To be fair, this graphic does not come close to doing justice to Matt Ritchie's very special strike that put Bournemouth 2-0 up, but at least it gives you an idea of where he fired the ball into the top corner from.

No, Sunderland cannot. Callum Wilson's lovely effort and Matt Richie's super strike give Bournemouth a deserved half time lead.

Can Sunderland grab one before half-time?

We should not play down Lee Tomlin's contribution in this match, he has worked his socks off so far and deserves a goal. The former Middlesbrough man flicks a beauty of a ball past Younes Kaboul, but the Frenchman recovers to clear.

I wouldn't be surprised if Younes Kaboul is brought to tears after this game. Callum Wilson is giving him the runaround. The Sunderland skipper escapes a booking after bringing down the striker on the edge of the box. 

Matt Ritchie's free-kick hits the wall and the Black Cats clear. Three minutes to half-time.

Jermain Defoe misses a sitter! Cross from the right and his header from the six-yard box goes wide.

Chance for Jermain Defoe.The former England international is through on goal, but the ball gets stuck under his feet. He manages to squeeze a shot away, but Artur Boruc gets down quickly to save.

Bournemouth go to the other end, and Lee Tomlin's low strike from the edge of the area is straight at Costil Pantilimon.

Younes Kaboul's thunderous free-kick strikes Callum Wilson - in the wall - smack bang in his chest which has winded him. Maybe Kaboul was taking revenge for the first goal, where he was turned on inside the area and made to look very silly?

Ah, Jermain Defoe is playing, hadn't realised. He wins a free-kick in a dangerous position for Sunderland...

Costil Pantilimon kicks a clearance straight out of play, the panic in the Sunderland backline is evident, but can Bournemouth make the most of it? Believe me, a third goal for the home side in this game and three points is theirs.

Marc Pugh heads over a corner, having made a smart run into the box.

Nice football from Bournemouth who are up for this. They are putting in some intricate passing, making use of the powerful Callum Wilson. Two goals to the good and they are looking dangerous; they threaten a third but for some last-ditch defending.

Sunderland full-back Billy Jones is booked for bringing down Charlie Daniels. This is going badly for Dick Advocaat's men so far. They are currently bottom of the table.

Home side on top, but it's really quiet inside the Vitality Stadium. You'd have thought there would be a party atmosphere with how their side are playing at the moment.

It may be because they know Sunderland still have plenty of time to come back into this game. Jeremain Lens whips in a cross which Artur Boruc easily claims.

Callum Wilson is really giving Sunderland stand-in skipper Younes Kaboul a torrid time this afternoon, using his strength to shield the ball before turning inside and out. The Frenchman has to concede a free-kick and further positive signs for the home side.

Jordi Gomez whips in a low free-kick trying to catch out Artur Boruc at the front post. He nearly succeeds from a tight angle, hitting the post although the Polish stopper had it covered.

YELLOW CARD

It gets worse for the visitors. Sebastian Coates is booked for hauling down the Bournemouth front man Callum Wilson. Walking on a tightrope for the rest of the game now. What are the odds on him seeing an early red?

Bournemouth look like scoring every time they go forward, the Sunderland backline is all over the place. Eddie Howe's men are in complete control of this game and we could get four or five here.

Too easy?

Bournemouth's second goal was a thing of beauty, and their first wasn't bad either. This is what it looked like, with Simon Francis and Dan Gosling combining to feed Callum Wilson.

Wilson now has five Premier League goals, and is probably thinking he can add to his tally after seeing some of Sunderland's defending so far.

And Bournemouth do extend their advantage in spectacular fashion. Scotland international Matt Ritchie is first to a headed clearance from a corner, chesting the ball into the air before volleying a left-footed effort into the top corner of the net.

Well that didn't take long.

The first real push on the Sunderland defence and they concede.

Dan Gosling burst forward from midfield for Bournemouth, who feeds Callum Wilson on the edge of the area.

The big frontman turns Younes Kaboul with ease - having tried to nick in for the ball - before firing in a low finish past Costil Pantilimon. What a start from the home side.

Let's hope the football today is as glorious as the weather. Kick-off is a few minutes away.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe had plenty of praise for former Cherries loanee Jermain Defoe, saying he is the best finisher he has worked with.

Howe was playing for Bournemouth in 2000-01 when Defoe scored 18 goals in 27 starts in the old Division Two.

Bournemouth host Defoe's Sunderland on Saturday and are yet to record a home win or a clean sheet in their maiden season in the top flight.

"We don't want to give him any chances because he is the best finisher that I have worked with," Howe said.

"It's Dick Advocaat's 900th managerial game. He won't make it to 950 with Sunderland unless they improve rapidly. This is a gritty day for both sides.

"Injuries to Max Gradel and Tyrone Mings have hit the Cherries hard. They were exposed at Norwich. But the astute signing of Glenn Murray will help Callum Wilson. Both will score regularly.

"If Yann M'Vila gets to grips with midfield and Jermain Defoe scores, Sunderland can grab a point. It's a big if - they're shocking away and it'll be an historic home win for me."

Captain Tommy Elphick misses out for  Bournemouth  so veteran Premier League defender Sylvain Distin comes in. Lee Tomlin comes back into the side to partner Callum Wilson up front.

Sunderland  make one change to the side that lost against Tottenham last week as John O'Shea misses out through illness, with Sebastian Coates coming in.  

A fight for survival

Bournemouth were tipped to go straight back down in their debut top flight season, while Sunderland were expected to struggle...and are doing so.

Three go down to the Championship in May, so you would expect one or both of these sides to perish.

Preserving their Premier League status will be as good as a trophy for these two at the end of the season.
