  1. Post update

And with that, we were gone.

West Ham tomorrow night, plus more Olympics as Neymar and co join the party.

    See you there!

  2. Olympic latest

Free-kick floated into the box. Keeper comes. Keeper misses. And that's an easy 3-0 win for Brazil.

It doesn't stop - next up it's Zimbabwe v Germany in the women's football competition.

    Watch that game here.

  3. Tunnel talk

    Man Utd 0-0 Everton

Ronald Koeman waits at the mouth of the tunnel to embrace Wayne Rooney as Belgian team-mates Kevin Mirallas and Romelu Lukaku share a joke. Will they be happy or not with the appointment of former boss Roberto Martinez?

  4. 'You should all be proud'

    Man Utd 0-0 Everton

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney: "I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone here. The money raised will go to children who are in desperate need of it. You should all be proud of yourselves. I'd like to thank Everton for the support they've shown, and the Everton fans who have come along.

"I've spent 12 seasons here with great success and hopefully there is more to come. You have been great, here's to hopefully more trophies."

  5. Post update

    Man Utd 0-0 Everton

Wayne Rooney is about to speak to the crowd of just under 60,000

  6. FULL-TIME

    Man Utd 0-0 Everton

It's all over. Wayne Rooney shakes the hands of all and sundry before heading out on to the pitch.

  7. Post update

    Man Utd 0-0 Everton

    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

Not exactly the greatest game in the world - and no appearance in an Everton shirt for Wayne Rooney.

Jose Mourinho will be marginally more pleased with the workout, if only because Ronald Koeman had the worrying sight of Muhamed Besic limping down the tunnel to contend with.

Still a week-and-a-half to go before the matches really count of course - and over a fortnight after that before the transfer deadline after which the respective managers will know what they are working with.

  8. Post update

    Man Utd 0-0 Everton

Memphis Depay tries an ambitious overhead kick at the far post, he gets his angles wrong and ends up launching into mid air.

On the bench Wayne Rooney bursts out laughing but his son is livid! Fuming.

    Into added time.

  9. Please no!

    Man Utd 0-0 Everton

  10. Post update

Celtic 2-1 FC Astana (Agg: 3-2)

Celtic are now assured group stage football in either the Champions League or Europa League.

Brendan Rodgers' side go into Friday's draw for the Champions League play-off round.

Should they win at that stage, they will be in the Champions League group phase.

However, should they lose their next tie, they will enter the Europa League group stage.

  11. Friendlies round-up

Bournemouth have kept their unbeaten record in pre-season after drawing 1-1 at home to Spanish giants Valencia in their final friendly. Enzo Perez gave the visitors a half-time lead before Benik Afobe equalised for the Cherries.

  12. Post update

    Man Utd 0-0 Everton

A lone, forlorn air horn blows the last rites at Old Trafford. There are somehow still seen minutes left though. I don't think Facebook will be in much of a rush to stream any more games.

  13. FULL-TIME

Celtic 2-1 FC Astana (Agg: 3-2)

Celtic are through to the play-off round. Two games away from the Champions League group stage.

    Celtic's Moussa Dembele
  14. Post update

    Man Utd 0-0 Everton

The one thing you don't want in a game as tame and tedious as this it to pick up an injury. And Everton midfielder Mo Besic has done exactly that in a block tackle. He limps off.

  15. GOAL - Celtic 2-1 FC Astana (Agg: 3-2)

    Moussa Dembele (Pen)

That could be a massive goal as Moussa Dembele converts from the spot. Surely that's Celtic through to the next round?

  16. PENALTY TO CELTIC

Celtic 1-1 FC Astana (Agg: 2-2)

    In stoppage time!

  18. Post update

    Man Utd 0-0 Everton

    Believe it Peter, believe.

Anyway there are still 20 minutes left at Old Trafford. Nothing going on.

Standing ovation for Zlatan Ibrahimovic as he leaves the field.

Seems he is going to be a fans favourite at Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho has now changed his entire starting line-up but spare a thought for Sam Johnstone.

Mourinho named three keepers tonight - and Johnstone is the third, the only player named that has yet to have any involvement.
