  1. Post update

So there you go, our first taste of the new-look Scottish League Cup and we ended with much excitement at Station Park, with Dundee United edging out Arbroath on penalties to go top of their group, while Raith Rovers and Partick Thistle also start with victories.

Join us again tomorrow for 13 more ties, with match of the day being Motherwell hosting Rangers.

  2. Even more handy Hamilton

    Cove Rangers 1-2 Raith Rovers

With that penalty excitement, I forgot to pass on that Raith Rovers took all three points at Station Park.

  4. Handy Henri

So United take the bonus point, with Arbroath having to settle for one after losing the shootout.

Anonymous: "Rangers are gonna win the treble."

Good to see such positive texts this evening. How long will everyone's confidence last?

    Arbroath 1-1 Dundee United

Arbroath secure a draw, which means the first penalty shoot-out of the new League Cup format.

  18. GOAL

Arbroath 1-1 Dundee United (Colin Hamilton)

I spoke too soon about those penalties as Arbroath defender Colin Hamilton looks to have pushed the ball over the line with his elbow after goalkeeper Cammy Bell flaps at a cross.

  19. No penalties?

How disappointing. Into stoppage time and it doesn't look like we are going to get our first taste of the new penalty shoot-outs to settle drawn games.

Not surprised you kept your name hidden with a prediction like that! Although who knows, stranger things have happened.
