  1. A bientot

    Republic of Ireland 1-1 Sweden

I lied actually. One more thing to digest: the match highlights.

Right, time to swan off into the Salford sunset. T'was a good game, and despite the disappointment of letting a lead slip, Ireland have five days to get themselves sorted again for Belgium.

Let's hope the Euro 2016 fun bus continues as Eden Hazard et al take on on Italy shortly. You can follow that one right now with Neil Johnston. He would love your company.

    Bye.

  2. 'Oh, yay'

    Republic of Ireland 1-1 Sweden

    Wes Hoolahan

If you're just arriving at this after missing the game, can I point you to two things please?

Firstly, Wes Hoolahan's fine half-volley which evoked the town crier in commentator Jonathan Pearce.

And Paul Fletcher's report is in, to give you a considered summary of the events from Stade de France.

The result wasn't quite 'Oh, yay' for the Republic but at least they have points on the board.

  3. 'Hard now for Ireland and Sweden'

    Republic of Ireland 1-1 Sweden

    Chris Waddle

Former England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

It was a better second half. Ireland had a great start to it and got the goal but it was too early to sit back. It could have gone ether way but fair result, 1-1.

It is going to be hard for these two now. Whoever won was looking like they could get out of the group.

Steven MacConmara: Fair result, happy as an Ireland fan the way we played. Wes Hoolahan is a joy to watch, a proper Dubliner street footballer

Andrew Priestley: IRE had that game won, they just didn't take their chances. That one ball into the corridor of uncertainty was their downfall.

  5. Fair result?

    Republic of Ireland 1-1 Sweden

No shots on target by Sweden, yet they still get a point. That's the magic of Zlatan for you!

  6. What's next?

    Republic of Ireland 1-1 Sweden

So it's Belgium up next for Ireland on Saturday, followed by Italy a week on Wednesday. A decent break before those games, and who knows, maybe three draws might be enough to progress?

  7. Post update

    Republic of Ireland 1-1 Sweden

    Danny Murphy

Former England midfielder on BBC One

Sweden have hardly had a chance so the Irish centre-halves shouldn't be too disappointed. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was a lot better in the second half. He started getting into the box and his little bit of magic got them back into it.

  8. Player reaction

    Republic of Ireland 1-1 Sweden

    Wes Hoolahan

Wes Hoolahan speaks to BBC One: "It was a fantastic set up by Seamus Coleman, I caught it on the half volley and was delighted.

"To get a goal for Ireland in the Euros is a great achievement. The boys were unlucky but we'll take the point. We created a lot of chances. In the first half we were excellent and at the start of the second half as well. The boys should be proud of themselves.

"It's a great point in the end. We will look forward to playing Belgium next, watch tonight and see how it goes."

A colleague referred him to the Irish Messi, or Wessi, I can see why now.

  9. Post update

    Republic of Ireland 1-1 Sweden

    Chris Waddle

Former England winger on BBC Radio 5 live

I think Ireland are honest and genuine but they struggle in possession sometimes.

They work hard but today they had periods when they were chasing and chasing and Sweden are not the best side.

When you play Italy and Belgium it is going to be hard, it might be a set piece that gets them a result but I can't see it.

  10. 'Plenty of positives'

    Republic of Ireland 1-1 Sweden

    Alan Shearer

    Ex-England captain on BBC One

"They'll take plenty of positives out of that game. It's just a shame to sit back and retreat rather than perhaps go on and attack them."

  12. Post update

    Republic of Ireland 1-1 Sweden

    Danny Murphy

Former England midfielder on BBC One

"We expected a reaction from Sweden and we got that. Some positives for Ireland I thought we saw performances from Wes Hoolahan, Robbie Brady and Jeff Hendrick."

    Jeff Hendrick
  13. Post update

    Republic of Ireland 1-1 Sweden

    Kevin Kilbane

Former Republic of Ireland international on BBC One

"First half Ireland totally dominated and should have been one, possibly two goals up. But then after the goal Ireland went on the back foot a bit and sat too deep."

  14. FULL-TIME

    Republic of Ireland 1-1 Sweden

Zlatan didn't do much, but he helped create the goal. Little bit of magic and it earns a point. Not sure if either side will finish in the top two places in the group but Ireland were tireless and have more points than they earned four years ago.

  15. FULL-TIME

    Republic of Ireland 1-1 Sweden

All over. Ireland might be a tad disappointed not to have won. They had the better chances by far.

  16. Post update

    Republic of Ireland 1-1 Sweden

Aidan McGeady takes a right whack on his ankle from Andreas Granqvist. No free-kick but Ireland launch it forward. McGeady cannot find the cross and Seamus Coleman is dispossessed near the goal-line. That might be that.

  17. Watch again

    Republic of Ireland 1-1 Sweden

Watch again as Zlatan Ibrahimovic uncharacteristically shoots wide from close range.

  18. Post update

    Republic of Ireland 1-1 Sweden

James McClean has the energy but cannot be found down the left, Sweden clear towards Zlatan, who then fouls Ciaran Clark.

  19. Post update

    Republic of Ireland 1-1 Sweden

Gone a touch quiet in the Stade de France as fans wonder. Zlatan tries to play a nice one-two with Emil Forsberg, but doesn't get the return. Shane Long then draws a foul from an increasingly irate Sebastian Larsson.

    Three minutes of stoppage time.

  20. Post update

    Republic of Ireland 1-1 Sweden

James McClean crosses from the left but it's too deep. Seamus Coleman's pings it back in from the far side and Ireland win a throw. Just need to keep their heads now.
