  2. 'Torres red card was crucial'

    Barcelona 2-1 Atletico Madrid

    Barcelona matchwinner Luis Suarez

Luis Suárez, Barcelona forward: "The important thing is that we won and now they have to score at the Vicente Calderón. [Fernando] Torres’s red card was crucial because everyone knows about the quality he has. He made two fouls. It was a shame because it would have been great to comeback against 11 players."

  3. Player reaction

    Barcelona 2-1 Atletico Madrid

    Javier Mascherano celebrates

Barcelona's Javier Mascherano on BT Sport: "It was important to win. Obviously, we had chances to score some more goals but it's important to win at home against a team that's strong in defence. We know we have to go to Madrid to do our work.

"We'll try to do the same as we did in the second half. The second half is the way to try to find the semi-final. I think we had some clear chances to score, but the main target before the game was to win. We have the quality to do a great game and get through to the semi-final."

On the sending off of his former Liverpool team-mate Fernando Torres: "I don't have an opinion. The referee tries to do their best."

  4. Two's up

  6. Post update

Atletico Madrid left-back Filipe Luis speaking to BT Sport: "It is not easy to play against Barcelona in the Champions League. We know it is really dangerous if they go out in the quarter-finals."

  7. Post update

If you read really closely between the lines from Filipe Luis there you may get a slight sense of injustice...

  8. 'We are still alive'

    Barcelona 2-1 Atletico Madrid

Filipe Luis and Arda Turan at full-time

Atletico Madrid defender Filipe Luis on BT Sport: "Awful. It could have been worse but a lot better too. It was a totally unfair red card, his second foul and his second yellow. We knew that was going to happen, Barcelona in the Champions League. We have to play against everybody and everything.

"At half-time the manager said we needed an epic game to win. Now it will be difficult but we are still alive."

  9. 'Sometimes 1-0 has to be enough'

    Bayern Munich 1-0 Benfica

    Manuel Neuer

Manuel Neuer, Bayern Munich goalkeeper: "We only had a few good chances, Benfica’s defence did a good job, their four-man defence works pretty well. In the end we were unable to score a second goal, but sometimes a 1-0 has to be enough."

  10. Post update

The return legs of tonight's quarter-finals will take place next Wednesday - 13 April.

That's a busy night of football for your diary actually. As well as the two Champions League ties it's West Ham v Manchester United in the FA Cup and Crystal Palace v Everton in the Premier League.

  13. Championship results

    Middlesbrough celebrate

The heat is on at the top of the Championship. Middlesbrough's 3-0 thumping of Huddersfield has cut Burnley's lead to one point at the top of the table after the Clarets could only draw 0-0 with Cardiff. Tense.

Brighton are not too far behind either as their 2-1 victory over Birmingham means they're just two points adrift of Sean Dyche's team.

At the other end of the table, doomed Bolton lost 3-1 at Brentford. For the latest reaction to this evening's Championship matches, click here.
