City are on the right track - but I wouldn't bank on them keeping a clean sheet next week!

'It happens sometimes'
Wolfsburg 2-0 Real Madrid
Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale told BT Sport: "We’re only halfway through the tie so we have time to turn it around. I had a clear penalty on me at the start of the game. I got smashed over.
"No excuses – we weren’t good enough tonight. It happens sometimes."
Someone on BBC Radio 5 live has just made the point to Danny Mills (see 21:59) that Sergio Aguero could have gone down against QPR but stayed on his feet and scored the goal that won the Premier League title.

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane: "I’m not happy with how the game went, especially the first half. That’s football, that’s how difficult it is. That’s what happens when you don’t play with intensity from the start. We have to rest and think about the return leg because we still have the chance to change everything."
You never know what you are going to get with Real Madrid do you? They won El Clasico just four days ago...

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini: "The quarter-final continues to be open, we must now play 90 minutes in Manchester but this is a good result for us. We made a couple of important mistakes for the first goal and the second goal was offside. In the first half, if we want to win, we cannot make those kind of mistakes. But we are trying to win the game from the first minute, it is the way we play.
"It was a very good save from Joe Hart. A very close game right to the end."

"If you can’t beat them, join them. He gets kicked all over the place. It doesn’t work.
"Morally it might be wrong. It might not be the perfect world. I’m sorry but sometimes you have to tell him to go down and win a penalty or a free-kick or get the player booked. Help your team out.
"Were we bothered when Michael Owen dived against Argentina and David Beckham scored the penalty? No."

"Manuel Pellegrini is a class act. It can be distasteful when a manager has to talk about his successor when he’s still in the job. It’s tough to have to do it for two months. I’m sure he’s really motivated to win the Champions League."

"Look where Manchester City are in the Premier League. Some of their signings aren’t good enough. The amount of points they’ve taken off the top sides this season is embarrassing. Their owner would expect a lot more from his buck.
"The new manager is used to working with the very best players in the world.
"It’s a magnificent result tonight. But they can’t keep defending like that."
