  2. Manager reaction

    Chelsea 1-1 Man Utd

Chelsea boss Gus Hiddink, speaking to BBC Sport: "Manchester United started very well. They stretched the field to play and we dropped back too far.

"We started to get more of a grip on the game and got some counters. They scored a beautiful goal but our team reacted very well to that.

"We are still unbeaten but we have too many draws. I am happy with the way the team reacted.

    "Both goalies made tremendous saves."

  3. Manager reaction

    Chelsea 1-1 Man Utd

More from Gus Hiddink, this time on Kurt Zouma's injury: "I am not a doctor but he will have an MRI scan tomorrow. If you see the images it is hyperextension, let us wait and hope.

On how high Chelsea can finish: "When I arrived we were one point above the relegation zone and now are climbing up. To finish fourth is almost impossible but we still have the FA Cup and Champions League, so we are still ambitious.

On Costa: "Costa is a good guy. I observe him, when he is not on the pich and he is involved with everyone, from the kit man to the people in the kitchen so that means he is a good guy.

Asked if he would want John Terry at the club next season, he added: "It is if if. I am not going to speculate."

  4. High praise

  5. Post update

Guus Hiddink repeatedly says that Diego Costa is a good guy off the pitch. Almost too many times...

  6. Post update

An interesting point from Thibaut Courtois. Does Chelsea's focus switch almost entirely to the cups now? They are not going to go down so does it make any difference if they finish 15th or ninth?

  7. Player reaction

    Chelsea 1-1 Man Utd

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, speaking to BBC Sport: "You don't want to lose the game. When we scored we had some good chances. It was a good draw. We wanted to win but you have to take what you can.

"For the confidence of the team it is important - that we can fight back against teams like Manchester United.

"The first half until their goal was more me making saves but towards the end it was towards their side.

"If you see how many points we are behind the top four it is difficult so we have to try for the top 7 or 8 but the most important thing is the FA Cup and Champions League and to try and reach the final."

  8. 'We deserved a point'

    Chelsea 1-1 Man Utd

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink, speaking to Sky Sports: "I am happy with the reaction of the team. Manchester United did a good job in the first half and in the beginning of the second, they are not an easy team to beat. But we deserved a point. We dropped too far back after the first 20 minutes when they dominated us but later on we closed a little more. They made a beautiful goal - without good marking from our side - but after I think the team reacted very well."

On Kurt Zouma's injury: "Tomorrow we know more, but if you have this injury - and everyone has seen how bad it is - hyper-extension is always bad. I had this same problem once and it hurts. But let's hope and see tomorrow what the MRIs will show."

Alan, Manchester: LvG starts to turn a corner and once again goes straight on! Bizarre decision to bring the out of form and worse retainer of possession at United Depay on.

A measured response from Guus Hiddink when asked about Kurt Zouma's injury: "I am not a doctor, let's see tomorrow."

  12. 'It's not a lack of concentration'

    Chelsea 1-1 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal, speaking to BBC Sport: "I feel we didn't reward ourselves with a victory because we were the better team. Until the last quarter we played very well and could have scored more goals but you have to control the game better and we did not do that.

"It isn't a lack of concentration it is not being composed when you are defending. When we have the ball we have to keep the ball. We don't have to score.

"You need to give the right pass at the right moment and we did not do that [before Chelsea scored]. Chelsea are a very good team and you play like we played and don't reward yourself, it is frustrating.

"I cannot say I am disappointed about the performance, I am disappointed in the result. It is a big difference.

"When you want to be in the top three, which is our aim, you have to win these kind of games. The gap is growing and growing and that is not good. When you see this match you can only say we deserved to win, but we didn't win and it is happening a lot of times.

"We cannot afford it [lapses in concentration]."

  13. 'The gap is now bigger so that's not good'

    Chelsea 1-1 Man Utd

    Manchester United

More from Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, speaking to Sky Sports: "When your aim is to be third or second or first then you need to win because the gap is already big. The gap is now bigger than before so that's not good.

"The equaliser we conceded is also defensive organisation, you have to be composed and then you can play them out, not kicking the ball away. And then all the free-kicks. I don’t think all the fouls were free-kicks but this referee gave a lot of free-kicks at the end of the game. The [injury] time was already over, the six minutes, and then he let [Chelsea] kick the corner and when we had a free pitch for us he whistles.

"He did that also in the first half. I think you cannot do that. Otherwise, you don’t let him kick the corner, because I don't think that is fair for two teams."

Reward yourselves, people. That's the message.

Louis van Gaal is also frustrated at an English team's inability to keep possession. (Belated) welcome to England!

  15. 'We don't reward ourselves'

    Chelsea 1-1 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, speaking to Sky Sports: "Deep frustration because we were the better team. Again. And we didn’t win. We had the better chances but we didn't win.

"We played a superb game until the last quarter. Then we did not keep the ball in the way I think we have to. Then, we were unlucky and we get a goal against us. It is unbelievable. We don’t reward ourselves.

"This is also because Chelsea is pushing with long balls and more aggression but nevertheless you have to keep the ball and be composed when you defend; you are not kicking the ball way without any meaning. Also we could have scored again after the first goal but you don’t reward yourselves. When you play such a game against a team like Chelsea, you have to reward yourself."

  20. 'We played with confidence'

    Chelsea 1-1 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United defender Daley Blind, speaking to BBC Sport: "Of course we are disappointed. The late goal was disappointing but I think overall we played a good game. They were stronger for the last 15 minutes but overall we can be happy with our play.

"We played with a lot of confidence. We passed the ball quickly from side to side but we had some things we can work on.

"It is a crazy league but we have to look to ourselves, game-by-game."
