Five goals, one sending's fair to say the 2016 Super Cup was a pulsating contest. Real Madrid have a spring in their step as they prepare to start the La Liga campaign away to Real Sociedad on 21 August.

And in the one EFL Cup tie that did go to penalties, League Two Accrington Stanley beat League One Bradford City 11-10 on penalties after the tie ended goalless after 120 minutes.

Many thanks for your company. Until next time...

Real Madrid 3-2 Sevilla (aet)

So, Zinedine Zidane secures his second piece of silverware since taking over as Real Madrid boss in January.

But will he earn his club their first La Liga title since 2012? You wouldn't bet against it at this stage.

Real Madrid 3-2 Sevilla (aet)

There were nine goals in last year's Super Cup. The 2016 edition was just as entertaining. Sevilla were leading 2-1 towards the end of normal time when Sergio Ramos equalised. Timothee Kolodziejczak's red card turned the tie in Real's favour.

EFL Cup latest

And in the EFL Cup, loads of late drama.

Cambridge United scored late to defeat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1, Oxford also struck late, winning 1-0 at Birmingham.

But AccringtonBradford has gone to penalties. The only one of the 30 ties.

Real Madrid 3-2 Sevilla (aet)

Sevilla's Super Cup curse strikes again.

Three successive finals. Three successive defeats.

FULL-TIME - Real Madrid 3-2 Sevilla

Real Madrid win the 2016 Super Cup.

GOAL - Real Madrid 3-2 Sevilla

Dani Carvajal

Utter joy for Real Madrid. Crushing heartbreak for Sevilla.

Defender Dani Carvajal surely settles it for Real with a wonder goal after a powerful run which ends with him rifling home.

There's only a few moments remaining.

Real Madrid 2-2 Sevilla

Three minutes remaining before the 2016 Super Cup is decided by penalties.

Real Madrid 2-2 Sevilla

If Sevilla win this then a huge amount of credit must go to keeper Sergio Rico. He produces yet another fine stop to keep out James Rodriguez's volley.

EFL Cup latest

Hmm, Blackpool now leading 3-2 against Lancashire rival's Bolton, while Morecambe are now winning 4-3 at Rotherham. Thriller.

Plenty of goals for you to feast upon tonight.

Real Madrid 2-2 Sevilla

Another chance for Real. Lucas Vazquez IS clean through but his shot's half-blocked by the keeper and then cleared off the line. Real really must start taking their chances. Sevilla are playing for penalties.

Real Madrid 2-2 Sevilla

Sevilla have every player inside their own half. Real have all the possession. Karim Benzema does well to tee-up a chance for James Rodriguez but his close range effort is saved.

EFL Cup latest

Seven ties heading to penalties as it stands.

Three Championship sides dumped out so far.

Real Madrid 2-2 Sevilla

Back under way. The television cameras zoom in on a young Sevilla fan who appears to have fallen asleep. To be fair, it's way past his bed time.

HALF-TIME - Real Madrid 2-2 Sevilla

Sevilla have somehow survived the first period of extra-time. We're 15 minutes away from penalties.

Real Madrid 2-2 Sevilla

For the first time it is one-way traffic. Sevilla are in survival mode as Real produce wave after wave of attacks. We're two minutes from the end of first half of extra-time.

EFL Cup latest

Of the 11 ties that went to extra-time in the EFL Cup only one scoreline has changed - with Scunthorpe now leading Notts County 1-0.

Ah, Crewe have now just gone 2-1 up at Sheffield United

Real Madrid 2-2 Sevilla

Sergio Ramos has the ball in the back of the Sevilla net. He spins around to celebrate with his jubilant team-mates but the celebrations are cut short as his acrobatic header is ruled out but it is not clear what for. He is certainly not offside.

Real Madrid 2-2 Sevilla

Real Madrid are surely favourites to win this now. Sevilla have gone from 2-1 ahead with two minutes remaining to having victory snatched from them and are now down to 10 men.

