  1. FT: Rotherham 1-2 Burnley

A great game for the neutrals but Rotherham fans might feel rather hard done by after they valiantly battled back to equalise, only to see a point slip away thanks to Sam Vokes.

Gary Smee's match report from tonight's game can be found here.

We'll be back again on Saturday afternoon for more Championship live text commentary when Wolves take on Huddersfield (12:30 BST kick-off).

Until then thank you for joining us and goodnight.

Burnley striker Sam Vokes told Sky Sports:

"It's a tough place to come and they've put some good results together here but it's great to get three points.

"It's going to be tight up there, we know how strong this league is and it's great to get the points on the board tonight."

  3. FT: Rotherham 1-2 Burnley

Burnley striker Andre Gray told Sky Sports:

"It was always going to be a tough game with Rotherham losing their manager and all their players had a lot to prove.

"It was even tougher when they got a goal back but we managed to nick it in the end.

"We have a long way to go with a lot of the season left."

    Rotherham 1-2 Burnley

Well that's that and Burnley have taken all three points from the New York Stadium - their first win away at Rotherham since January 1993.

After George Boyd and Andre Gray combined to give Burnley a ninth-minute lead, Grant Ward restored parity in superb fashion with a fantastic strike.

Sean Dyche's men produced a fantastic response but Lee Camp will feel unlucky to concede a scrappy goal so soon afterwards.

Burnley move up to third whilst Rotherham slip a place to 21st.

    Rotherham 1-2 Burnley

Joey Barton looks like he's in some discomfort as he tangles with Jonson Clarke-Harris, who is booked. Welcome back to the Championship, Joey.

Danny Ward taps the ball wide of Tom Heaton's post as the official puts up the board. Four more minutes for Rotherham to get something out of this match.

After Scott Arfield strikes straight at Rotherham keeper Lee Camp, the ball falls to Sam Vokes who pounces to poke the ball home from close range, much to the delight of the 1,595 travelling Burnley fans.

Rotherham have 10 minutes to find another equaliser.

Rotherham make their third and final change after the equaliser. Kirk Broadfoot comes on in place of Farrend Rawson.

Burnley also bring on Matthew Taylor for George Boyd.

  11. Rotherham 1-1 Burnley

What a goal from Grant Ward. It's only 2 October but that is an absolute wonder strike and a worthy contender for goal of the month.

The Millers man unleashes a tremendous strike from long range that curls home and Tom Heaton can't stop it going in.

    Amazing scenes.

  12. GOAL (Grant Ward)

    Rotherham 1-1 Burnley

    Rotherham 0-1 Burnley

Finally, a rather relieved Eric Black makes the first change of the game and it's a double substitution. Tony Andreu and Joe Newell make way for Danny Ward and Chris Maguire.

Rotherham have a couple of substitutes waiting to come on but the ball has not been out of play for about five minutes!

Matt Derbyshire is incensed as he's cynically pushed to the ground by Michael Keane who goes absolutely nowhere near the ball.Burnley's centre back is lucky not to receive a yellow card of his own there.

    Rotherham 0-1 Burnley

Rotherham's Danny Collins receives the first caution of the game after he pulls back goalscorer Andre Gray.

That's as blatant as they come.

Joey Barton lets fly from just past the centre circle and the ball falls to Scott Arfield who tries his luck but his effort goes wide of the mark. Burnley looking more comfortable as they've eased into the second half.

  18. Rotherham 0-1 Burnley

A defensive mix up from Tendayi Darikwa allows Jonson Clarke-Harris to send the ball into the Burnley area to Tony Andreu but Joey Barton clears the danger brilliantly.

Burnley have the former QPR and Newcastle man to thank for keeping their one goal lead.

  19. Rotherham 0-1 Burnley

Those Burnley fans will certainly be encouraged by what they've seen so far.

  20. Rotherham 0-1 Burnley

A quiet opening five minutes to the second half, short of any real efforts on goal. Both sides sizing each other up it appears.

And it's Burnley who get us under way in this second half.

  22. Rotherham 0-1 Burnley

  24. HT: Rotherham 0-1 Burnley

The stats show even possession in the first half, but it's Burnley who have had the best of the chances.

They've also go that all important goal.

I wonder what Eric Black will be saying to the Rotherham players in his first half-time team talk?

    Rotherham Burnley Stats

    Rotherham 0-1 Burnley

Football's a funny old game, isn't it? A rather deceiving scoreline at the break as Burnley could be about 3-0 up but that's not to say the hosts have disgraced themselves at all. Ever since Andre Gray broke the deadlock after nine minutes, Rotherham have fought to get themselves back into the game.

We could be in for an exciting second half in south Yorkshire.

  26. Rotherham 0-1 Burnley

Tom Heaton is called into action as a long ball works its way to Matt Derbyshire who strikes from the edge of the 18 yard line, but the Burnley keeper parries it away for a corner. Rotherham have not sat back despite conceding early on and will definitely go into the dressing room feeling they can still get something tonight.

  27. Rotherham 0-1 Burnley

    Andre Gray

David Jones delivers a free kick into the Rotherham box which is cleared and the hosts are awarded one of their own as jeers ring around the New York Stadium. It's calmed down a bit as we approach half time but can the hosts find an equaliser?

Moments later, the hosts break and at the other end, Joe Newell shoots wide. Game on!

  30. Rotherham 0-1 Burnley

Eric Black will be fairly encouraged by the effort he's seen from his Rotherham side since they went a goal down.

But they're struggling to create anything clear cut. That will be the main concern.

It's summed up by Tony Andreu who gets into a good crossing position but can't find anyone in the box.

    Eric Black

Tendayi Darikwa runs from midfield unopposed and unleashes a low strike which takes a deflection but Rotherham keeper Lee Camp is on hand to save.

Joey Barton concedes a free kick as he brings down Jonson Clarke-Harris but Tony Andreu fires well wide of the post.

  34. Rotherham 0-1 Burnley

Jonson Clarke-Harris chases Lewis Buxton's long ball and wins a corner which rebounds to Tottenham loanee Grant Ward, but his effort from 18 yards goes wide of Tom Heaton's post. Rotherham asking a lot of questions of Burnley here but as yet, they can't find a breakthrough.

  35. Rotherham 0-1 Burnley

Not the ideal start for Eric Black but Rotherham recover and Matt Derbyshire beats Michael Duff in the Burnley box to glance Tony Andreu's cross towards goal.

    Rotherham v Burnley (19:45 BST)

Good evening and welcome football fans! Tonight’s match sees Rotherham United take on Burnley for the first time at the New York Stadium.

Can managerless Rotherham make it three wins in a row or will Burnley move up to third in the Championship table?

The Clarets will be searching for their first away win against Rotherham since January 1993. Sean Dyche’s side have scored just three away goals this season, the fifth fewest in the league so far.

Which way is this one going to swing? Kick-off is about 15 minutes away...
