  1. Follow the Olympics now...

That's us finished for the night now, but check out the latest from the Olympics - both TV and text - on our live page here throughout the night.

Some people in the office seemed very excited about cycling there so have a look if that sounds like your thing.

  2. Post update

More from Pep Guardiola: "Now Raheem Sterling is playing really good. But he's young and has to learn a lot. He has a lot of quality, he’s fast, has a good work ethic, can play right or left, go out to the line or go in the middle. He's a fantastic player. That's why Manchester City were so clever to buy him last season.

"All the players are important. We have to create a good team spirit and we’ve seen that in the two games."

  3. Post update

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola told BT Sport: "We are almost in the Champions League. That was our target. It was a great performance, great attitudes. The result is amazing; I am so satisfied with the way we played - a big compliment to these fantastic players.

"All the managers in the world want to create chances and concede few. We are there. Now it’s rest and focus on Stoke City and the second game."

  4. Coming up tomorrow...

The other five Champions League play-off first legs are tomorrow and some of them look pretty tasty. Celtic are in action, while Dundalk bid to be the first Irish side to ever reach the Champions League group stages.

FC Porto v Roma is a game which feels like it should be in the groups and not a qualifier.

    Celtic v Hapoel Be'er Sheva

    Dundalk v Legia Warsaw

    FC Porto v Roma

    Ludogorets v Viktoria Plzen

    Villarreal v Monaco

  5. Post update

Manchester City's exciting summer signing, who should be ready for his debut soon after a hamstring injury, was impressed by the rout.

  6. Post update

Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling on BT Sport: "It was a bit disappointing not to take our early chances. But we stuck in at the end and got the goals we deserved. But we can’t rest in the second leg.

"It’s been a good start to the season so far [for me], but most importantly it's two games and two wins. I’ve come back with a good mentality. I just want to play football."

  7. Post update

Manchester City playmaker Kevin de Bruyne on BT Sport: "I think we played a really good game. It could have been eight or nine.

"In the end Sergio Aguero scored three goals. If you do that, nobody will complain about the two missed penalties.

"At half-time we knew we needed a couple more goals [to kill off the tie] and keep it nil. Now we know it’s a really good advantage and we should qualify next week."

  8. Full-time results tonight

    Ajax 1-1 Rostov

    Young Boys 1-3 Borussia Monchengladbach

    Dinamo Zagreb 1-1 Salzburg

    FC Copenhagen 1-0 Apoel Nicosia

  9. Post update

The second leg of this tie is next Wednesday. Manchester City were so dominant tonight that some of the fringe players like Yaya Toure and Joe Hart might get a run-out...

  10. Post update

Steaua manager Laurentiu Reghecampf gives his players a team talk on the pitch afterwards. His side were shocking, but even if they'd been on form they'd still have lost against an impressive Manchester City tonight.

  11. Post update

Sergio Aguero has now scored eight hat-tricks for Manchester City. The Premier League's best player since Cristiano Ronaldo?

    Sergio Aguero
  12. FULL-TIME - Steaua Bucharest 0-5 Manchester City

Manchester City were brilliant tonight and barring one of football's most unlikely stories next week, they will be into the Champions League group stages.

    Guardiola celebrates

    Two minutes added on.

Jack Parkes: Nolito looks like he could be City's David Villa. Chemistry with Silva and Aguero is already frightening!

Peter Collins: I wonder if City will use a few kids next week. Steaua just aren't very good, surely it's a good chance to give them minutes?

  15. GOAL - Steaua Bucharest 0-5 Manchester City

    Sergio Aguero

Goals 3-2 missed penalties, Sergio Aguero gets his hat-trick.

Fernando plays the ball through to the Argentine, who has his back to goal. He turns and runs towards goal - with the Steaua defence giving him all the time in the world - before slamming home.

Steaua are defending like it's the last five minutes of five-a-side and you're just thinking of getting home for a beer.

Jonathan Cowley: This would be double figures but for Steaua's keeper. Majestic, masterful stuff from City tonight.

Viv: Sergio Aguero is just delight to watch! But great team work between him and Nolito for the goal. Keep them coming (1 more)

Daniel Woodley: As team goals go that was absolutely brilliant from Manchester City. If this was a boxing match the referee would have stopped it

  17. Post update

Sergio Aguero has about six minutes left to complete his hat-trick. Seems a long time ago that we were all semi-secretly wondering if he could miss a hat-trick of penalties.

  18. Post update

Marko Rog - great name - has levelled for Dinamo Zagreb against Salzburg. That's 1-1 in Croatia now.

  19. Post update

This is the first time Manchester City have ever scored four goals away from home in a European game.

And it's almost five, but Florin Nita dives to his right to keep out Nolito's effort.

Kevin de Bruyne, who played the pass that set up that move, comes off for Fernando in Manchester City's midfield. He's showed some great touches tonight.
