All times stated are UK

  1. Coming up in the EFL this weekend

    Roberto di Matteo

After that 3-0 win for Brighton at the Amex, the new EFL season rolls throughout the weekend and we'll be back from 14:00 BST on Saturday with build-up to all the day's action.

In the Championship, Newcastle and Aston Villa will be looking for their first wins since dropping out of the Premier League, before Norwich host Sheffield Wednesday in the 17:30 kick-off.

There will also be 11 games in League One and a full programme of League Two fixtures - do be sure to join us for all that tomorrow.

Until then, thanks for joining us this evening and goodbye.

  2. FT: Brighton 3-0 Nottm Forest

    Glenn Murray and Bruno

Brighton missed out on automatic promotion last season on goal difference and then lost in the play-off semi-finals to Sheffield Wednesday.

However, the Seagulls have kept the core of the squad together and are expected to challenge at the top of the Championship again this season.

They have set down an early marker with a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest this evening.

Seagulls fans will be delighted that Glenn Murray is off the mark in his second spell at the club, but that late injury for David Stockdale will be a concern for boss Chris Hughton.

You can read the match report by my colleague Tom Garry here.

  3. FT: Brighton 3-0 Nottm Forest

Quote Message: I lost my brother six years ago and it is his birthday today. I was a bit emotional, with all my family here. The lads showed great desire. Last season was very disappointing and we deserved better but we need to move on. We have a new season and want to do our best. from Anthony Knockaert Brighton winger on Sky Sports

  4. FT: Brighton 3-0 Nottm Forest

    Warren Aspinall

    Ex-Brighton striker on BBC Sussex

Quote Message: It was a very good performance. Brighton controlled it after the first goal and got the clean sheet. I hope David Stockdale is okay as that clash at the end didn't look good

    Brighton 3-0 Nottm Forest

    Glenn Murray

Andrew Madley blows his whistle and brings proceedings to an end at the Amex Stadium.

In the end it was a straightforward victory for Brighton following Anthony Knockaert's opener and a brace from Glenn Murray.

Brighton go top of the Championship... until the rest of the division are in action tomorrow.

  6. CLOSE!

    Brighton 3-0 Nottm Forest

We'll be going for a bit longer after that delay for treatment for David Stockdale.

Glenn Murray wins a free-kick just outside the Forest area and then heads narrowly wide from Oliver Norwood's delivery.

Murray was clearly offside though, so it wouldn't have counted.

  7. Post update

    Brighton 3-0 Nottm Forest

Brighton keeper David Stockdale is back on his feet but he's going to come off.

Centre-back Lewis Dunk has stripped off his shirt to put on Stockdale's shirt and will take the gloves for the last couple of minutes.

An outfield player in goal could add some late excitement here, with the game safe for Brighton.

  8. Post update

    Brighton 3-0 Nottm Forest

Brighton have a late worry here over keeper David Stockdale.

He collided with left-back Gaetan Bong while collecting a cross and is down getting treatment.

It looks to be an ankle injury for Stockdale. He might not be able to continue. Brighton have used all their substitutes.

  9. Post update

    Brighton 3-0 Nottm Forest

Dale Stephens tests Forest keeper Stephen Henderson from the free-kick.

It's a simple one for the Irishman, straight at him.

We are into five minutes of injury time.

  10. Post update

    Brighton 3-0 Nottm Forest

Brighton get a free-kick about 30 yards out after Anthony Knockaert is fouled by Henri Lansbury following another Brighton break.

  11. Post update

    Brighton 3-0 Nottm Forest

Brighton somehow keep a clean sheet after an almighty scramble in the box.

Hildeberto Pereira breaks into the box and finds Jamie Paterson, who has a shot blocked.

An Albion player then heads back into danger, and Lewis Dunk has to block a shot from Lars Veldwijk.

    Brighton 3-0 Nottm Forest

Brighton substitute Sam Baldock picks up a yellow for dissent after a coming together with Hildeberto Pereira.

From the resulting free-kick Lars Veldwijk heads well wide of goal.

    Brighton 3-0 Nottm Forest

Albion striker Glenn Murray comes close to completing his hat-trick.

He's released by a ball by Oliver Norwood and a good touch takes him into the area.

However Stephen Henderson comes out and turns his shot behind for a corner.

  14. Post update

    Brighton 3-0 Nottm Forest

Action at both ends after Brighton's third goal of the evening.

Forest's Hildeberto Pereira sends a shot wide and then Sam Baldock goes close at the other end.

Meanwhile Oliver Norwood has replaced Jiri Skalak for Albion.

  15. GOAL Brighton 3-0 Nottm Forest

    Glenn Murray

Brighton have sealed victory with a clinical counter-attack.

Dale Stephens nicks the ball off Jamie Patterson in the Albion area and sets Anthony Knockaert away down the right,

The Frenchman drives at the Forest defence and released Sam Baldock, who made a clever run between the centre-backs.

Baldock bursts into the area and draws out Stephen Henderson, before cutting the ball back to Glenn Murray for an easy tap-in - and Murray's second goal of the evening.

  16. Post update

    Brighton 2-0 Nottm Forest

Pajtim Kasami drifts a ball into the Albion box looking for Apostolos Vellios, but the Greek striker is not on the same wavelength.

Kasami has been at the heart of the best things going forward for the visitors tonight.

Meanwhile, Albion striker Glenn Murray and Forest centre-back Damien Perquis have a little coming together but referee Andrew Madley steps in before it gets too heated.

  17. Post update

    Brighton 2-0 Nottm Forest

They won't from that delivery, as Henri Lansbury's ball in goes past everyone, including Lars Veldwijk at the back post, and drifts out for a goal kick.

  18. Post update

    Brighton 2-0 Nottm Forest

Forest win a corner as a deep free-kick into the box is turned behind by Liam Rosenior.

Can Forest find a way back into the match?

Forest make their final change of the evening, as former Everton striker Apostolos Vellios comes on for Oliver Burke.

    Brighton 2-0 Nottm Forest

Sam Baldock and Dale Stephens are on for Tomer Hemed and Beram Kayal.

Meanwhile, Forest have replaced Alex Iacovitti with Jamie Patterson.
