Swansea 1-2 Liverpool

OK. That's a wrap.

Thanks for joining us today. Liverpool fans go celebrate on Seel Street or in your own living rooms.

As for Swans supporters - will your club stick or twist with Francesco Guidolin?

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday.

'The performance was not perfect'

Swansea 1-2 Liverpool

More from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "I thought we could have done better in the first half. Our body language was not good, we were static and it was easy to defend against us. We are not as good as we should have been.

"You have to show why we are here. We showed a reaction, were more organised, clear in all situations and we deserved to win.

"Of course I am happy we have had two or three brilliant games in a row.

"If Milner is our top scorer at end of the season with penalties I have no problem with it. All is good. The performance was not perfect but it was good enough today."

'I don't know if I'll be in a job'

Swansea 1-2 Liverpool

Swansea manager Francesco Guidolin on Sky Sports:

"My team played a very good game. Liverpool is a very strong team. The draw would have been the right result. We played better in the first half and they played better in the second half. We need a good result. The team played a good game. We have to look forward.

"At the end we had a good chance. I prefer to think of our first half. We were aggressive and dynamic. It's important for a manager. Our team is good but we are not in a good moment.

"The players gave me a good answer. Our relationship is good. There is no problem between me and my players.

On his suggestion that he might lose his job if the Swans lost:

"I don't know. It's not my decision. It's just for me to prepare for the game and the team. I know the situation. It's a possibility. The important thing to prepare with patience.

"Before the game I saw the new owners Jason (Levien) and Steve (Kaplan) just to say 'hello'. I don't know if in the next day there's meeting."

François Bruwier: Is Karius a real improvement for this Liverpool team? Not so sure...

Eston Kimaswoch: Its been a tough afternoon for @LFC Fans, Karius is a downgrade of Mignolet, he looked like he been tethered on the goal line

Liam Stones: Too many times #lfc have faded away in games like this but not today! Not under Jurgen will we fold anymore

'We weren't awake in the first half'

Swansea 1-2 Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp: "We are really happy in this moment. The second half is how the whole game should have been. Our body language wasn't good in the first half.

"I thought the Swansea goal was offside, but it's not important anymore. In the second half we bossed them  - it's how we should have been. We asked more difficult questions in the second half.

"Swansea are a good side. In the first half they played football. Our build-up was static in the first half. we weren't awake so it was easy to defend.

"You need to show every week that you ready to fight for the result. We did it in this game. We have 16 points and an international break. All the players are all over the world and we don't like it.

On Adam Lallana's injury, who went off in the first half: "Lallana has a groin problem and Dejan Lovren too. We will see what they have exactly. Hopefully they'll use the break to recover."

Nick Hughes: Probably the best Swansea performance this season. With Llorente back and a team playing like that, they can turn it around

Bob Moss: Liverpool so much fun to watch, Man Utd please take note, boring the other team to death is not the way to play

Shuvam Sinha: I feel so sorry for Guidolin. A display that didn't deserve a defeat. Borja should feel responsible if his manager gets the axe

First half Liverpool were very poor but then after half-time the real Liverpool turned up.

As for Swansea manager Guidolin, you live and die by the decisions you make.

He brought on Barrow who made the poorest of defensive mistakes for the penalty.

FULL-TIME

Swansea 1-2 Liverpool

It is now.

Questions to be asked:

  • What happens now to Swans boss Francesco Guidolin?
  • Who will Jurgen Klopp hug the tightest?
  • Will it be a two-horse race between the Reds and Man City?

NOOOOOO!

Swansea 1-2 Liverpool

Oh Swansea! Oh Francesco!

The final fling of hope is wasted by defender Mike van der Hoorn who screws his shot wide from four yards as the ball arrives at his feet.

Is that that for the Swans?

Swansea 1-2 Liverpool

4 - James Milner has scored four Premier League penalties this season - more than any team has managed. Interesting.

Swansea 1-2 Liverpool

Liverpool may still be a work in progress under Klopp. The progress though is rapid.

STOPPAGE TIME

Swansea 1-2 Liverpool

There are four minutes of it.

Swansea 1-2 Liverpool

Nearly an own goal. Swansea's Jack Cork almost deflects Emre Can's low cross past his keeper Lukasz Fabianski, but instead the ball arrives safely into the arms of the Pole.

We have a minute plus stoppage.

Liverpool were on top for most of the second half. You thought Swansea had weathered the storm but it was their own doing.

Milner has probably been Liverpool's best player in this second half. If there was one player who deserved the winning goal it was him.

Mark: How light is Firmino if he goes down that easily?

Paul Humphreys: Yet another penalty for Liverpool...

Stacy Phillips: Stonewall penalty. Brilliant penalty from Milner. Guidolin shouldn't lose his job over this. Spirited Swansea performance.

You cannot believe it. Suicidal defending from Swansea.

It was just the smallest of pushes but it was a push.

GOAL - Swansea 1-2 Liverpool

James Milner

You can be as "boring" as you want if you slot away penalties  like that.

