Farewell

Come back for MOTD social

We will leave you tonight with this. The ball placed on the bar at the very end of injury time. Cheikhou Kouyate headed against the woodwork.

So what will that mean? Could it be the point to win Manchester City the title? You never know.

Andrew Priestley: Dimitri Payet will take all the plaudits in this West Ham side, but Alex Song is the engine behind it all. He was immense.

West Ham 2-2 Man City

What about Dimitri Payet, social media is in meltdown as praise comes in for the West Ham man.

He played two key passes and lost the ball 10 times. Arguably better than David Silva on this showing then.

West Ham 2-2 Man City

A little look through our stats system here shows David Silva was perhaps at not his imperious best today.

David Silva

One key pass (yellow) but he gave the ball away 13 times. Uncharacteristic for the little magician.

Manager reaction

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic speaking to BBC Sport:

"It was a great game of football. I'm so proud of our team and Man City. There was everything in it. Four goals, chances, yellow cards and a penalty.

"We were a little bit disappointed but I said to the players they shouldn't be. But if you are disappointed after playing Man City then that's good.

"We defended well and created many chances.

"I didn't see the penalty - from here it looked soft, but I was far, far away. It looked like a red for City player Martin Demichelis, but I'd like to see it again.

"We hit the post at the end, but they hit the post twice. If it wasn't for Joe Hart in goal then Dimitri Payet's free-kick would have been in."

Manager reaction

West Ham 2-2 Man City

Man City manager Manuel Pellegrini on Sky Sports:

"It [a draw] was not what we wanted before the game. If you analyse the whole game we had two or three clear chances. It was a difficult game - I was not happy the way we conceded the second goal.

"It was a close game for both teams and a good game for both sets of fans. It was end to end because both teams play in an attacking way.

"Sergio Aguero played very well and scored. I think he is 100% again. Vincent Kompany needs a couple of weeks more."

Hammers improved

This is the first Premier League season since 2002/03 that West Ham have remained unbeaten against Man City.

'We can compete with anyone'

West Ham 2-2 Man City

West Ham midfielder Mark Noble on Sky Sports:

"They're a top, top team. A little bit of luck went their way for the second goal. Against a team like that you have to be proud of a point, but I'm a little bit gutted.

"We can compete with anyone when we play like that and we showed that tonight."

'City win would have been unfair'

West Ham 2-2 Man City

Man City keeper Joe Hart on BBC Sport:

"That save did feel good from Dimitri Payet. I had to move my feet quickly. It was a great game of football. I thought it was a brilliant game. They played football. It was great the way Enner Valencia was attacking.

"Sergio Aguero is a killer - even though he is not at the standard he says is his best, he's still scoring. We've come from behind. A draw was a fair result, a West Ham win would not have been unfair. A City win would have been unfair."

Premier League table
.

Leicester City fans, the floor remains yours for the night.

Arsenal take on Chelsea tomorrow. And we will not overlook Tottenham. Some win today and they are still in there.

West Ham 2-2 Man City

So was that a fair take on proceedings? What are your thoughts.

Possession quite even, not too much to choose on the shot count.

Is it enough from Manchester City though? Could be a costly weekend if Arsenal win tomorrow, Leicester won today of course.

Jonathan Cowley: If you can't win don't lose I guess. Iheanacho made a difference. Sergio magic again. Payet is some player.

'Really entertaining'

West Ham 2-2 Man City

Steve Brown

Former West Ham reserve-team coach on BBC Radio London

"Well that was an unbelievable delivery from Payet, an unbelievable arrival from Kouyate and Hart didn’t come but it has hit the bar. It has been a really entertaining game."

FULL-TIME

West Ham 2-2 Man City

Sergio Aguero
.

Deep breaths. A fine display packed with guts by West Ham. Manchester City will look to a sloppy second goal for the home side as the creation of a mountain they almost climbed.

Sergio Aguero is Sergio Aguero again. That's ominous in this title race but there is still something vulnerable about Manuel Pellegrini's side.

HITS THE WOODWORK

West Ham 2-2 Man City

The last attack. West ham free-kick from inside the Manchester City half. It will be Mark Noble to cross. In it comes and Cheikhou Kouyate leaps... OFF THE BAR.

Wow. What a finish to a fabulous game of football. The last attack and his header clattered the top of the frame. Joe Hart looked beaten, City take a point.

CLOSE!

West Ham 2-2 Man City

Sam Byram is a target now, he can barely move at right-back. It's the other flank under siege here though and Kevin de Bruyne will shoot will he? No, find defending by Winston Reid.

City come again, the ball drops for SERGIO AGUERO... straight at Adrian who falls on the ball. Not the man you want to see linking up a shot at the death.