RED CARD - Timothee Kolodziejczak (Sevilla)

It's all going wrong for Sevilla. They will have to play the last 25 minutes down to 10 men after Timothee Kolodziejczak is sent off for a second yellow card following a foul on Lucas Vazquez.

Real Madrid 2-2 Sevilla

First chance in extra time falls to Karim Benzema who does well to get a shot away from inside the area while surrounded by red shirts. Sergio Rico saves comfortably.

EFL latest

Lots of extra time

Not a great night for Ipswich, they've lost 1-0 at home to Stevenage.

Derby squeaked past Grimsby, winning 1-0, while Preston struck deep into injury time to defeat Hartlepool by the same scoreline.

Fulham resisted a late Leyton Orient fightback to win 3-2 while Cheltenham defeated Charlton 1-0.

I make it 11 of the 30 ties going to extra-time.

KICK-OFF - Real Madrid 2-2 Sevilla

Extra time is under way.

Real Madrid 2-2 Sevilla

Sevilla lost the 2014 Super Cup to Real Madrid in Cardiff. They lost the 2015 edition 5-4 to Barcelona in Tbilisi and now they have had victory snatched from their grasp at the death in Trondheim.

FULL-TIME - Real Madrid 2-2 Sevilla

Thirty minutes of extra time it is then.

GOAL - Real Madrid 2-2 Sevilla

Drama as Sergio Ramos makes up for conceding a penalty by heading Real Madrid level with moments remaining. The skipper rises to meet Lucas Vazquez's cross to level from close range.

Real Madrid 1-2 Sevilla

Four minutes of added time.

Real Madrid 1-2 Sevilla

Remember, Real are missing Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Toni Kroos but they will not like missing out on silverware to Sevilla so close to the start of the La Liga season.

Real Madrid 1-2 Sevilla

Theatrics from Sevilla as they attempt to run down the clock. A late challenge by Casemiro on Sevilla's  Matías Kranevitter has the Argentine midfielder rolling around on the ground.

Real Madrid 1-2 Sevilla

Sevilla are five minutes away from winning the Super Cup for the first time since 2006.

Real Madrid 1-2 Sevilla

Chance for Dani Carvajal as he manages to weave his way behind Sevilla's defence but his stinging shot is beaten away by Sergio Rico.

Real Madrid 1-2 Sevilla

Real Madrid have it all to do. They are piling forward through Luka Modric and Karim Benzema but Sevilla's defence is looking as solid as a rock. Are the Champions League winners about to lose to their La Liga rivals? Barcelona fans will be loving this.

EFL Cup latest

Hmm - 15 of the 30 ties level right now.

Real Madrid 1-2 Sevilla

Sevilla have lost the last two Super Cups. They are 15 minutes away from making it third time lucky.

GOAL - Real Madrid 1-2 Sevilla

Yevhen Konoplyanka (penalty)

They came from behind to beat Liverpool in the Europa League final and now Sevilla have come from behind to lead Real Madrid.

Substitute Yevhen Konoplyanka keeps his cool to send Kiko Casilla the wrong way.

Real Madrid 1-1 Sevilla

What is Sergio Ramos doing? The Real Madrid skipper clips Vitolo inside the area and the referee points straight to the penalty spot. Huge chance for Sevilla.

Real Madrid 1-1 Sevilla

The flurry of substitutions continues. This time Sevilla forward Luciano Vietto is replaced by Ukraine winger Yevhen Konoplyanka. No sign of a winner by either side.

EFL Cup latest

A couple of quick goals for Blackburn, who now lead League Two Mansfield 3-1, while Greg Halford had equalised for Rotherham against Morecambe - only for the Shrimps to retake the lead.

Newport are 2-1 up against MK Dons, while Derby have gone ahead at home to fourth-tier Grimsby.

Real Madrid 1-1 Sevilla

Zinedine Zidane clearly does not want extra time. Having sent on Karim Benzema, the Real boss now replaces midfielder Isco with Luka Modric. Just over 20 minutes for Real to find a winner.