"Mr.Dependable" James Milner fires his spot-kick hard and straight past Lukasz Fabianski.

Is there any way back for the Swans? This will be seen as one they let slip.

PENALTY TO LIVERPOOL

Swansea 1-1 Liverpool

Now then. This is one for the Match of the Day analysts.

Roberto Firmino is nudged in the back by Angel Rangel. The contact is deemed sufficient for ref Michael Oliver to point to the spot.

What did you guys think?

Either way, Swansea had chances to clear the danger but a high kick from Barrow and a poor header from Rangel created problems.

Swansea 1-1 Liverpool

It's another corner for the Reds. The delivery is fired into the near post, but Joel Matip's header is deflected wide.

The second corner is eventually cleared by the Swans. This would be a big point for them and manager Francesco Guidolin.

Swansea 1-1 Liverpool

The Swansea corner is swung in and misses every head.

Reds keeper Loris Karius finds himself on the deck in the aftermath and needs treatment. Not sure what happened. He's OK though.

We have 12 minutes plus stoppage time remaining. Which team is preparing for one last assault?

'One-way traffic this half'

Swansea 1-1 Liverpool

Pat Nevin

Ex-Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 live

It's one of those days when you think, is there are a massive incline on the pitch? It's been one-way traffic towards the Swansea goal with Liverpool relentless at the moment. In the first half Swansea dominated kicking towards to the same goal. It's all been going in the same direction.

Close, but no pen

Swansea 1-1 Liverpool

Another corner for Liverpool but Swansea again deal with it.

In the lead up, there was the slightest suggestion that Modou Barrow might have brought down James Milner on the edge of the area in his attempt to get to the ball first. Ref Michael Oliver wasn't interested and nor were the Reds players, to be fair.

Anyway, Swansea have a corner now. Can they steal this one?

Swansea goalscorer Leroy Fer comes off and is replaced by 22-year-old Scot Jay Fulton.

Swansea 1-1 Liverpool

20 - No Liverpool player has been involved in more PL goals than Roberto Firmino since the start of last season (13 goals, 7 assists). Busy.

Swansea 1-1 Liverpool

It's a red tidal wave at the mo.

Nathaniel Clyne has a sighter from 25 yards and forces a good low save from Lukasz Fabianski.

Moments later, Kyle Naughton produces a last-ditch block to deny Sadio Mane from 15 yards.

And from the resulting corner, Daniel Sturridge heads wide and high.

The corner is easily cleared by the home side, but the ball is back in the possession of the men in red. This will be a testing last 24 minutes for the Welsh side.

The rain's gone though and the sun's shining. Every cloud.

It's a corner for Liverpool, although the Swans are complaining that Modou Barrow was unfairly dispossessed further down the field.

'Liverpool have arrived in the game'

Swansea 1-1 Liverpool

Pat Nevin

Ex-Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 live

I asked the question whether Liverpool have turned up today? They sure have now. They have hit their stride. They have arrived in this game.

The high pressing from Liverpool which they could not do first half is there. They are creating on the right, they are creating on the left.

The early kick-offs sometimes affect teams and the way in which they begin the game. Maybe that's true of Liverpool today.

BBC Sport Wales at the Liberty Stadium

Being a fly on the wall in Liverpool's changing room would have made interesting viewing at half-time  - because the Reds have emerged for this second half a different team.

They are swarming all over Swansea and, after equalising through Roberto Firmino's header, the visitors could be ahead after a flurry of chances.

Liverpool's fans are buoyed. After a Swans-dominated first half, it is the red corner of the Liberty Stadium which is loudest now.

'Swansea's defence not out quick enough'

Swansea 1-1 Liverpool

Pat Nevin

Ex-Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 live

Swansea have tried to push out and play for the offside and they don't get out quick enough. By the time the ball goes to Firmino he has all the time in the world to head into the net.

Liverpool have started well in this second half and it's completely changed the game now. Jurgen Klopp's side look a lot more confident now.

GOAL - Swansea 1-1 Liverpool

Roberto Firmino

Philippe Coutinho's free-kick hits the wall and loops up but the loose ball is immediately hooked defly into the area by Jordan Henderson.

Roberto Firmino finds himself in acres of space and his most glancing of glancing headers is arguably perfect - the ball nestling into the bottom corner.

YELLOW CARD

Swansea 1-0 Liverpool

By the way Georginio Wijnaldum is playing is this match.

Liverpool's summer signing seems to have barely had a touch on the ball.

Anyway, Liverpool have a free-kick after Leon Britton is booked for bringing down Sadio Mane.

It's 25 yards out.

Former England striker believes Sam Allardyce's replacement as manager should be English. Here are a few of your thoughts. You can watch Shearer's thoughts in full below (see 13:31).

Thomas: The next England manager can be from mars for all I care so long as we do well for once

Mr Mark James: Agree with Shearer surely the point of Int football is to put the best teams and MANAGERS from each country against each other

Lewi Smith: Managers should be judged on ability, not nationality. Laurent Blanc would be perfect