West Ham 2-2 Man City

Kevin de Bruyne pierces the home defence but his pass has too much fizz for Raheem Sterling who takes a heavy touch.

Sam Byram - on his West Ham debut - has cramp. Welcome to the Premier League chief. He can barely even hobble off.

YELLOW CARD

West Ham 2-2 Man City

Yaya Toure into the book for a late tackle. Is there any drama to be had late on? Mark Noble again crosses for Nikica Jelavic but Nicolas Otamendi rises to head away. Joe Hart was bouncing nervously on his line there.

Three added minutes. Remember, West Ham have lost just once in 10 outings.

West Ham 2-2 Man City

Mark Noble finds a crossing position. The guy has covered every blade of grass. In comes the ball, low, Nikica Jelavic will attack it but gets beaten to the bounce... corner. What a finish, what a day in the Premier League.

In comes the whipped ball, Jelavic again... can't turn it on goal and it's hacked clear.

Match of the Day tonight deserves your attention. Some day.

West Ham 2-2 Man City

It's now the away side with energy as Enner Valencia departs with a forlorn look on his face. He's scored two, he could look a little more enthused.

Yaya Toure just blasted a shot which took a full body to block. It would have felled an elephant. Proper power.

West Ham 2-2 Man City

Sergio Aguero has hit braces in back to back Premier League games for the first time since April 2012.

Aguero's equaliser 'unjust'

West Ham 2-2 Man City

Steve Brown

Former West Ham reserve-team coach on BBC Radio London

“It is very unfortunate. It has come from a challenge and the ball bobbles out and just feeds it straight into the path of Aguero.

“It has not come through good play it has come through some very fortunate circumstances. It is unjust.”

West Ham 2-2 Man City

Man City score
.

Bingo for Manchester City and credit must go to Kelechi Iheanacho who fresh from the bench, makes a right nuisance of himself in the box.

The result is a bouncing ball for Sergio Aguero, middle of the box, 10 yards out. You know what happens from there.

As the ball nestles in the bottom corner he is angered at the fact he can't retrieve the ball to race back to the halfway line. City are back, just when they looked a little drained.

City 'not been at it'

West Ham 2-1 Man City

Steve Brown

Former West Ham reserve-team coach on BBC Radio London

"The one thing I say about Man City is they have not been at it. They don’t look like this killer outfit at the minute."

West Ham 2-1 Man City

Raheem Sterling inside the area, left side, he'll try to forge crossing space and does... LOW ACROSS THE SIX-YARD BOX.... well held Adrian. Brave to dive low where the boots are flying in.

Liz Tray: City's creative 3 - KDB, Toure, Silva - just haven't performed today at all. Not a single chance created of note.

West Ham 2-1 Man City

A look at West Ham's average positions shows us how close together the midfield three of Mark Noble (16), Alex Song (4) and Cheikhou Kouyate (8) have played.

It's disrupted their visitors for sure. You can also see how Aaron Cresswell (3) is an outlet at left back.

Dimitri Payet (27) is nice and close to Enner Valencia (11).

The key thing now is that this shape does not drop too deep.

West Ham
.

West Ham 2-1 Man City

Mark Noble has run 9.64km as we speak. He is the only player out there to have covered more than 9km.

West Ham 2-1 Man City

Enner Valencia and Dimitri Payet almost pull off a one-two which would have seen Valencia with a chance for a hat-trick. It looks like Kelechi Iheanacho is coming on for City.

Toure disappointing

West Ham 2-1 Man City

Steve Brown

Former West Ham reserve-team coach on BBC Radio London

"I am not having Toure today at all. He is not influential on the ball and not getting up into the box."

CLOSE!

West Ham 2-1 Man City

Yaya Toure tries to orchestrate from deep. He calls Nicolas Otamendi forward. A ball down the line to Bacary Sagna who digs out a cross and Sergio Aguero's header is flicked wide. A great effort, a fantastic leap at the near post but he just glanced it a little too much.

West Ham 2-1 Man City

An offside flag frustrates Sergio Aguero as he eyes a long ball. A brief tantrum from the City scorer.

West Ham 2-1 Man City

Victor Moses duels with Raheem Sterling - two ex-Liverpool men. Sterling fouls his man and the home fans cheer the whistle.

There are questions to be asked of City here. Just not enough on show. A title-winning side would probably grind something out here.

West Ham's game to lose

West Ham 2-1 Man City

Steve Brown

Former West Ham reserve-team coach on BBC Radio London

"We have seen chances at both ends, but I would say this is West Ham’s game to lose because they are carving out chances."

Valencia on form

Enner Valencia has now scored as many goals in his last three Premier League appearances. That's his best three-game run since joining the club.
