their side are playing at the moment.

It may be because they know Sunderland still have plenty of time to come back into this game. Jeremain Lens whips in a cross which Artur Boruc easily claims.

    Bournemouth v Sunderland
  43. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Callum Wilson is really giving Sunderland stand-in skipper Younes Kaboul a torrid time this afternoon, using his strength to shield the ball before turning inside and out. The Frenchman has to concede a free-kick and further positive signs for the home side.

    Callum Wilson
  44. HITS THE WOODWORK

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Jordi Gomez whips in a low free-kick trying to catch out Artur Boruc at the front post. He nearly succeeds from a tight angle, hitting the post although the Polish stopper had it covered.

  45. YELLOW CARD

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

It gets worse for the visitors. Sebastian Coates is booked for hauling down the Bournemouth front man Callum Wilson. Walking on a tightrope for the rest of the game now. What are the odds on him seeing an early red?

  46. Post update

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Bournemouth look like scoring every time they go forward, the Sunderland backline is all over the place. Eddie Howe's men are in complete control of this game and we could get four or five here.

  47. "A great goal!"

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

    Garth Crooks

    Final Score

"Those are the sorts of goals that bring a smile to your face - a great goal!"

    Matt Ritchie
  48. Too easy?

    Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Bournemouth's second goal was a thing of beauty, and their first wasn't bad either. This is what it looked like, with Simon Francis and Dan Gosling combining to feed Callum Wilson.

Wilson now has five Premier League goals, and is probably thinking he can add to his tally after seeing some of Sunderland's defending so far.

    Bournemouth goal
  49. GOAL - Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

    Matt Ritchie

What an absolute beauty this is!!

And Bournemouth do extend their advantage in spectacular fashion. Scotland international Matt Ritchie is first to a headed clearance from a corner, chesting the ball into the air before volleying a left-footed effort into the top corner of the net.

What a goal, what a start!

    Matt Ritchie
  50. Post update

    Bournemouth 1-0 Sunderland

The home side are all over Sunderland at the moment. If they can get another quickly, this game could soon be over. The Black Cats defence is looking very, very nervous. Can Bournemouth extend their advantage?

  51. "This lad can do it!"

    Bournemouth 1-0 Sunderland

    Garth Crooks

    Final Score

"The way in which Wilson spins Kaboul is scary. He's a striker right on top of his game. If you're to be a forward in the Premier League you have to be able to play with your back to goal. This lad can do it."

You can enjoy analysis and reaction on Final Score via the Live Coverage tab at the top of this page.

  52. GOAL - Bournemouth 1-0 Sunderland

    Callum Wilson

    Well that didn't take long.

The first real push on the Sunderland defence and they concede.

Dan Gosling burst forward from midfield for Bournemouth, who feeds Callum Wilson on the edge of the area.

The big frontman turns Younes Kaboul with ease - having tried to nick in for the ball - before firing in a low finish past Costil Pantilimon. What a start from the home side.

    Callum Wilson celebrates
  53. Post update

    Bournemouth 0-0 Sunderland

Bournemouth moving the ball well early on, but pressure on a Sunderland defence containing Sebastian Coates and Younes Kaboul at the centre of it. No efforts on goal so far.

  54. KICK-OFF

    Bournemouth 0-0 Sunderland

    Lights out, go go go!

We are under way at the Vitality Stadium.

    Bournemouth v Sunderland (15:00 BST)

Teams are out going through the usual pre-match stuff. The sun on the south coast is shining, the pitch looks in pristine condition and the supporters are in fine voice.

Let's hope the football today is as glorious as the weather. Kick-off is a few minutes away.

  58. Jer-main man

    Bournemouth v Sunderland (15:00 BST)

    Defoe

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe had plenty of praise for former Cherries loanee Jermain Defoe, saying he is the best finisher he has worked with.

Howe was playing for Bournemouth in 2000-01 when Defoe scored 18 goals in 27 starts in the old Division Two.

Bournemouth host Defoe's Sunderland on Saturday and are yet to record a home win or a clean sheet in their maiden season in the top flight.

"We don't want to give him any chances because he is the best finisher that I have worked with," Howe said.

  59. Post update

    Bournemouth v Sunderland (15:00 BST)

Since staying up, Sunderland have forgotten to get out of bed, but we all know how this ends.

Struggle all season, then put a run together in April before clinging on to survive.

    Easy.

In case you missed the team news earlier, Sunderland skipper John O'Shea misses out today through illness.

  61. MOTD commentator's verdict

    Bournemouth v Sunderland (15:00 BST)

    Jonathan Pearce

    BBC football commentator

"Bournemouth need to get their first home victory quickly, and must win games like this if they're to stay up.

"It's Dick Advocaat's 900th managerial game. He won't make it to 950 with Sunderland unless they improve rapidly. This is a gritty day for both sides.

"Injuries to Max Gradel and Tyrone Mings have hit the Cherries hard. They were exposed at Norwich. But the astute signing of Glenn Murray will help Callum Wilson. Both will score regularly.

"If Yann M'Vila gets to grips with midfield and Jermain Defoe scores, Sunderland can grab a point. It's a big if - they're shocking away and it'll be an historic home win for me."

    Dick Advocaat
  62. Team news

    Bournemouth v Sunderland (15:00 BST)

Captain Tommy Elphick misses out for  Bournemouth  so veteran Premier League defender Sylvain Distin comes in. Lee Tomlin comes back into the side to partner Callum Wilson up front.

Sunderland  make one change to the side that lost against Tottenham last week as John O'Shea misses out through illness, with Sebastian Coates coming in.

  63. A fight for survival

Bournemouth were tipped to go straight back down in their debut top flight season, while Sunderland were expected to struggle...and are doing so.

Three go down to the Championship in May, so you would expect one or both of these sides to perish.

Preserving their Premier League status will be as good as a trophy for these two at the end of the season.

    Welcome to survival Saturday.
