Match reaction
FT: Birmingham 1-0 Hull
Birmingham striker Clayton Donaldson tells Sky Sports: "It's a massive result. We slipped up last week so it was vital we got the result and kept in there."
On his overhead kick: "I caught it clean and I thought it was a goal, but the keeper's made a good save. A 1-0 win - we'll take that all day."
FULL-TIME: Birmingham 1-0 Hull
Victory for Birmingham City!
Blues move within a point of the top six, while Hull remain second and miss the chance to go top.
Jon Toral's first-half goal proved to be the difference.
Birmingham 1-0 Hull
Into three added minutes at a wet St Andrew's, Blues are into Hull territory. More excellent chasing by Clayton Donaldson earns a throw-in midway inside the visitors' half.
Birmingham 1-0 Hull
Jon Toral wants a second goal and works the ball onto his left foot, but the Blues forward shoots straight at Hull goalkeeper Allan McGregor.
"Keep Right On" sing the home fans. They're close to a big, big victory.
Birmingham 1-0 Hull
Another shot on the Birmingham goal, but Tomasz Kuszczak makes a comfortable save from Robert Snodgrass' tame attempt.
Two minutes and extras to play.

Birmingham 1-0 Hull
Ooh, a good chance to break missed by Birmingham.
Blues defended manfully once more under a wave of amber and black pressure, and had a man spare as Jacques Maghoma brought the ball clear, but he wasted his pass to Clayton Donaldson.
Birmingham 1-0 Hull
If you weren't with me earlier, you might have missed Clayton Donaldson's superb overhead kick, which almost produced one of the goals of the season.
Here it is in pictorial form.
Back on the field, seven minutes left and Birmingham still 1-0 up thanks to a first-half goal from Jon Toral. They earn a free-kick on halfway to eat some more seconds.
Nightmare away trips
Birmingham 1-0 Hull
Time is running out for Hull to salvage something tonight.
Their fans can at least take some comfort from the fact that tonight's match is not likely to rank alongside some of the memories you've been sending into me over the past hour or so.

Birmingham 1-0 Hull
How have Hull not scored there?
Well, outstanding Birmingham defending for one. Abel Hernandez and Sam Clucas see shots blocked and Hull have a corner. Should probably have been the equaliser.
Birmingham 1-0 Hull
Birmingham, despite their lofty position in the table, are on course for only their second win in six league outings. They'd only scored two goals in their previous five games before tonight.
SUBSTITUTION
Birmingham 1-0 Hull
Birmingham make their first change. David Cotterill, a winger, is replaced by David Davis, who is primarily a defensive midfielder. It will be interesting to see how they line up now. Like for like, or more solid in midfield?
Hull take off Moses Odubajo and bring on Ahmed Elmohamady - that's their final change.

Birmingham 1-0 Hull
Birmingham goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak makes a fine double save from Robert Snodgrass and Sam Clucas to keep the hosts ahead.
Hull have hit the woodwork twice in this match, but it's probably the first time he's been called upon to make a stop.
Birmingham 1-0 Hull
There have been some exceptional managerial performances this season, and plenty of examples of teams overcoming the odds to have successful campaigns.
Birmingham manager Gary Rowett is very high on that list. Blues will be a point outside the top six if they hold on to win here.
David Cotterill tries to score a second for the hosts on the counter-attack, but his effort skims wide of the far post.
Birmingham 1-0 Hull
Tom Garry
BBC Sport at St Andrew's
"There can't be a better centre-back pairing in any second-tier side in Europe than Hull's. Surely going up, whatever happens tonight."
It's all about their front players now. Can they fashion an equaliser that would take the Tigers back to the top of the Championship?
